  2. Thanks ! Thanks ! I am on a mission to get it done!! Deja, We got some rain over here in Hiram, I needed 55 degrees or warmer and no humidity to spray the underhood paint. Once I got the old drivetrain out, I have been waiting for at least two months for the temperatures we had this past weekend to paint. Brian, We used rattle can Dupli-color self etching primer, and the next day I sprayed with a gun Eastwood semi-gloss underhood black. It cost about $25.00 a quart, and once thinned it sprays well. I did remove paint with dremel in tight areas and steel brush on a drill. The battery tray area got treated with a rust ecapsulator as well. Davy Z My parents (My Dad and me!!!) lucked out when they decided to leave Las Vegas after retiring from San Diego(traffic, more new construction and congestion)They decided to moved to Georgia, found this house in my subdivision -right around the corner from me !!! The rest is history. I am going to stick with the silver-gray metallic. I am budgeting for the Arizona 5 lug brakes (I need to upgrade the brakes) but also for the selection and prices on 5 lug wheels that are 17 x11. The options are slim and more costly with the 4 -lug Z bolt pattern.
  3. I have a B & M Quick Silver shifter, and I will install it before we set the engine in place, so hopefully linkage want be and issue. Also, I was reading this Hot rod set-up and saved it my transmission file. He has a section on how he runs lines, also that Compu-shift software he has will also run Paddle shifters. I am spending money my wife don't know about !!!!! So I am spending while I can. Thanks http://www.ocmhz.com/33_coupe_trans1.htm
  4. Here are two of the top of my list:
  5. Deja, I thought I had cut and grinded too much off on the passenger side !!! i am planning on pounding on it . Hopefully my mounting hardware will be here by Wed. and I can jump on it Thursday-Saturday. For the tranny cooler lines, Bowtie Overdrives has a 4L60E sidemount radiator cooling line kit that you trim to fit. Once my lines and the JTR radiator arrive I will post a write up good or bad.
  6. Your list is similar to mine !!! Summit (Aeromotive fuel regulator, spark plugs, Taylor wires and Summit had the lowest price for Corvette rails covers, unless you catch a deal on Ebay. Jegs (Fuel Lines, grommets, Autometer guages, -an fittings) For NOS z-stuff Black Dragon(Victoria British) 280 zx Master Cylinder Keep a pad and a pen with you at all times, you will be thinking about parts needed all the time!!! Glenn
  7. Decent weather in Georgia finally!!! I got a chance to primer Friday and paint the engine bay Saturday. Also Friday had a large box waiting for me!!! I will post more details about that in the Bodykit paint forum -here is two pics. More to follow. 1.Talk to John at Speartech new Harness and ECM taken care of. 2.Spoke to Mike at JTR, just waiting for Headers and then he can ship the other LS1 parts. 3. Spoke to Johns Cars Inc., Mounting Kit on the way except for Driveshaft. Anyone using Johns Cars Inc. driveshaft, you need give him the pilot flange diameter, Pilot bolt circle diameter and size of your bolt holes -this will expedite things. Need to order brakes, wheels and tires and then the next week or so once the main mounting parts are here-motor and trans goes in !!!! Thanks Mike (m1noel) I think I am clear on the fuel lines.

    Porsche 930 flares

I could not resist --I will install these once I get the drivetrain and brakes done.
  9. Great Progress Deja !!! You are keeping me motivated. I am planning on "massaging" the passenger side a bit more based on your update. Thanks
  10. Those tires are 345/35-15 Pirelli p-Zero Giallo $400.00 a pop !!!! Would not want a nail in those.
  11. I was all everything in high school-the plan was pro baseball and/or football before Bo Jackson !! A knee to the neck change my whole life plan for the better. Went to Junior College got a AA degree in Sociology-while in junior college worked as a procurement analyst and buyer, decided I needed a change of scene. Moved to Atlanta got Bachelors in Economics, started working for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage as Production Supervisor -went up the corporate ladder got burned out, started my mortgage document service business. Changing banking laws hurt my business, so I got back into procurement and parts distribution with a major parts supplier. Now that my children are older, I am considering going back into mortgage banking.
  12. That is real nice ! and pre-bent to OEM Specs.
  13. I just received my e-mail back from John at Speartech and he presented my options and what information he needed. From reading previous posts, I am reading that you guys who used Speartech bought a new stand alone harness configured to your specifications, rather than modifying the harness that came with your motor/transmission? What would be the best route -modify harness or buy new stand alone? Thanks
  14. Clive when you run your fuel lines please post pics and your thoughts.I have read the posts about braided lines and smelling gas-and this is one area I have not decided on. Qwik240z - Your car is one of my favorites!!! That picture you have in your avatar is good motivation.
  15. Deja, Fantastic !!!Me, you and EvilC and probably a few others are on our way to the darkside !!!! I was hoping for SEZ as well, however some plumbing issues with the house and XMAS !!! push timeline back by 2-3 months. I looked at the EZ-wire harness and the Painless Harness, but I ended going with a Summit Harness. I helped Roy re-wire his V8 -Z with a Summit harness and it was not that bad- make sure you ground were possible and keep checking for continuity !!!! keep the update and the photos coming !!!!! Quick note I read in previous posts that guys had to pound the trans tunnel to make room for the 4L60 E - Will your transmission crossmember attach to the old location? My reason for asking is because I cut/grinded those ears flush to the trans tunnel to make room for the 4L60E.
  16. Clive, I just spoke to Mike at John's Car and sent my order sheet, I am going to keep in mind what Vinh has indicated- if the angles are not too my liking fabricating is in order. I have a 280 so I will be receiving what you have pictured above.
  17. I know Mike Kz !!!! I finally put together a plan and spreadsheet (budget)that in the end I will be satisified with the car. Hilborn injection would have been nice on a 383 stroker and TKO 600 but the reality of the wallet set in !!!! Mike Thanks !!!! Mike (Powdercoater) I really wanted to come out this past weekend, but I am putting off some the C5 stuff for awhile and spend the weekends and maybe 1 or 2 days during the week on the Z swap if the wife permits !!! Clive the total cost was $3,690.00 ( $3000 for drivetrain) $525.00 shipping and a $75.00 motorized pallet jack and residential delivery , 90.00 paypal 3%. I will get some more pics uploaded-Me and my Dad (70 years old) stripped the LS1 of the F-body accessories, the PCM /harness, MAC headers and old hoses cleaning it up a bit.
  18. Thanks Vinh, I have read your posts and I saved that wiring information you provided for HeavyZ. Also, In my notes I have your information about the Autometer guages (Speedo and Tach) configured to 4 cyl. Good Info. I am going with John at Speartech because I want to install paddle shifters, extend the harness and do the usual deletes Vats, emissions etc..... True, a bit pricey!!!But, he does great work. I will keep wait4me performance and jesses' name in my notes just in case !!!! Thanks,
  19. After 4 years of wanting to swap in a V8, and two years of researching every engine combination, I got a 2002 WS6 LS1/4L60E with 33,000 on the ticker on EBAY.JTR are parts are paid for should arrive any day now, Street and Performance and Summit Parts on the way as well. I need to order the JCI parts, I have not had time to get to bank or post office, I wish he accepted credit card or paypal !!! I removed the Engine harness and computer and getting ready to send off to Speartech. I went with automatic because 1. My C5 is a six speed and 2. The Twist Machine paddle shifters are in the plan (budget). Complete electric harness, big flares, big brakes and big tires !!!!
  20. Congratulations EvilC (Clive)!!! Looks familiar !!!I am about to send out my order to JCI on Wednesday, what issue did you run into with the tranny crossmember? I have 77, 280 and going with a 4L60E.
