  1. This is ludicrous! Totally Tool Shed Material Dude even if you are on the "short bus".
  2. A braap head?!!!! Cooooooollllllllllllllllllllllll. I want pic's!
  3. Nothing comes to mind right now, um, that I can type here anyway.
  4. Ok, the newest member Pornopanda needs a name change and a special title to reflect his interests.
  5. He has lost alot of weight over the past few years, I was wondering if the weight was contributing to health problems.
  6. You must have one hell of a build to get a 302 chevy to 450+HP IMO. Details?
  7. The stage of a port job and how it sound is meaningless IMO. Generally, you start with one chamber and set of ports, take starting measurements, port ad finish that, use inside snap gauges make drawings with final dimensions and work your way through the head making sure that they are all very close. It'll depend on your cam, how good of a job you do. Port work is an art, if you can't make it blend smooth then leave it to the more experienced. I'm not sure why you want 35 degrees of advance, better burn will allow for peak power at lower advance settings. Unshrouding the valves will increase the chamber volume, by how much will depend on how much material you remove which is directly proportional 1:1 with chamber volume in cc. You MUST CC the head after chamber work to balance the CR on all cylinders. The result of that will be a much smoother running engine IMO especially under boost! I'm pretty good at porting and have all the cylinder head tools, IMO it is worth it.
  8. I was just wondering why you would want to add water to methanol? Seems to me that you'd just want straight methanol. Your forgetting that you can add alot of methanol, it is quite unlike gasoline even as a detonation inhibitor. I think you'll find that the more you add the better it works up to a certain point. Two 900cc injectors would seem about right IMO.
  9. Cozy z cole wants "bigger IS better" or "D bigger D better" I'd take "Here Wabbit"
  10. There is another thread that states that holley took bankruptcy, Mr. Gasket and Erson are part of the holley group I believe, so that may or may not explain your frustration.
  11. Well, if you don't like that one, then you surely won't like the next one. But if you donate $20, you can be "almost broke".
  12. Well, you are correct about the hp ratings of days of old. It was called SAE gross HP prior to 1972. Then there was SAE brake hp which came after 1972 and was dyno hp with all the accessories. I think what your looking for is wheel hp or effective hp, that which gets to the ground. I don't think any car manufacturers do that as of yet.
  13. Mobythevan sold me a TPI setup complete with megasquirt and hopefully half his megasquirt knowledge. Woohoo, road trip to Colorado to pick it up. Work it baby! I was pondering today about running a glide instead of a th350 as the glide will handle more power. I can build the glide to hold 750hp in the high drum relatively easily and 1200hp if I get a 10clutch high drum. I have 2 spare glides and one th350. Mind you all this is going to be a daily driver. I don't think the glide would be a problem to drive on the street though as the z is awfully light. Pondering stall in the converter and thinking about 2500 to 3000. I've decided to get moser axles for the 9 inch, although I have resplined stock axles already, that way I won't worry about the rear end, besides they are only $300 a pair with backing plates and new bearings.
  14. Yeah, it takes 3 days to tool shed a thread.
  15. I decided to make me a z. I'm starting with this; Basically it's a totally totally rust free '74 260 that I bought as a parts car for the boys 260. I managed to buy a narrowed 9 inch ford last year. I have a th350 that is built with a shift kit and ready to go. I have an alky 357 inch motor that is dart block, eagle 3.5 stroke crank, Carillo Rods, JE 13:1's, AFR220 heads, roller cam. I have a 2 other cars and a host of parts including an intercooler for the z rated to 1000hp. Hmmm, well, why not change pistons in the 357 motor to 9:1, put TPI on it, single turbo, paint it and have my own car. So, this is just the beginning. I need a big friggin turbo.
  16. That's me the tall one in the back talking to Cozy. He's changed alittle, looks alittle more preppy. Ron and Paul still look the same.
  17. Well guys, it is a z site, seems only right. Thanks Ron!
  18. Well, then your budget isn't high enough. Your options are saginaw 4 speed, muncie 4 speed, T5. There is no best and it depends on your rear gear, tire size, desired rpm, etc. etc.
  19. I drove to Sacramento to pick up a 240z from cozy z cole. It wasn't that bad $$$ wise. We had the pinks z transported from Florida to my house here in NM and it was about $1700. Two women hauled it on a flatbed trailer.
  20. Well IMO pressure regulator can only regulate what the pump puts out, sounds like the pump is alittle weak. .5 bsfc per hp is about the norm for gas so if you have a 400hp engine you need 200lb/hr fuel delivery, which is about 31.7 gph give or take some. IMO you need a new pump then go from there. edit; keep in mind that as the pressure goes up, the delivery volume goes down and visa versa. At 40 psi a stock pump will deliver more than 24 gph.
  21. Pretty standard, gas is a hot commodity right now. If they find gas, which I'm sure that they will (they are too which is why they are talking to you) you will be banking a check every month. I could go into details but there is low pressure gas in all the old oil fields. It is your resource, you choose. You can also check on what mineral leases go for in your area and put it up for lease, they have auctions all the time. If they are offering 7 they will go more like 10 to 14K, pooling is just a way of them being able to assign the lease to someone else if they are just acquiring leases to sell rather than being a production company. Bottom line is that a well requires pipelines to a collection point too, so it's a piping system that will be in place, not just a well. Also someone has to come all the time and check the well too so you'll have company man around alot, which has alot of advantages IMO and some disadvantages depending on how isolated you are. As for being open ended, that is to be expected as they would invest a sizeable sum installing all of that. So, if you do decide to go for it, counter their offer, add in what you want and pray that they drill some holes. you could be getting a $1000 or more a month check, just for gas for the next 20 years or more!!! P&A is plug and abandon as previously stated, but would require perforations in the water zone to make it a producing water well, relatively simple IMO. I worked for Schlumberger for 4 years as a field engineer doing oil and gas completions, stimulations and frac's. I own patented mineral rights and property too here in NM so I've been around the block a time or two.
