  1. Question: How did he know his rim was scratched prior to you all pulling over? Maybe I'm missing something here.
  2. Done both, pulls much larger wheelies foot braking than on the trans brake.
  3. Ok, check out this site http://www.dieselinjection.net I bought my parts from them. I got the ceramic/teflon coated piston kits, +2 size injectors, .080 retarded cam key, fuel pump kit. already had the dual fuel line kit, 4 series mapwidth enhanced turbo, fuel pressure gauge and turbo boot. We should be good for 600FWHP and about 550HP to the ground. Looking for 36 pounds of boost max. Can hardly wait! Old hotrodders make everything fast I guess.
  4. Got a glide already, it's still brutal and pulls mondo wheelies. Jap Tin, been looking at some 18 degree heads, definately in my plans.
  5. Well, it's making 690fwhp now, so another 100 would be about right IMHO. Anyone whose driven an all motor z knows that is a handfull off the line in the 1320 and quite a rush. Going to have to do chassis work to tame the wheelie problem as it is. Thought about spray, but it's hard on parts, thinking of turbo blow through on alky, thinking of blower on alky to be different, may just go all motor either injected or carbed on alky for simplicity.
  6. Well, the 509 doesn't really appeal to me much due to the parts that are in it. Mainly the block concerns me. Those 502 blocks don't hold alot of HP. But, we'll see a 540 would be alot better IMO and is only a call to dart or world products away.
  7. Well, we do have the 509 13:1's, with Merlin 345cc heads available. We also have a 468 10:1 motor that has brodix BB2 heads laying around the shop doing nothing. 357 alky motor sitting there after it's little swimming trip in the ditch thanks to my buddy. I was just thinking of boring and stroking the 357 to 434 and putting alky injection on it for SEZ or DNI or whatever it's called. I pondered the blower, have one available set up for blown alky injection with an enderly bug catcher on it for a sbc. I don't want to cut the purty newly painted hood so it's got to be under the hood, whatever it is. Never played with the TT monte yet, so the timeframe probably isn't right for the turbo option.
  8. The 406 has been running for 6 years now, made I don't know how many passes at the strip (Big stack of time slips). Last time out here it went 10.08 at 132mph. Probably due for a tune up with the boring bar and a bigger stroke crank, what do you all think?
  9. I'll trade you all 4 tires and wheels off my dodge for your z parts! I'll even throw in the spare, tailgate, one door and the floor mats. Might get you the down payment anyway. Good luck!
  10. Well, maybe, I don't agree with the 4 quarts or the timing. IMHO the 4 quarts is a bad idea, buy a dry sump system. Timing depends on how good your combustion chamber is.
  11. Yeah, the KTA's were HUGE! 1150 CUBIC INCHES! Compared to the NTC series at 855 cubic inches it's simply awesome. To see one stuffed in an extended hood truck is amazing, they just look like a total hotrod! Somewhere on the net I saw there was a KTA powered pulling truck making around 2500HP!
  12. Big diesels are made to "inframe" rebuild. The only reason you'd pull the engine is to replace the crank, crank rear seal or machine the block cause you got it too hot. Other than that, it's completely rebuildable in the truck which saves alot of time and expense.
  13. Just got off the phone, parts on order, going to up it alittle to about 550HP this time around. I didn't do too bad, I got about 550,000 miles out of that last build. Cylinder pressure ended up being too high which probably caused this failure, so I'm going to retard the timing a few thousandths to about .080 from the .074 that it was set at. That should lower the peak cylinder pressure Well, I'd think about the cat motors but at $10K plus for an inframe with cylinder head, I think I'll stick with my cummins since this build is only costing me $2300 which includes reman heads, pistons, liners, R&M bearings, gaskets, rings and new injectors.
  14. Hauling one of my loaders to do some work out of town, cruising along and "Bang" rattle rattle, puff, puff, knock, knock, knock, etc, etc. Looks like the #4 piston broke. Limped it on in and unloaded it. Now it's time for an inframe on the NTC400 cummins. Only hard part is finding out what injectors are in it since they were custom built pieces from diesel injection of Pittsburgh. They make NTC 400 engines up to 1500HP! Wonder what I could break with that kind of HP?!!! Mine was loaded with a 4 series holset mapwidth enhanced turbo, turbo boot, dual fuel line kit, fuel pressure gauge, 190psi fuel pressure setting and was laying down 505HP to the tires. Well, at least it was doing that. Oh, well, fun in store for the next few days while a buddy and I fix that. Wish I was working on the z instead!
  15. I weighed the boys 260z with the sbc swap, PG and the 9 inch ford, weighs 2750 with my lard butt in the car. Don't have front and rear weights. Passenger seat is going next, so that should shave about 20 to 30 pounds or so. A aluminum racing seat would shave another 20 or so as well.
  16. Well, I run alky in everything except the TT monte. So water works for me, but I do have several ABC extinguishers on hand in the house and in the shop.
  17. Since this is non z related it goes here in the non-tech forum.
  18. at the rock ebay auction! That is just too funny!
  19. Sounds interesting, what transmission are you planning on putting behind the TT motor? Certainly the the non WC T5 will grenade as would the WC trans behind any kind of power that a TT motor would likely put out. Also you may want to rethink the TT setup, in all but one instance the plumbing is a nightmare. Turbomeister has a nice setup in his z.
  20. tight lash cams have slower opening and closing rates that will allow you to use lower spring pressure rates to control the valves. I'm just curious as to why your chose that cam versus some of the other cam manufacturers?
