  1. Nope, your not even close to being as mentally fubar as I am. Keep trying though you'll get there.
  2. Well, this is turning into tool shed material IMO cause you state the weaknesses of the 400 block but then your advocating using one anyway and seem to be stuck on one build. Rod to stroke ratio using a 6 inch rod on a 3.75 stroke crank is 1.6, a 350 chevy with a 5.7 rod is 1.63, so your right there. Running higher static compression is going to put more stress, but the two builds are very comparable cost wise and durability wise, just the 377 will top out at 4500 and the 406 will probaby pull that impeller to 5000 or even 5200 and will rev quicker under load and last longer IMO since you won't be running it flat out all the time like you would with the shorter stroke motor. If you were really into smaller cubes, the 383 is the way to go using the 350 block which would get away from the 400 block all together. Then 500tq and hp are attainable with 10.5 compression and some AFR heads.
  3. You'll never get the 377 to make 520lb ft of torque IMO unless your running 14:1 + on alky. Your still using the 400 block as it is, so why not have cubes, but it sounds like you already have your mind made up so build what you want.
  4. Those are without a doubt world products sportsman II's. The W in the casting is World products trademark casting. Those appear to be angle plug 200 cc versions. There is a date code on them as well to tell you when they were made, which is 1991, that's what the '91 stands for. Worth, not all that much about $300 to $400. There are much better iron heads on the market so they don't bring much anymore IMO.
  5. IMO use a 3.75 stroke, 6 inch h beam rod and your set. There is no such thing as just enough HP and TQ. Build the 406, the 377's have never really been impressive even when compared to the 383's.
  6. Well, there goes the weight savings out the window!
  7. One would question the wisdom of turning up the boost without knowing the particulars on timing, boost, afr's IMO.
  8. There are different "types" of shops. Joe schmoe shop will grind it .010 - .010. A good shop will ask you if you want it index ground, what bearing clearance you want, ie. ground on the low side, split, or the high side, which should give you .001, .0015 or .002 clearance and what chamfer you want. They will also chamfer the oil passage holes. Don't accept a grind that doesn't include chamfered oil passage holes!!!!! A grind shouldn't effect the balance much although it will some, since the thicker bearings weigh less than the crank material or visa versa. Anyway, don't sweat it, it's not that big of a deal.
  9. FYI any steel bolt should stretch .004 to .006 inches to hold. 12 lb-ft isn't going to achieve any measureable stretch unless it's really small diameter. I'm assuming that these are approximately 8mm bolts??? If so the torque should have been almost double that figure at around 21 lb-ft. I think that could certainly be part of your problem. In aluminum it is desirable to have two bolt diameters of thread engagement when tightened IMO. In cast iron 1.5 bolt diameters usually gives sufficient holding strength that is equal to the bolt, depending on grade of course.
  10. Has to be one of the all time best IMO! You one funny guy Aux, no doubt about it. Everytime I see a post of yours, I'm like "WTH now?"
  11. Too funny! How about this one?
  12. Ok, roger, I don't think being around here for 5 months qualifies you as "been around for a while". Just because you have a z doesn't make you an "ol' timer". Secondly Moby punctuated the line with "ha ha ha" so clearly it was a joke. Thirdly, have you read the rules like this one. 12. Don't make personal attacks if someone disagrees with you, and don't take advice given personally. Typed text has no intonation, or expression and the members on this board sometimes come off as being rude, or impolite. Generally this is not the case, so please be a little thick skinned when advice is given that you may not agree with. Your post was clearly something that you should have written in a PM. Moby has given you sound advice, whether you take it or not is up to you. However with your response you might find that others, including moby, may not help you next time you ask a question. Any time any member can find what your asking for by searching, expect to get some flak at the very least and your thread tool shedded for "lack of using the search function".
  13. I think there is something wrong. Aluminum expands more than steel when heated. I'm wondering if your holes were alittle worn or otherwise too big? Are there helicoils in the holes? How much thread engagement did you have? What bolts? What torque on the bolts? Reason I ask that is that I've run GM aluminum flywheels for circle track and on the street in a z with a 327/muncie 4 speed and never seen such a problem.
  14. 2750lb runs 9.84 in the 1/4, straight up.
  15. Well, I got my turbo today, Thanks Andrew (A6t8vw) for coming through. Time to order the lift now and I got a job designing a foundation and a separate new building for the guy that owns the redi-mix concrete company in town. So I'm getting trade for some concrete in exchange for engineering design on the new building and I can get the concrete now. Stinking fantastic when a plan comes together!
  16. Ok, so to clear things up. All upstanding hybridz members move out of NC.
  17. I think the correct phrase is "when pigs fly out of your a$$" Obviously if the rumors are true, it'll be an airport at some point in time eh.
  18. Wow. So what are you doing these days besides drooling over aux's new toys.
  19. You'll have to be more specific on engine size. My guess is that even any v8 is unlikely to break 275hp.
  20. Just goes to show you what happens when you have intercourse with a limp noodle! Yup, you get a sop head every time!
  21. Sounds like a new policy is born. Lack of english, incorrect grammer, punctuation, spelling and you get kicked in the nuts. Ok, we'll call that rule #1. I'm all for that! :hail:
  22. I'm not sure who gave who pointers. I'd like to transplant moby into my shop and lock him in there for a week. No telling what would come out.
  23. can you own guns now or is that a no no?
