I've got bad news, which really really pisses me off. I'm not going to be able to make it to the shindig because its the day after thanksgiving and I have to help decorate the f*cking house. Got a huge guilt trip for wanting to leave, really disappointed I'm not going to be able to meet you guys and have fun talking about Z's and not have to explain what a Z is. Have fun, drink a "drink" for me and let me know how everything goes. Tyson

Anyone ever tried DIY individual throttle bodies?
tfreer85 replied to PUSHER's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
Yeah I saw that, but at $1450 for an upgrade that can only support up to 160hp (unless you upgrade injectors) and not including an ECU or wiring harness seems fairly expensive in comparison to what your are getting. Definately still think they are a very cool product. Tyson -
Would you put these wheels on your Z?
tfreer85 replied to RB26powered74zcar's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Personally I really like them in comparison to the old wheels. IMO and no offense intended, but I think thats been the only thing that I wasn't like holy sh*t when I look at your car. I'm a big fan of a the lip and I think it would really set your car off, not to mention the black coloring would tie into the engine bay color scheme tying the entire car together. Now I'm not necessarily saying these wheels, cause you don't have the big brakes and there isn't a whole lot of metal in the center, which again IMO would create the whole floating car look which is never good. Something in a similar style or like Z Draci's post would really make your car even more WOW. Tyson -

Nothing is wrong with buying two sets, I might try it out. if it goes wrong I'll just install them on my POS Honda. So I've narrowed it down to the 2 sets of motorcycle or converting the Triple carbs for FI. Does anyone have any information on carbs converted to handle FI?? Tyson -

Yeah you have a point, that gets rid of using the set of 4 ITB setup. Any opinion on running 2 TB's with 3 runners? I'm really curious about converting the Triples to FI seems like it would require the least amount modification. Tyson -
http://www.datsunracing.com/gallery/ He has a whole section of just Z's (Datsun/Nissan Events). I think that might have been what he was referring to. Tyson

Okay I know its an old thread but I have some questions about this or another setup. I'm looking into dropping my E31 head on to my FI 78 L28 motor to have some fun with while I gather parts and money for my RB swap. Now with the prices of tripple carbs and TWM ITB's being upwards of 1200 plus, I kinda wanted to mess around with a cheap alternative preferably FI. Now I was looking at the Motocycle 4 Throttle bodies that you can find on ebay for CHEAP and wondered if I would have to run 6 throttle bodies for this to work or if I could run say 2 runners off of the outer throttle bodies. 1 TB x 2 runners 1 TB x 1 runner 1 TB x 1 runner 1 TB x 2 runners in the order. Now another option is get 2 Throttle bodies and run 3 runners from 1 throttle body. 1 TB x 3 Runners 1 TB x 3 Runners However there is the option mentioned above I can get a set of Triple Carbs minus the Intake Manifold for $500 and then convert it to FI. Which option would be easiest, netting the most power? Or should I just buy the Carbs and find a manifold and run them. I just wanted to stay away from the original FI system. I plan on running Mega-Squirt to control everything. Thanks for any help or input. Tyson -

After that is done I will email all of you my PayPal account number with your total cost. I will need an email response of your location and will ship once I recieve reimbursement. Thanks for all the interest. Tyson

I think instead we should have little spot called Grumpyvettes' Corner where everything is Sticky worthwhile. SO MUCH GOOD INFORMATION!!! Tyson

Well the 260Z I was planning on looking at is in Tustin http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/car/104432994.html but since I'm looking to swap I think its too much money to pay for just a body. Not to mention 240Z_Masters mounts only work for a 240Z. Trying to find a good 240 shell or rolling chassis in CA (anyone anyone... ). With that being said I should be able to make it down there around 3:00 to hang out with the other guys if that is the set time, my schedule is very flexible so if we want to meet later thats fine as well. Tyson

Any day except Thursday would work well for me. However just FYI I'm making a 2hr or so trip if I can make it, so staying away from traffic times would be great. Though I could always just go down early and hang out at the mall like all the cool kids... Tyson

I guess a check sent to my home Address would be fine or money order. I don't know for sure yet. However I will not send the patches in this until I recieve reimbursement. I will try and ship them as fast as possible for those trying to use them as Xmas gifts. I'd like to stress again that we don't have a guarantee so far on the patches as the Dealer doesn't know when his shipment arrival date is. Tyson

Okay so this is the most recent email correspondence with the dealer: Tyson still trying to verify quanity of Datsuns to receive and when, sorry for delay in answering I think it will be best I ship to you and receive payment from you the price will be $20.00 shipped for both or large $13.00 and small $6.00, $1.00 shipping or I will charge you a flat rate on the shipping. My big problem is I think on this order I only have about 24 small (FRONT) coming and about 50 large (REAR) 20 of the large are spoke for if I receive what I ordered but what I will do is put another order in take care of any one else who wants them it will take about another 2 weeks to receive a new order I will send another Email when I here status of order thanks, Bob So what this means for the time being is any one seeking patches after the post of blueovalz will have a 2 week waiting period for the Front patches ONLY. We are only at 18 for the Rear patches so their will be no problem with them. Also since he wants to have me pay him directly, then have you guys reimburse me it will probably make the pricing come out to about dollar ($1) more on top of his price for me to ship to you guys your package of patches. FYI about the HybridZ patches, I have still yet to hear back from the embroidery shop and am getting price quotes from another shop. If there is any interest in Jackets please let me know. Tyson
-
The HybridZ Patches aren't a go yet still waiting the here back from the embroidery shop. Tyson
-
If everything goes correctly with the guy that we would be buying from I can either buy the total directly from him then have you guys pay me then have me ship them to you. Or when I make the purchase include everyone's mailing address have him directly ship to you guys and have you guys reimburse me. Or set-up an order password such as HybridZ Buyer for use to get the group discount and have you guys contact him directly. I'm currently waiting for reply from the Dealer about the patches and will relay the information as I get it. Any input of payment is fine process is welcome. Tyson
-
Just for everyones information I'm going to send in the order the Monday after Thanksgiving, which means that if you want patches after that you can either contact the dealer directly or I might have some left over. Tyson
-
That is just a testament to the quality of work that you do John, congrats, that thing is awesome. Tyson

I've got some new toys... (triple mikunis, etc.)
tfreer85 replied to Sleeper-Z's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
I gotta ask where are you getting your parts from? They all look brand new. Can't wait to see some more progress. Tyson -
Out of state isn't a very good option for them, out of state tuition is ridicolous not to mention I like CA. CSU Northridge is looking to be the best option as the have a specific focus on Automotive Engineering no other CSU does, these are just the labs that they have on campus: Automotive Engineering Laboratory Computer Controlled Parts Manufacturing Lab (Haas Lab) Design, Analysis and Simulation Laboratory Environmental Test Chamber Formula SAE Laboratory Formula SAE Racecars Streamliner Machine Design Laboratory Mechatronics Lab Rocket Engine Test Cell Robotics and Controls Engineering Laboratory Thermofluid Systems Laboratory Wind Tunnel Laboratory Also can get a chance to build this More Pics: http://www.ecs.csun.edu/%7Esae/cgi-bin/spboard/board.cgi?id=gallery Organization that builds them: http://www.ecs.csun.edu/sae/ More SAE info: http://students.sae.org/ http://automobile.sae.org/ I had completely forgotten about SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), seems like CSU Northridge will be good college for this Major and I'll minor in Radio-Television-Film Communications (it'll pull in the graphic design interest). Thanks again for all the help. Tyson

Vinny just FYI you inbox is full, can't send you PM's right now. I'm interested in making the trip. Tyson

Well I really got to say thank you to all for the help, seems like overwhelming advice to stick it out and get my 4 year. Military however is not an option I've had a complete knee reconstruction with about 6 ounces of titanium in it, have to carry a doctors note to fly. I don't drink very often at all, vary rarely as I'm only 20 so I can't legally get into bars I was explaining the lack of excitement in this town. In HS I was a rebel yes, I bucked the system with every chance I got, though i graduated in the top 100 of my class of 500 in Honors Programs. I've thought about it some more I slept or layed in bed last night and I think the best solution for me right now is to get out of the house and out of this city. I'm the kid that a lot of people hate because I have never paid for anything of my own, I've never had a job and am 20yrs old (there lies another problem with deciding on my future). jmortenson I think you make a good point with the "the cobbler's children have no shoes" statement I've heard that coming from a group of people as well. I'm looking into other CSU's in the LA area possibly Long Beach State and will try and transfer there after this upcoming 21 unit quarter. I understand the how the whole having a degree helps thats why its such a problem for me and I've come from an upper middle class family (not bragging) so I'm accustomed to a different life style and that factors in as well. Would I be willing to take a cut in living style to pursue a career in automotive? I don't mean to be snobbish but I don't think I would be willind to do so. I also have seen the manual labor issue with my own father he worked and still works occasionally in concrete construction field even though he owns the company. He taught me a lesson about working construction manual labor when I was having trouble in HS. Made me put out just enough effort to graduate. I know grades aren't the most important thing when it comes to getting a degree, it doesn't say your grade point average. My grades aren't do to a lack of intelligence, its do to a lack of effort and lack of interest in the gen ed bullshit. Which of course doesn't help with the parent situation of them thinking I'm responsible. (another reason to get a job to proove to them that I am). It also doesn't help that I'm the youngest and my entire family would suffer empty nest syndrome as we all live in close proximity and are close nit. I don't want to burn a bridge between them and as you guys have already stated they are for life. I'd take my brothers over any friends any day we're just that close. So this is what my current solution is going to be: After finals I'm getting a job full-time pitch in as much money as possilbe to repay my parents for my upcoming quarter if I have time I will work part time during the quarter. Take the Spring quarter off move to the LA area working full time in the industry allow me to fully take on what's happening in the shop. Fill out my applications for some of the CSU's in the area and attend in the Fall quarter. And get my BS or BA in some field preferrably something dealing with automotive directly or indirectly. I could easily be a graphic designs major, tried it one quarter, but didn't know if I wanted to sit in front of a computer all day. I might shift back towards it as a minor as there is a lot of freedom involved with the field and good money. I'd be curious if any one has input on degrees that could keep me close to cars, but not be doing the manual labor all the time. Reality is I'm not going to be the next Chip Foose even if I were to go to Wyotech or the like, so I'm better off sticking with my getting a degree, untangling my panties, and take resposibility for this last quarter and move on. Again thanks you guys have no idea how much this has helped, I just gotta start searching for shops, schools, and places to live in the greater Los Angeles area. Thanks, Tyson (the guy in search)

Its not that I'm ashamed of Bs and Cs its just not acceptable in my household, causing a lot of turmoil and aggravation. Which since I have been in the same household for 20yrs it means I have payed for nothing that is mine and have nothing to claim for my own. Allowing a dangling effect by my paretnts to control aspects of my life. I've already have could-a should-a when I didn't apply to any colleges except the local JC because I didn't have the money for the applications and the parents didn't help out either leaving after fulling supporting both the bro's through their grad schools, with fully having the capability to support me, but did not. I don't know its aggravating as hell because I constantly feel like my choices aren't the right choices. I just want to finally make the right choice for me and this is critical decision that will affect the rest of my life. Tyson
