  1. JTR headers is the best way to go. The headers are not the issue, it is so tight on the drivers side of the engine bay, a 1/4 to 3/4 of inch makes a different near the driverside JCI mounts. I had to keep in mind that there have been LS1/LS2 swaps into 240, 260 and 280s' some with 4L60E (like mines) and others with T56 and there can be some dimension differences, although most swaps were done with the JCI kit and utilizing the JTR headers. The way my schedule is right now (kids football !!!) I have not had time to get in the garage and work on my car, so don't think your behind at all -I am reading your progress until I get back in the garage. Glenn A.
  2. Very Nice. The stance with the CCWs' are perfect.
  3. Dave, I say do it !!!!! As stated Factory Five has very nice Kits, and they have just added a more complete kit that just need Engine/Transmission, Wheels/Tires, paint and fuel pump to complete the car. Building there spec racer challenge series could be profitable as well. The Superformance cars are more complete, but are on the higher end of the spectrum but very nice as well. I am looking at my next project, and I am pretty much sold on the Factory five ( First, I have to finish the Z !!). Create your niche, and the requests will come. By the way, if all goes well my project will be a "bowtie Cobra". Good Luck
  4. aziza z, The engine swap is coming along great. You and EvilC can keep the pictures coming !!!!
  5. Congrats on your first drive. I am not to far behind !!!!!
  6. I have Patriot sidepipes on my Z (Not running yet !!!) take a look in my picture album. I read information and looked at the pictures Cozy Cole and Andrew Bayley provided. Search for "sidepipes", Patriot or Dynomax.
  7. HybridZ is the last place I would expect such things. However, I will not be a hypocrite, there was a post about a particular wheel choice posted, and though the wheels were not my taste, but I respected his wheel choices. Back to the paddle shifters !!! I have that particular magazine copy of the install, and there are some small details left out like how you splice into the TPS or buy a pigtail instead. From the research I have done the PowerTrain Solutions transmission controller may be better and have newer technology, than TCI T-com set-up. I will be purchasing one or the other in about two months, so hopefully by that time I will have all the answers. BTW, I think VINHZXT's car is nice as well, and I respect his knowledge of LS1 swaps.
  8. I am not upset by any comments, at the end of the day I am a Grown Man. I will do with my Z what i want to. Having said that, my reason for paddle shifters 1. I have a six speed Vette. 2. The Ls1 salvage motors with automatics were plentiful 3. I am not a purist, and I have tried the paddle shifters in a buddies LT1 car, and in a new vette. At this point of my swap I am not asking why I should do or try something different, I am going with why not.
  9. This is the web site for Retrotek. They have some other nice stuff. http://www.retrotekspeed.com/products/smart-shift-w-f1-paddles/3-5--6-bolt-paddles.html
  10. Those are in my plan !! The total cost is about $1,200.00. You have to buy a transmission computer as well from TCI, Powertrain Solutions and few other vendors out there. There is another company by the name of Retrotek that makes paddle shifters also, that utilizes mechanical linkage. I am researching if I can use Retroteks paddle shifters with the TCI T-Com transmission controller.By the way Jegs sells the whole set-up.
  11. Try Skulte.com. They make adapters and spacers for high horse f-bodies and do custom sizes for different fitments..
  12. The Z looks great with the sidepipes !!! I had to put sidepipes on my as well. If you ever decide to raise the sidepipes up another 2-4 inches, there is way. The only thing is it involves cutting inside the valance and cutting the front fender, and some welding. I have thank Rusty (GAZRNR) for his instructions, and I took his idea a few steps further.
  13. Congratulations on your first start up !!!! Keep the pictures and videos coming, they are good motivation.
  14. Installed B&M Quick silver, repairing crack dash - I am preparing to install the Autometer Guages, Pushbutton start/toggle switches, Flex a lite Mojave heater/defroster, heat and sound installation. Soon I will start installing the body/electric harness and find a good spot for the engine and transmission Pcm. Next Paddle shifters, rollbar, brakes, rims and tires.

  16. Big Thanks to GAZRNR (Rusty) for the pictures and information on how to install sidepipes on a Z. I had my O2 bungs welded to my flange and midpipes, so I am getting closer. So, I will do the driver side and get the exhaust all together and completed.
  17. The last photo passenger sidepip install.

    side pipe install

Big thanks to GAZRNR for his info on how to install sidepipes on a Z.
  19. Thanks Scott. Good write -up and photos. I have a few things to re-do !!!!!!!
  20. Please shoot a copy my way. gdarma@aol.com Thanks, Glenn A.
  21. EvilC (Clive) Good you decided to keep the Z !!! The car is coming along well. If you get a chance check out the Flex a Lite 640 Mojave heater and plenum. I am not running A/C, but I wanted heat and a least a defroster. I removed the dash to repair it and I decided to yank all the Datsun A/C and heater stuff out, keep things simple. I am going to try the Flex a Lite heater and post the pros/cons.
  22. Here is the latest photo. The cold air intake I put in place just for photo, I am waiting for my JTR brass tee for the steam vent to arrive, then I will tighten the CAI. The grill is generic import diamond mesh grill, that I cut to size and then painted it black. I also used truck door molding around the edge of the grill to frame it. My interior is going to be black and blue, so I painted my dash cap blue. Next on the list is installing the Autometer guages, heat and sound insulation, stick shift and then roll-bar, carpeting etc..............
