Davy, My wife is from Boston, (Cape Cod to be exact)her family is from the Cape Verde islands and speak fluent Portugese (spelling?). My folks were born in the south and left partly because of the social ills, but left the south more for opportunity. For me it is ironic, I came to the South (Georgia) for school and opportunities and it has worked out. I have no plans for leaving !!!!!

Davy, I love Georgia, came here for school, cost of living and housing prices. I left San Diego, CA in 1988. Also, I just help my parents re-locate here to Hiram last summer and they love it as well. I am coming out Saturday ( wish I could drive the Z !!!!)I can give you all the Pros and very few cons for moving to Georgia from a former California resident !!!!

Update Sanderson(JTR) Header and JCI Mount
Dudeboy replied to Dudeboy's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Another angle of this clearance issue could be that my 30 year old car could be off ? Cutting, grinding and welding in the corner of the JCI Driver mount took 30 minutes at best, getting the engine in and out was hell !!!! I was looking at the spark plug wire angles as well, I am going to take look at the heat resistant looms and/or header wrap were the spark plug wires touches. These are the Taylor wires, as a back up I will pull out the stock wires see how the angles are. Also, I am using a the Lokar LS1 dip stick, so the passenger side of the motor slid right into the mount with no clearance issues. I spoke to John at Speartech and I should have my computer and harness by Friday !!! I feel some all nighters coming. -
Update Sanderson(JTR) Header and JCI Mount
Dudeboy replied to Dudeboy's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
VinhZXT, Thanks for that photo !! I had to go back into my notes and pictures, and I was sure I removed all the bosses. If I am looking at your picture orientation-the left corner is were the oil filter is? Take a look at this photo, I removed bosses on both sides at the rear of the block (right below the header bolt.) I can not remember if there was another I removed bit lower ? the headers fit fine and are flush? But, i will take another look I took a look at a picture Dale posted of his driver side header, and I think the header jig is just a bit off on some of the headers. I hope it is a boss I miss removing, by this weekend the motor will be in !!!!! Thanks VinhZXT -
Update Sanderson(JTR) Header and JCI Mount
Dudeboy replied to Dudeboy's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I am doing a LS1 swap. I read some of the earlier posts about the header /driver side issue. I was hoping not have this problem and move on to the fuel line, accessories, radiator/fans and body/chasis electric and fire it up !!! Oh well that is hot rodding !!!! -
Finally drop the motor in !!!!The only hiccup we ran into was the driver side sanderson header (1 3/4) from JTR and the JCI mount. I took a dremel to the rear edge of the mount and cut the corner and then we welded in a triangle shaped flat piece of steel. Will need to trim the corner just a little and were good to go. Need to finish fuel line in engine bay and start to work on engine/chasis electric, Autometer guages/dash order driveshaft once the motor and tranny mounts are in place. *Quick note* I decide not to use the nutserts for the transmission mount. Went to Tractor supply bought some 5/16 grade 8 zince plated nuts/bolts/ lockwashers and I will use some Loctite as well.

Coming along slow !!! Saturday, layed out the few lines before we installed in car (Steel Braided engine bay, new hardlines lines to tank and then GM fuel injection hose at tank) and I ended a few -6an couplers and adapters short. Went down to Summit today and picked them up. I am waiting for the harness and then I am dropping motor in and hooking up accessories. I bought a Longacre carbon fiber ignition switch panel with toggles !!!! I am planning ahead for the electric part with the new electric harness.
-
You got a busy schedule !!!But, you are making things happen. Are you getting your harness from Speartech? My reason for asking, I sent my PCM to Speartech and ordered a harness about a month ago and hopefully should be ready soon. By the way, I like those MOMO seats and the slider mod.

I am not one to nag or constantly e-mail/phone a vendor about the parts I order and pay for in full. However, I realize I am living in two worlds; Corvette world and Datsun Z world !!! In Corvette world parts are on the shelf and many choices and options including how and when you want the parts shipped,(next day, second day or ground). In the Z world most shops are becoming extinct andor have switch to catering to another market and do not have the parts on the shelf. So, for me communication of the delays is key, a quick e-mail or phone call. John's car communicated they were having problems getting the driveshaft measurements correct because of the different transmissions. Mike (Greg) JTR told me the delay for not receiving the headers with the rest of parts, and now I understand and I am patient. I have come to find out Street and Performance had and an employee issue that they handle, they straighten out my order and I received my parts. So, If there are any delays or problems just send out a quick e-mail or phone call and most will understand.

For the most part JCI (for me) has been great to deal with. John's Cars, Summit, Jegs, Black Dragon (Victoria British), Arizona Z Car and Speartech have come through. I pay my money order parts and then they are delivered. JTR ?Nice guys, great parts, but I am still waiting for my headers. Dareena at Street and Performance told what the problem was (bad employee no longer there) my order was cleared up and shipped. Parts received as ordered.

Hey Mike, Very Ironic !!! My box had holes throughout, and several of the nuts and bolts were throughout the box (I am missing 1 bolt for sure). Also, as you indicated because of the diffrence between the GTO and F-body tranny, John told me to call him back with the tailshaft/flange measurements and he would have the driveshaft made and shipped witihn two days. Me and my Dad have been reading the instructions over and over again to be clear on everything. Your pictures on cardomain made putting together and installing the mounts a breeze. We only work on the car for 4-6 hours on Saturday or Sunday. Mike and John have been fine to deal with, and the parts are top notch, except I am not to keen on the nuts/bolts used for the tranny crossmember mount, the instructions could be clearer and the packaging for shipping could be more secure. JTR stuff finally came Friday (radiator, cold air plumbing), I am still waiting for my headers from JTR. Again thanks for the fuel line info !!! That is next week. Glenn

Looking good Clive, I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner about the guages. I have the Autometer Ultralite Electric Speedo and Tach, and the other guages are stock. I am changing the faces to white face guage templates.
