  1. Good morning, Forrest, that was the first book I purchased and there is another one I purchased from Speedway that is pretty good. I talk to guy who did his on electric for his Factory Five Cobra and he stated all the basic stuff -take your time, do one area at a time, lay the harness out and write down the electric blueprint. I found out later this guy is a electrician by trade !!!! I Understand the foundation of chassis electronics, but to apply what I have read is another thing.
  2. Finally, I am back in the garage and saved up a few more dollars to buy more parts. So, I have read the stickys' and read every post about chassis electrics. I ripped out the electric stuff with the plan of installing all new electric harness myself, but I have come to the conclusion car electrics is my limitation. I can do engine work, brakes, suspension and even bodywork but electric outside of stereo equipment some of it makes sense and other parts do not. So, I confess !! I am in search of someone or a hot-rod / race shop that can do the chassis electric in Georgia. I am still doing everything else, but I can not mess with the electric stuff, it has been on my mind for awhile and after a co-workers car burned up in the parking lot today- I think it was a sign !!!!!!!!!!
  3. I have a co-worker who made it a point to make sure I read the article in Motor Trend "Corvette Killer" and email the video of the assembly process. Even though there assembly process is great, for the money I would go ZO6 and a used one at that (prices are going down). The GTR may find it's niche, but GM has the new Corvette ZR1 due out, and I do not think Nissan can counter punch the ZR1. Just my 2 cents.
  4. There is some great information here on Hybridz that can steer you in the right direction, but for a 240sx swap there are a couple of threads on LS1tech.com in the Conversions and Hybrid forum with complete swaps with details for drag racing or drifting.
  5. Admins if this is the wrong place for this post I apologize, please move to the right forum. As I am getting back into the garage to work on my car, I came across this. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=816065
  6. They look like Bogart wheels? http://www.bogartracingwheels.com/ Keizer also makes a wheel that looks like those as well.
  7. I have been watching Spike (Musclecars ?) as there are building that mustang as well. I should have been recording that show !!!! The foam can bought at most boat repair shops or order on-line from a boat repair specialty house.
  8. smoorenc, I do not want to hijack your thread, but your question brought about another issue Mark and 1tuffz pointed out. I have a 77 Z, JCI/Walbro Pump (I need to check my fuel pressure regulator for a vacuum port) and it looks just like qwik240z set-up. What fuel pressure regulator ? and/or is a vaccum line needed?
  9. Mull, Thank you for the translation. "cutting into 8 pieces" is interesting.
  10. I lost that photo of the Gray? Blue Z on my crashed laptop ??? Thanks for posting. Ken, that is the other Z that was discuss in the bodykit forum, from the photos it looks like they modified a RSR or Turbo bumper to fit on the lower fascia of the datsun.
  11. Here is rear shot of the two pieces of fiberglass; and another shot of the yellow z
  12. Ken, I agree with your thoughts on fitting these flares. I knew working with steel would have been beyond my skills as far as getting the shape just right like that Yellow Z. So, I moved them around to see what angles and attachment points would work. First, I need to trim and attach the bumper extension to the flare, and make it one piece. I plan on running a 315/35-17 tire and a 17 x 11 or 12 wheel with a negative offset, so I think from the (torsion bar)? hole in front of the flare and forward will need to be trimmed and re-shaped. I can then address how far forward or rearward to attach flares with wheels and tires on car. The yellow z is running 335/35-17 tire, I do not know the offset of the wheel, but the fit is just right. The great thing about fiberglass flares, you can cut them up, shape them how you want and even make them wider if needed particularly the Porsche fiberglass flares.
  13. Ken, Those are the flares in fiberglass. The only part I am not sure about the Yellow Z is what bumper he utilized or just a bumper insert. I purchased the flare bumper insert, rather than trying to modify the complete bumper to fit the rear. Here is picture when I received them just to get a idea of what I was getting myself into.
  14. Ken, Here is the web page with one of two early Datsuns that I know of with Porsche 930 flares (steel). http://www.grombil.com/Grombiler/Extreme_styling/TRS_z240/DSCF0060.jpg I like the look of the rear 930 flares so I purchased a set from Rennspeed in fiberglass. I hoping to be on to the body work by the first of the year, and I will post pics once I get started.
  15. Congratulations Clive, The photos (Vinh convention photos) and the videos are keeping me motivated. I am about month away from getting busy !!!! Very nice and keep the updates coming.
  16. My first thought was Epsilon also, possibly Enkie 92? or for a short time there was a wheel called Riken.
  17. This thread could not have come at a better time !!! Just like most here with work, wife, kids, dogs and helping my parents relocate here to Georgia. From January of this year to July, me and my dad worked on the Z every Saturday from 9 am to 3 to 4 in the afternoon. So, my son has been asking me and wife to let him play tackle football for 2 years !!! My wife signed him up without my final O.K. !!! Also the daughter was signed up for cheerleading !!!! So Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after work I am at the field to 9:30 at night. The games are on SATURDAY !!! I have to be at the field two hours before the game for "official weigh in". Don't get me wrong I love football, I was a middle linebacker stud from Pop-warner all the way to high school, and one blow to my neck ended my opportunity to play college ball. My son is not the next Lawrence Taylor, he has the body to play football, but he is only playing because his friends from school are playing, and for me that is not enough. But, I am being supportive, so I can not wait for the season to be over so I can get back in the garage.
  18. You may want to take a look at a Cobra website, like Factory Five or Cobra Country. Is it the pin drive wheels you shooting for ? or getting those wheels with knockoffs? or both? http://www.vintagewheelsus.com/
  19. When I was researching prior to getting my LS1, and looking at different drivetrains I found a company in California that do dune buggy and off-road vehicles and the Northstar V-8 is there specialty. Do a search for Northstar or Cadillac on this site and the link should be posted. If you pursue this swap, it can be done with skill and/or deep pockets !!! Good luck. Found it http://www.chrfab.com/ . Quite a few posts in other V8 about the Northstar V8.
  20. They got me to Damn !!!! But it is possible !!!
  21. ragefear, Great photos and keep the photo documenting coming as you progress, I need the motivation.
  22. Sh$@&*T !!!! My wife is always watching the Discovery channel when it is Shark week to watch the flying sharks !!! That is crazy !!!
  23. I snatched the ac, heater and blower out, because I knew i was not running AC. But, there were few times coming home later in the evening a defroster was needed when the car was running. In my search for alternatives, I came across the Flex a lite mojave heater and plenum (the plenum is just a hard plastic piece to attach hoses to connect to defrost channel a bit costly). I am trying to figure out how I am going to mount, as soon as I get back in the garage. My car will be primarily a street car and some track days.
  24. Hey Warren and Deja, I may have to hit the graveyard shift to get my car up and running !!!!! It is good seeing everyone making progress on projects.
  25. I am so jealous !!!! That had to be fun. My neighbors are waiting for me to drive down the street !!!!( Most of the neighbors are car guys with there on projects).
