  1. The black top SR20's (starting with the S14) had variable valve timing, while the red tops do not.
  2. Ooh! Good point! Haha, some good brainstorming goin' on up in here! I do not have an intercooler, so the intake charge isn't being cooled by anything (though I haven't raised boost pressure yet either).
  3. To anyone with a 280ZX Turbo, I have quick favor to ask: Could you please take a quick look at your coil and tell me which color wire goes to which polarity?! I'm a little embarassed, but I forgot to note which color wire goes to which side (positive/negative) of the coil! ^^;;; Turns out the colors are different than the NA engine, so my NA ZX was of no help. And the service manual was unclear to me as to the coil polarities. Thanks!
  4. Thanks guys, I think I got the answer to my question. Btw, I have a 280ZX Turbo, so it's no secret how hot that can get. The fuel cooler I mentioned looks like a 2-pass tube-and-fin section of piping (like a tiny oil cooler). I figured I could simply splice the cooler between the fuel filter and fuel rail and mount it on the right side of the radiator.
  5. This may seem like an unusual question, but does anyone know about how hot the gas gets by the time it gets to the fuel rail (particularly for an L-engine)? The reason I ask is because I saw a fuel cooler from Flex a Lite that mounts inline with the fuel lines for cooling the gas. But I was thinking, just how hot could the gas be if it was just in the tank, pumped, and filtered? Shouldn't the temp not be much higher than ambient? Or does radiant heat soak from the exhaust under the car, fuel pump heat, etc. increase the temp of the fuel?
  6. You mean the KYB GR-2's, right? Anybody have any review comparison between the KYB GR-2's and the Tokico Blues? (like which is sportier, which is softer, durable, etc.)
  7. I'm sure someone's used stock shocks would be about as cheap as you can get.
  8. Craigslist does have sections for other areas of the country.
  9. I've been running 87 octane on my stock '82 ZXT also. I do feel a bit better about it since the owner's manual does say it's ok to use 87 (and I'm not having any problems, so...)
  10. To clarify/specify my previous question, does anyone know the actual #'s of the spring rates for the 280ZX turbo? (or know where I might be able to find the answer) I'm researching custom spring rates and I need the original rates so I know where I'm at in relation.
  11. Part of Yokohama's marketing for the ES100's is pointing out how they're used by top drift cars. That being said, they must be made to let the rear end slide! =P
  12. I would love to clean up my intake manifold, but I just have no idea what's "expendable" or re-routable. ^^ I don't want to lose any daily drivability or get hassled for messing with my emissions stuff. So, any tips on what's easily removable/re-routable on the L28ET?
  13. I had actually heard the 280ZX Turbo's had a softer suspension than the NA ones. Does anyone know the actual spring rates for the Turbo models? I tried a search on both here and Google and came up with nothing (this thread was the closest thing).

  15. I'm selling one of my turbo 280ZX's, but I'm in CA, so that probably doesn't help. ^^
  16. mxs666, since it's people's choice, did you stand by your car to talk to people and drum up support/votes? What did yours look like? I'm wondering if I have a pic.
  17. My stock '82 turbo 280ZX's oil temp needle hardly rises beyond the first segment of the dial (starts at 160), and that's only if I'm driving for awhile. Is something wrong with the gauge/sender, or does the stock turbo engine just run that cool?
  18. All three have been rereleased at ToysR Us. However, they did knock the price down to $20. I'm hoping it'll go even lower. ^^
  19. Hehe, maybe it's just coincidence, but the area code for the East Bay Area, across from San Francisco, is "510".
  20. Offset is "0". Alternatively, I don't offhand remember what the backspacing is, if the wheel you're looking at goes by "backspacing" instead of offset.
  21. I'm a big fan of Lost too. But I just know they're never going to reveal any real answers for as long as the show runs. Cuz once they do, it's over.
  22. That SMART's such a cute little car, I feel sorry for it.
  23. What kind of inlet and outlet adapaters do I need to get for the 280zx?
  24. Are those headers suitable for an LS1?
  25. I don't think pushrods are junk, but I did grow up with the import crowd that had the traditional dislike/rivalry of "American Muscle". I admit, I simply don't know anything about American engine designs, but am still interested in it. Heh, I take it from the name that there are some sort of rods that push something?
