  2. You are not looking for a "rebuilt" block. What you want is a long block, and then you rebuild it. A "rebuilder" is a machinist. Ask local speed shops or people who race to find out which machine shop is good, and which one to avoid, etc. There is a guy who posted for sale a 280zxt block(only the block) for 50$CDN a while ago on Ontario Z car club, the ad is gone now but maybe he'll post again sometime later. http://books.dreambook.com/zcar/classified.html I haven't seen anyone who sells long block on eBay neither, usually it's the whole assembly.
  3. Thanks for the replies. What's the internal diameter of the original L28ET AFM? Is the 300ZX MAF bigger in diameter than the L28ET AFM? I have to ask becauseI haven't got my L28ET yet since it is still in shipping. If the 300ZX MAF is bigger, then what is done to make it fit the original pipes? If the maxima MAF is closer to the L28ET AFM size, I could use the original piping. My purpose of the car is for street performance only, would I need the extra size MAF from the 300ZX? Finally, how do I reprogram 300ZX ECU or Maxima ECU? Is there a support site somewhere?
  4. You need OEM fenders, high quality fiberglass fenders or do the work to fix it. aftermarket steel fenders are crap.
  5. check eBay, once in a while it comes up for sale. Usually it's E12-80 because it is the preferred one.
  6. There is a thread that concerns converting NA into Turbo, so if you type N/A Turbo (or maybe NA turbo) into search function you should find it. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104196&highlight=n%2Fa+turbo
  7. I am not quite clear about what you said, please explain some more. For now let me just concentrate on the MAF subject : If I modify the maxima MAF to fit, will it be compatible to 300ZX Z31 ECU? (disregard my maxima ECU question for now) Where on the Z31 is the ECU located? Thanks
  8. Get rid of the loose rust and use Rust Bullet or POR15
  9. Well I kinda disagree with how the cars are ranked. 0-60 time is meaningless considering the tires used in test drive can be different. The only real way to measure how fast a car is, is thru lapping a test track.
  10. I went to local pick-n-pull today hoping to score a 300zx ECU and a MAF but the only thing waiting for me there is detached sensor connections dangling in the wind. There are two Z31's(one NA, one turbo) in the yard but the goodies are gone. Disappointed, I stroll around like a tool lugging zombie. Then I discovered 2 other sedans with VG30 engine in them. One is a unknown year "Shiro", the other a 90 Maxima. The MAF on the shiro is hard to access to. The MAF on the maxima can be removed easily, in fact, I have it stashed somewhere until I check out with you guys. I checked the FAQ but the photo links are dead. Did some searching here and on the internet and found pictures of the Z31 MAF. The Z31 metal MAF has both ends ready to fit to pipes. The Maxima plastic MAF however, has one pipe end and one flanged end with 4 bolt holes. Maxima MAF : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSAN-MAXIMA-AIR-FLOW-AIRFLOW-METER-MAF-SENSOR-89-94_W0QQitemZ8004855931QQcategoryZ33557QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Z31 MAF : http://www.autopart.com/MAFS/MAFS1984NISSAN300ZX.htm Then I found the "maxima MAF adapters" on eBay : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/87-94-95-99-Nissan-Maxima-Air-Intake-MAF-Filter-Adapter_W0QQitemZ8005852555QQcategoryZ33710QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I think I can make the Maxima MAF work, opinions? quick question about ECU in 300zx : Where(please be specific) in the car can I find the ECU? What about ECU from Maxima or Shiro(they all have 3.0L VG30), can they be used as well? Thanks
  11. I have heard that 240Z fenders are very slightly shorter than the 280Z ones. I agree, spend the time looking for OEM. My 260Z came with aftermarket door panels, fenders and headlight buckets. They just don't match into a seamless flow of line and they can't be made to look good unless you coat all of them in thick bondo.
  12. Yeah, the car makers always put out a lot of fancy drawings, but when the real thing comes out....HEY ISN'T THAT INFINITY G35?
  13. You are referring to this site http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:ecpx4tCxCpMJ:www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/ZXPertronix.htm+conversion+zx+ignition&hl=en But it is only cached, the link and pictures are gone from their website, I think. Maybe someone saved a copy of the pictures. EDIT : The zhome.com page does not work right now so maybe just a server problem. wait for a while and see if their page comes back.
  14. Richmond area Hey, very nice pics on your website.
  15. 3 million dollars for a car and the only thing extra is an air brake flap??? Basically the car is a Zonda C12
  16. What car/engine are you running? Have you been tested and failed? If what others recommended does not work, as a last resort, you can bolt on a 3-way catalytic converter(removes NOx, CO, HC) for the test.
  17. Do we have Lada in North America? If we do then it's the cheapest new car available.
  18. I don't see how a "ported" intake can make as much more power as the seller claimed. Port matching may give some improvement, but if the length and size of runner/plenum is unchanged basically it's still a stock intake.
  19. congrats, man. First ride in a V8 Z....my favorite type of thread.
  20. well the stock L28 is rated at 170hp, you are looking for 250hp. That is 47% increase in output from an N/A engine, you are going to spend a fair chunk of change. You'll need at least a stroker motor to get 250hp. The diesel crank alone almost doesn't do anything. If you don't want to spend that much in a fully build stroker, then like ww said, forget the LD crank. I'd spend money on the TB, porting, 3-angle valve job, cam, and more CR....
  21. Jeff, You don't "have to" switch to 280zx dizzy/ignition but it is better that way because it is electronic ignition and gives a hotter spark.
  22. savageskaterkid, I remember taking a glimpse of the article when I was browsing magazines at the gas station. IIRC isn't that only a concept/imaginary engine? A two cylinder engine making all that much power.....the vibration is going to be very bad, I suppose.
  23. 35mm = 1.378" so closer to 1.4" than it is to 1.3" their 1.25" spacer = 31.75mm
