  1. Anyone offhand know if the 280ZX has any more clearance for an LS1 T56, or if that still needs to be massaged?
  2. From the looks of the V8 installation above, does having a V8 mean you can no longer fit a front strut bar? I've got a '82 280ZX that I'm considering installing an LS1, but I really dont' wanna give up my front strut bar.
  3. I dunno what else might fit a 2+2, but I know you can order custom spring rates from Ground Control, so that's one option.
  4. I would imagine there's greater weight on the back of the 2+2, and so 2-seater springs may not be optimized to handle/balance it. So maybe it might fit but not handle that great.
  5. Ooh! That's a good one! Last week, someone tried scamming me (I'm selling one of my cars) with the ol' "I'll have my 'Financial Institution' send you X amount of money and you refund us the difference"-scam. I played with him, punching holes in his nonsensical story. Do you mind posting/PMing me the FBI address so that I can do the same thing next time this happens? Is it their cyber-crimes division that you had them send it to?
  6. The S15 setups are surprisingly expensive, so that sounds about right. Heck, I've seen 'em go for almost $5000!
  7. I'll be rolling down with the Bay Area caravan. This'll be my first time. I can't wait to check out some HybridZ's in person to help decide what I want.
  8. I don't suppose they could do the retumbling while the locks are still in the doors/trunk, huh?
  9. I'd be interested, but I'm guessing it'd be expensive as heck for all that, not to mention the labor of installation.
  10. If you add vinyl stripes, just be sure to give the paint a good wax job beforehand to minimize any paint effect if you choose to remove them later.
  11. The octane # in the US isn't a percentage, but rather the average of the MON and RON #'s (there's stickers posted on gas pumps showing this). I forget what they stand for, but they're some other numbers rating. Anywho, the reason I asked what was available that long ago is I'm wondering what type of gas the engineers back then designed the engines to run on. Because, if I can get away with regular 87 octane in my stock 280ZX turbo, I'd be that much happier (I'd read in a book that it ran on "regular unleaded").
  12. Now to find a good way to stop porn/meds/etc. spam email!
  13. Hey, I just had a random thought: what about mounting these things at the mouth of the radiator opening to smooth flow or whatever through the cooling system? I wonder if the Airtab people considered their applications for motorsport use or what they might have to say about putting it on a small, relatively aerodynamic (compared to a truck) vehicle.
  14. I thought I heard somewhere that the finned cover doesn't fit without modification into a 280ZX because of some sort of clearance issue? In any case, isn't there some sort of issue of 12mm bolts of the Z31 to the 10mm bolts of the S130, or does that only matter regarding the LSD itself, and not its cover?
  15. I just sent that same seller an email before I saw this thread here. I assumed the price was just a typo and mainly just corrected their misinformation.
  16. Hey SpeedRacer, you might get a kick out of my theme: ^_~
  17. Actually, I have a video of some tiny hatchback car in Europe where they turned the seat around, put steering on the rear wheels, and effectively drove it backwards. It was hilarious! And you could still turn the front (now rear) wheels too, so at one point, the car was driving at like a 45-degree angle straight down the road. For flipping around a Z, the taillights are easily popped out and replaceable with headlights. Hehe, and as an "emergency 'chute", the hood could be popped as an airbrake.
  18. Hehe, that's ok, I'm just as interested in aerodynamics and its effect on gas efficiency. Is a "4L60" a manual or an automatic transmission, and how many gears does it have? Does a T56 bolt up to regular 350, or does it only fit on the LS1? Also, comparing an LS1 to a 350TPI (what's the "TPI" mean?), do they both use 87 octane, or does the LS1 require premium? I've been told at Chevy dealers that the Corvette uses 89 or 91 octane.
  19. One word: Locksmith. I lost the key to my 280ZX gas cap and was trippin' like crazy, but one call to AAA and they sent out a locksmith right away and got it off in less than a minute.
  20. I'd already done a search with keywords like "fuel efficiency" and "gas mileage" with "V8" but didn't find anything. I'd been hesitant to consider swapping a V8 into my 280ZX because my impression has always been that they're "gas guzzlers". I honestly don't know that much about American engines and all the codes and names, so I could use a lil' help here. So I'd like to ask y'all here what is a good engine/tranny/engine management setup for the best fuel efficiency (it'd be even nicer if it ran on 87 octane) in a 280ZX? I know the 350 is the most common swap, but would an LS1 be more efficient because it's newer/lighter/fuel-injected? From bits I've gleaned around here, it sounds like a T56 is some kind of 6spd tranny that would be good for mileage (and performance) because of the 6th gear. Though I get the impression that it's really expensive or rare or something. Is there an auto tranny that's also got good mileage too?
  21. Where did you weight it at? I've always wanted to weigh my car, but unsure if those truck weigh stations would let me or be accurate for such a relatively small vehicle.
  22. What do you mean, test the max speed a hot wheel type car can stand? Do you mean a 3" Hot Wheels car? If so, how did the 280Z play into their test?
