  1. A buddy came by, dropped off some serious $$$ and a 400 sbc and wants it, trans and driveline installed in the white 260z I have parked in the yard. He'll get it painted, full interior and it's going to be a street terror! I'll detail the engine build as we go.
  2. Your mojo is doing more than rain! Time to move before it's too late!
  3. If I'm not mistaken, thaagard sells garrets only. The gt35 is very similar, but I'm sure you want to go bigger. I have compared the gt35r side by side but the gt40 or gt42 looks alot better. I have a pair of the same turbos on my monte which barely got on the lift as of friday. I was considering going larger anyway. PM me if your interested.
  4. Well, IMO it depends on what your trying to do. Assuming 1/4 mile, then the converter stall speed is about 500 rpm below peak torque rpm. Gearing should allow you to trap at peak HP. (ie. 6500 rpm max HP, peak torque at 4200, run a 3800 stall converter, with a 26 inch tall tire, probably about a 4.30 gear) Street driving, converter selection is the same, but typically for the street you don't run over a 3500 stall, and gears are whatever gets you your happiest cruise rpm which is about 40 to 50 percent of your redline rpm, which puts you into the engines efficiency range. (ie. 5000 rpm redline would give you a cruise rpm of about 2000 rpm at 75mph, perhaps 2500 if the application involves a heavier vehicle or towing. Peak torque around 2700 rpm so you would select a 2200 rpm stall converter)
  5. Thanks Warren, it's nice to know where not to buy parts from. I buy PG parts from a guy in kentucky, great communication, super fast shipping and is simply the best!!! Makes a world of difference when they pick up the phone and let you know what's happening rather than just making you guess like the guy your dealing with!!! There is no excuse for poor business practices like that!!!
  6. A priest went to hell accidentally, god sent the devil a message, send him up here or else. Devil sends one back, or else what? God says, I'll sue you. Devil says, sorry, I have all the lawyers down here, wanna trade. Lawers should drive Isuzu's, I suE zOu. BSEE, MS Environmental Eng, Minor Math, PE, self employed. Manufacture landscape rock, precious metals, design water and wastewater treatmen plants, subdivisions, roads, sewers, water systems, foundations, etc., etc. General doer of all things. But I wish I was playing with hooters all the time like silicone boy! Starting new sideline of foundations and dirtwork for Palm Harbor Homes.
  7. You should see the other pictures! I had a woody for 2 days!
  8. Your entirely right jon, LL by aviation standards is high lead by automotive standards due to the air cooled engines that run it. They need the lead for lubricant!
  9. Wishing you the best and may all your ups and downs be between the sheets!
  10. Nope, it's tinman and he's running a roller.
  11. The sb2 and sb2.2 heads are quite similar, either can be run on a production gen 1 block depending on camshaft. Does he run a solid flat tappet cam or roller cam?
  12. I'm not advocating "grey" areas. Simply stated, your balance sheets are off if your having to pay at the end of the year, which raises a huge red flag IMO. So, something isn't right in your quarterly statements that needs to be addressed as it appears to the non-informed rich uncle that your overlooking something every quarter.
  13. Ok, enough already. LSx motors are what they are, sbc's are what they are, same for lt1's, etc. etc. etc. If you like one or the other, great, talk technical or don't post. Saying LSx's are better is like saying ford is better than chevy. That argument doesn't work here on Hybridz. Funny, nascar runs the sb2.2, but nobody here has one yet. Maybe I'll be the first.
  14. Well, since my accountant screwed up a couple of years ago, mine goes to pay off the taxes from '05. Being in a successfull business doesn't mean you don't get a refund or necessarily have to pay either. But, that's if you do it right, so that's what I strive for, zero, I don't pay, they don't pay me. Since my wife worked, we got a refund from her income taxes, since she died in '06, I'll still get a refund for last year. But now for '07 that won't happen anymore, since I'll be officially widowed in the IRS's eyes and won't have her income or deductions.
  15. You do realize that this threas was 1 year old, right?
  16. What price did you have in mind?
  17. Hmm, 500Hp is all you can get out of that for that price. I don't think it'd fit but if it would it would be nice, provided money wasn't an issue.
  18. Your right, I notice that yours is still in "stock" trim.
  19. It doesn't blow away the gen 1 heads, the lsx series motors utilize a 15 degree valve angle head. A comparable head from GM or Brodix flows better, at 358cfm at .6 lift. http://www.brodix.com/heads/-15.html It's not apples to apples as you say. Further the lsx series engines regularly use cams with lifts between .530 and .570 with durations in the 220 to 240 range at .050, which is pretty stout. If we you were to compare like types of cylinder heads, cams, and the like, they'd pretty much be the same. The nice thing is that with the lsx series of engines, they come "factory stock" with the goodies, and the price that you can acquire one for make them an ever increasingly good deal. The bonus for the sbc gen 1 is that blocks are available that handle well over 1500HP reliably, not sure that is the case with the lsx engines as of yet. So, if your looking for inexpensive hp, perhaps the lsx series is the way to go. If your looking to make mondo HP then the LSx series is just as expensive, if not more so than the gen1 sbc IMO.

    Thnx admins

Thanks guys. Many of you will notice that on other sites, alot of smack, crap and general flame wars erupt all the time and nothing is ever done about it. Political and religious threads always turn into a flame war and serve no purpose except to put members who have never met at instant odds. Hardly fruitfull. The main objective is to foster and promote the z car in it's various forms of modifications, which includes what works, what doesn't and what if we did this. So, in that endeavor, I'll have to agree with you all, this is truly a wonderfull place to visit and be a member. There was a core group of guys that got this whole thing going, which is masterfully tended to by Dan Porter (SuperDan). Way to go guys, and to SuperDan, you are a great leader! And to borrow from MIB, All hail SuperDan! All hail SuperDan! :hail:
  21. Well Warren, if we kill you, what a way to go! What you going to tell St. Pete? Your going to look awfull funny with a woody standing at the pearly gates! That powder coating is really cool looking. How durable to rock chips is that grill going to be? Is that stuff really that good?

    Most miles?

Towed on a trailer or driven? I think I hold the towed on a trailer trophy.
