  1. There goes my plans on putting a 3.5L Modern z engine in a 69 Camaro. Dang. Not worth the ridicule, but it would make a nice counterpart to my other car modern V8 in a classic Z. I don't see the difference.
  2. At least you don't have to water 3/4 acre! I mean in San diego, if you don't water every week even in the winter and twice a week in the hottest summer the grass dies or goes dormant (brown). Then you have to mow it every week spring and fall and every other week summer and winter to keep it from getting out of hand. I straight refused to take care of the lawn when working on my Z now it's totally dead and the wife asked last weekend if I could throw some weed and feed on it, only trouble is it's mostly weeds and dead grass we need to water it first. My water bill with my 1/10 acre of grass and non-indigenous plants was 125-250/mo. Sad but true. But it looked really nice at least. Now we look at weeds and dead weeds and that's ok by me for now.
  3. Or skip that rat race and just build a hybrid Z. Cheaper, more reliable, and so much potential for speed! I will not buy a new car unless then relax this smog stuff, the last three cars I owned before the Z were given up based on the fact that they needed new engines to pass the smog restrictions. They just keep lowering the maximums to the point where even a new engine might not fix it. At this rate in 10 years a car will fail smog after rolling off the assembly line and this is exactly what carmakers want. You don't have to smog the car for three years and then you are looking at either spending 5000 to get the car to pass smog or just trading it in on a new one. A new car every three years and 0 resale for used ones, no competition. Those bastards!
  4. Have you thought of putting the honda motor in the Z just so you aren't driving a honda around, it's not going to be a screamer, but at least you'll drive in style? then again
  5. You are probably right, but sounded so confident I had to comment.
  6. I wonder why it's not for US street use?
  7. Yes I was happy with my 1&3/4 car garage which could BARELY fit two cars that is if you liked crawling out the window. But I came up with some really crafty ways to save space and such, however, when I moved to this 200 sq.ft bigger house with a 3 car garage I'd have to say I am very happy, but of course your use of space expands to fill the space... But it's sideways so that the longest part of is parallel to how you park the cars so you can pull 2 cars way in and have enough room to park a car sideways behind the two. I could park two Fiesta's tanden if I really wanted 2 Fiesta's. It's sheer bliss I gotta tell you. 4 car would be awsome... then I could park the project car next to the daily driver and still have room for the wife's car. Instead the project car stole a space for 9 months and I scraped ice off my windows in the morning.
  8. So... you DIE if you are locked out of your house? Better be nice to the misses.
  9. 302 probably a better choice due to ease of acess anyway, but my next hybrid is defiantely going to be a 21st century motor.
  10. I went with MSA a little pricey but perfect fit for both, no hassle.
  11. Everything but #5 it's 3/4" and Napa looked at me blankly when I asked for a 3/4 Fuel hose. I tried a heater hose but you could still smell the gas through it I can't explain why, so I went to McMaster-Carr and got the 3/4" it's 100R4 and the smell is gone. Of course I did manager to spill gas on my interior carpet so that'll stick around for a while. But I spent maybe $40 at Napa if that. At first I bought Braided hoses but they were too big to pass through the tubes in the back so I'm stuck with those, they cost $65 for everything but could only use 2 of 6 of them so just go with fuel rated hoses.
  12. Wow it looks like they dipped that car in Blood, So wicked!
  13. [benefit] Computer = No Technology = Recent Power Ability = 500 Weight = Low Harness = Not a big deal Fun = Sooner Tuning = Easier [/benefit] Of course there are many reasons not to do it but they involve more time and technology, sensors, etc. It's just simpler, not necessarily better or worse. KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid. Then your life is a heck of a lot easier. And when your O2 sensor gets fouled I'd like to see what you replace/check first. that's all.
  14. You most likely have either an overdrive lockout solenoid OR your cable or linkage for your shifter doesn't go far enough to register "OD" in the tranny, try adjustment and look for a connector on the side of the tranny that you aren't using. But you should have started a new thread this conversation is clearly out of place here. [edit] I mean you should have SEARCHED!!!!!
  15. I know what you mean about the weather! Brrrr, it's like 65 when I get home but when I pull the z in the garage it pretty much warms it up to 70 with just the heat of the engine and exhaust after I turn it off of course. And it gets dark so early, I have to turn the lights on at like 5:30 and it's dark by 6:30, well dark in a comparitive sence it's not like you need a flashlight to walk the dog in the city at night anyway. Seriously, 4 below what??? I think the coldest I ever was here was 40. Although there is frost on the cars in the morning. so it must get colder at least on the cars, but you could walk out without a jacket, it's not like 32 in the air for sure. Big project, I hope you stay at it!
