  1. Haha, just what kind of wastegate are you running?? I like the way you put it.
  2. Blaupunkt makes a series of speakers that are particularly thin: http://www.blaupunktusa.com I'm using a now-discontinued set of thin Blaupunkt speakers on mine.
  3. I always hear those S15 6-speeds weren't as sturdy as the other Silvia 5-speed trannies. So I'm sure putting the torque of the bigger 6-cylinder motor through it would hasten wear on it.
  4. Have you seen those gun safes that're meant to be mounted to the underside of a desk? Heh, I wonder if mounting one of those in the car would be considered a secure locked location. Either way, if the gun is in a locked glove box, it still wouldn't be readily accessible in an emergency. Just keep a knife tucked by your seatbelt buckle so you can slip it in your hand when you unbuckle your belt to get out.
  5. Heh, welcome to the wonderful world of being a 280ZX owner. I still wouldn't give mine up for any other, but I still gotta face the fact that there's hardly squat for our cars without a whole lot of custom work. For your airdam question, the aftermarket airdam rests on/attaches to the metal inner bumpers, so you're not really saving much weight since you're only removing a urethane bumper cover, not the heavy metal part.
  6. I don't know about that rocker switch (sounds like a "sport mode" switch to allow it to rev higher before shifting), but "OD" stands for "OverDrive". For the most part, you want to leave that activated (I don't even know why they bother putting it there) that allows your transmission to get into its top gear.
  7. I hear if you email them, they can also get them for the front too at about the same cost.
  8. So I've seen wheel adapters that go from 4x114.3, 0-offset to 4x100 +42-offset and the concensus seems to be that they're a pretty reliable solution to fitting wheels. However, I'm wondering what the opinion is on a 2-piece 4-lug to 5-lug adapters in terms of reliability/sturdiness. Modern Motorsports doesn't sell the 2-piece 4-to-5 lug adapters, but Techno Toy Tuning does (http://technotoytuning.com/t3_site_pages/products/wheel_adapters.html). So I'm just wondering if there's an inherent problem with them being 2-piece. I don't plan on drifting or anything hardcore like that, but I do plan the occasional AutoX or road course and don't want my wheels falling off!
  9. Can you just close the garage door? I realize you'd lose ventilation and daylight, but it'd muffle a lot of the noise. Just what is it you're doing that makes so much noise? If it's non-stop grinding and drilling with power tools, I can certainly understand how that'd get annoying if done all the time.
  10. Haven't you heard? It's about time for the Winter Olympics, and Synchronized Lane Changes is one of the new sports.
  11. I dunno about the 1st gens, but I know for a 280ZX, 225/50 wouldn't be equal to the stock tire/wheel diameter. It would need to be 225/55-15 (virtually impossible to find) to equal the diameter of a stock 205/60-15 tire (Turbo, specifically). So for ZX's, you're stuck either going bigger with a 225/60 or smaller at 225/50. That's why I'm trying to find a lightweight 16" wheel that'll fit, so I can use a 225/50-16 and have it be the correct diameter. To bad these Rewinds don't seem to come in 16's as far as I've seen.
  12. Thanks for the responses guys. However, doesn't bleach damage/discolor fabrics of all types? If so, is there an alternative that won't simultaneously destroy colored/dyed materials? I think I read detergent is also effective against mold and I would assume that would be ok if they mean clothes-washing detergent. Since kitty litter is frequently used to absorb spills, do you guys think it might make a good dessicant in a very humid, enclosed area? If not, is there some other readily available material that would make a good dessicant?
  13. Can someone tell me what's a good way to kill/get rid of mold? Is there a spray or something I could get from the hardware store?
  14. What size tires did you run on those 16x7.5" wheels? I'm planning 225/50-16, so I'm worried about strut clearance on my '82 Turbo if I did get +20 offset. Besides, strut clearance aside, wouldn't the +20 put extra stress on the hub bearings?
  15. I saw this wheel website that has a section of wheels that will fit the older Z's, at the bottom: http://www.upgrademotoring.com/wheels/volk_fitment/nissan.htm They have a 16x7" wheel with a +20 offset being an acceptable fit. I know our offset is supposed to be 0, so wouldn't that put the wheel too far in? Is the seller smoking crack, or is +20 is an acceptable margin of error?
  16. About how much do these Trak Lites go for? The weight puts them on par with Volk TE37's of the equivalent 15x7" size, but I hope the the price isn't too!
  17. I totally hear ya on the 280ZX being a compromise/transition car. But rather than thinking of it as not being good enough for either side, I choose to view it as a positive. I like to think of it as "more classy than modern cars, and more comfortable/practical than older cars". I agree the 1st gens look better, but the 280ZX still looks close enough that I'm happy, and I get stufff I like, such as power windows, AC, etc.
  18. Funny...because it's true.. ^o^
  19. I'm assuming shooting flames out the back hella screws up the catalytic converter?
  20. They had a promotion last month where it was like 30% off if you bought a set. So it was something like $1500 or $1600 shipped for a set of 15's. Even though I found a style I really liked in the Classics section, I had a hard time justifying the price if it wasn't superlight at that price level (ie Volks, Watanabe's, etc)
  21. Is there any way to save that to my hard drive?
