  1. Aside from the bolt on the top for the adjustment arm, there are actually 2 bolts on the lower "hinge" part: one facing to the front of the car, and one on the opposite side, facing the rear. I was puzzled for days why I couldn't budge my alternator before I found out about that 3rd bolt. ^^
  2. I heard the PG/Nismo LSD's are actually made by Fuji Heavy Industries (aka parent co. of Subaru).
  3. Does anyone know how long those clutch-type LSD's typically last (with moderate sport driving) before needing a rebuild?
  4. Would this part allow installation of the finned cover on 280ZX's? Or is the replaced part specific to 1st gens?
  5. I may be interested in a PG R200 LSD for my '82 turbo, depending on price of course. I realize I need to get some kind of spacers; is this something you would be able to get, or would I be able to get from my local hardware store?
  6. Is it really the Nazi swastika, or is it that other symbol which "spins" the opposite direction? I forget which direction is which symbol. ^^
  7. The plaques on my Turbo 280ZX car have a manufacture date of 6/82. It has a T5 tranny. And no, it wasn't a swap. Also, you will find a number of magazine articles, books, and service manuals that will also state that '82 debuted the manual Turbo model in the US (specific citations available once I get home). I am curious what "factory" information are you referring to, as I have never heard of what you stated before.
  8. Incorrect. 1982 was the year the Turbos first became available with the BW T5.
  9. Not only are the suspension designs different, but also, the spring and damper rates would be optimized for the lighter 240Z, and not the heavier 280ZX anyways.
  10. Those taillights were off the '79-81 model year 280ZX's and are direct drop ins.
  11. I'm also considering a stand-alone for my '82 ZXT, even though I'm not having any problems. I heard that with a Megasquirt system, I'd have to swap out distributors because the MS couldn't deal with the timing or something like that. Anyone know if a higher end standalone like Electramotive or TecIII also require swapping distributors or other stuff when installing in a ZXT? It's all so intimidating to me! ^^
  12. Hm, I had a photographer take a pic of my car and I at the MSA show for this ad. I wonder if I made it too.
  13. I'm not too surprised the turbo didn't add much weight. I mean, a turbo weighs, what 10-20lbs? And piping is all hollow, so it shouldn't weigh much. And the EFI stuff is just a few pounds too. On a stock 280ZX Turbo, I think most of the added weight was from all the luxury stuff more than the actual turbo system.
  14. I have kind of a small hand, so all the ball knobs feel too big for me. I'm kind of interested in trying out a tubular/cylindrical knob and a "teardrop/acorn"-shaped knobs. Those kinds have worked for me in video games, but I need to see how it is on a real car. If I can help it, I'm kind of leaning away from the all-aluminum knobs since I'm kind of expecting they'd get pretty hot during the day and freezing in the winter nights.
  15. Any idea how much that thing costs?
  16. Thanks for the feedback guys. Too bad most "tuner shops" and such won't accept returns, so in order to try out some other knobs to see what I like, I guess I'll have to "rent and return" knobs from Pepboys or something. ^_~
  17. Has anyone here ever used a counter weighted shift knob? If so, what are your thoughts/feedback on how the shifting experience feels?
  18. Is it ok to use the Fidanza flywheel with a stock clutch? I thought I saw somewhere a warning saying not to use it on a "Stage I" or stock clutch, implying that a "normal" clutch wouldn't interact well with a lightened flywheel. Unless it's just their way to get you to buy a higher end clutch at the same time.
  19. Oh there's weight transfer alright...just the bad kind.
  20. Perhaps do some research on forums of cars that have such a system and see how each company made theirs work. I'm thinking, if you were truly ambitious and design a some sort of universal retrofit you could even start your own business out of it. ^^ Hmm, I wonder if it'd be easier to retrofit to hybrid or retrofit to cylinder-deactivation.
  21. While we're on the subject, are there any other options for a lighter aftermarket flywheel for a 280ZX Turbo other than Fidanza?
  22. Thanks! Btw, when you wired it up, did you keep that power transistor thing on the side of the coil bracket, or did you eliminate it from the wiring setup?
  23. So YOU're "OLD RICE"! I saw your car at the MSA show this year. Hehe, that license plate was one I had thought of too, cuz my previous car's (Honda) license plate was "RICE RQT" ("Rice Rocket"). ^_~ But my main ZX's license plate is "MACH5 ZX".
  24. Anyone catch the "hidden" stuff? Like in the beginning when Anakin, Obi Wan, and Palpatine are taking a shuttle back to the Senate after the rescue, if you look in the lower right corner while the shuttle's docking, you'll clearly see the Millennium Falcon docking in a lower bay.
