  2. Should have been 9's yesterday! I finally got my launch RPM figured out for the last pass. If I hadn't momentarily gotten out of it, I have a feeling it would have gone 9's. Probably won't make it back to the track this year, just a guess.
  3. I believe it was mostly due to the event. I gradually went faster as the night went on. "tested" in the 12's, "qualified" in the 11's, did the first round on motor (other car was slow) and then hit the gas second round on. Don't be fooled, they were tech'ing strict, but it all worked out! Track manager actually came and shook my hand before the final, thanking us for having the event there! Next year I will be 100% legal... unless I dip below 8.50 LOL
  4. It was a heads up race. Yeah, that was just a terrible pass.... I was very upset with myself afterward. 2 step was set at 4000 on those runs, 5000 on the 1.500 60' run. Car didn't spin at all. The "spin" you saw was the clutch slipping in that one pass I believe. Just first gear burnouts, no need for nitrous until the actual hit.
  5. Lots of fast stick cars there this year. I made it to the final and had a complete abortion of a pass. Went back through right after, and clicked off a 10.20 @ 137 with a 1.500 60'. ... compared to the 2.10 60' in the final. I got out of the last pass momentarily, or the car would have gone 10.0x or 9.9x. Oh well thats racin! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8om4ppJuNNI&feature=youtu.be
  6. What kind of a price point are these at? CCW ish? or cheaper?
  7. Mike, Care to share the wheel make, model, and backspacing (offset)? Also, how are the clearances inside? Coilovers?
  8. The more I read, the more I see failures in them. They seem to hold great... just not forever. After 350 ish city miles I let 'er eat last night. Did a big (standard) burnout on the slicks on some good concrete and left at about 4K rpm. It fell on its face. Should have left off the 2 step with my right foot to the floor! All good as it held the power. It will get some serious abuse this weekend at the strip, but all is well for now!
  9. This bracing helped greatly, but made it a huge PITA to put in. Also, I noticed the last time i put it in that there is still a substantial amount of flex in this mount setup. I plan on making a new cage for this diff over the winter, and including more body mounting points to hopefully make it solid!
  10. LOL. Maybe we should just switch cars for a while Keith! I'm tossing sevreal things around Keith. One them being solid axle. Your take on this is more helpful than most - because they are still considering the strut tube location. I most certainly could do a straight axle with what my last IRS setup cost, but that puts me in a whole 'nother class when it comes to racing and events. If I can keep the IRS, but modify it then I can put a larger tire under a stock body. Who cares what the inner fenders look like, right?! How cool would it be to have an IRS setup that could utilize a 28x 10.50 slick, but sit under a stock body??!?! Probably just a pipe dream, but its a long cold winter!
  11. I'd considering going back to a stock body, and I want to know how large of a tire can be fit on the rear of a stock bodied S30. Not how big you can go with suspension limitations. (Hitting the strut tube, etc.) Can someone measure the inside of the wheel well from the fender lip (specify if rolled or not) to the body (on either side of cutout for the strut tower). I would GREATLY appreciate this!
  12. Well after several long conversations with monster, I bought another clutch disk. Got it installed tonight, and started putting some miles on it. Turns out the pilot bushing I had in the crank was bad. Either caused the disk to fail or the disk failing caused it to fail. None the less, i went back in with a bearing. All is good so far. Took me a grand total of 3 hours to do the clutch change. From pulling it into the garage, to pulling it out. This was two sessions as well.
  13. I want one that is actually going to do its job and stiffen the chassis. Plus, I'm SURE the fit is garbage on a cookie cutter cage.
  14. Squeaking (metal on metal) upon engagement. It was the spring getting sandwiched between the flywheel and the clutch disk making the noise.
  15. This is a Monster Stage 3. Its rated to 700 ft/lb of torque at the tires... in an F body. I had about 10K miles on it, with probably 60 passes on slicks, and another 100 ish launches on the street. Actual material is still in great shape, as are the PP / FW. They all look new. So I should just be a clutch disk from being back on the road.
  16. Hoping to get a new one coming tomorrow. And it was said, " we shall be free".
  17. Probably wont be tracking my car this weekend. I just get kicked out of everywhere I go for not having a cage....
  18. Bias ply myth is no myth my friend. Put a 275 40 17 out front and tell me how she dances! Solid times. That car 60's very well! The best i've managed on motor is a 1.52, granted i havent been to the track with the new tire setup yet, which should help quite a bit.
  19. Hitched as in hitched up to a trailer. I sold the rota wheels i had slicks on. I don't hate trailers. Hell, I'm building one specifically to pull behind this. The truck nuts might be a good idea!
  20. I do not believe thats correct. OP - 60 degree conical seat lugs would be my guess.
