Do I need flares?
tfreer85 replied to mario_82_ZXT's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
BOO to selling them, just do a super flare or flares. C'mon just do the body mods. They do look good though, best luck with whichever you decide. Tyson -
Okay guys heres an update, the guy just let me know they have recieved both patches and are ready for purchase. However there is a catchup, I'm buying another Z which means I don't have the close to $500 to put up front to buy the patches then send to you guys. If someone is willing to take over from here we can get it done. Sorry for the inconvenience but this is just an extremely good deal that I can't afford to pass up on. I can forward all of my information that I've gathered and let the Dealer know whats going on. You aren't too late to order however there will a longer waiting period. Sorry once again, hope we can still get something figured out. Tyson

Right I was saying convert the Carbs to where they are the FI system. If you wanted an ITB type/style setup. Tyson
-
As another option, not saying its best solution but you could gut your triples and convert them to EFI, I've been talking with technicalninja about it, but have since decided to stay away. I think everything depends on whether you want to go NA or Turbo and go from there. Then again, I could make a short drive over to your place and pick up the turbo motor if you want.... Tyson

Man if ZX's actually looked like that I would be like S30's wtf are those. That is sexy, I'm still looking forward to the S30 widebody sketches. But man that thing is mean looking I'd be intmidated no matter what engine it had in it. Tyson

Okay so this is my gathering of whats going on, could be completely off. The architect girl is the 911's wife or sister. The owner of the 911 is brothers or really good friends with the owner of the wrecked Z. The original owner of the Z is the brother of the architect girl. I'm assuming the brother (original z owner) died in the Z, tramatizing the architect girl. After that I'm confused about the ending. Tyson

Yeah I'm getting the same problem downloaded twice. I'm a Mac user, so I'm kinda in a pickle for the sound. Any suggestions, DivX doesn't read it right other, I guess I'll try other players. SCRATCH THAT VLC WORKS!!!!!!!!! Tyson

Post a pic of your ride or nice Hybrids
tfreer85 replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Well Heres my daily driver: its not really a hybrid nor a Z. And heres the best pic of my Z, pitiful isn't it? Don't worry I'm working on it Sorry for the mondo pics, and no that is not my Honda so don't fret. The Tahoe is. Tyson -
I've always been curious how it is that they run 18-25 psi with out detonating with these setups? Are the using race gas, or what? It just seems that it would be hard to do with street gas, yet alone not being intercooled. I'm not doubting the efficency of the Turbo Tom cause I've heard a lot of good about it. Tyson

Motor rebuld/refresh/inspeciton advice (Long)
tfreer85 replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Okay for the Cam, Yes it is absolutely necessary to replace the Lifter. If you have ever pulled out a lifter (Flat tappet style) and looked for at it, it is usually tapered and has a specific cut/finish/grind on it to match the grind on the camshaft. As the cam shaft moves the lifter it also spins the lifter at the same time. Where when you re-use a lifter it opens itself up to not spining causing improper wear characteristics on you camshaft. From my experience of buying 350 parts for my trucks, when you buy a camshaft they include the lifters. The O-rings are called just that IIRC, O-rings. For the head seal and most other parts I would use http://shop.enginekits.com/osb/specials.cfm Call Them they are local to me and have done business with them several times. Very knowledgeable and helpful and can customize a rebuild kit just for you. What I would do is even though everything is immaculate, since you seem to have most of the engine dis-assembled is buy a Master rebuild kit including: cast pistons, your cam, gaskets, rings, seals, Clevite bearings, oil seals, freeze plugs ( http://shop.enginekits.com/osb/itemdetails.cfm?ID=65 ). You'll pay just a little to have your cam bearings installed correctly and your Pistons and rods press-fitted. So that should put you close to $200 including the Master rebuild Kit. Now throw in a Harmonic balancer since this isn't a high performance a stock balancer would do fine. You can buy from a JY, but its one of thos parts that if cracked, or the rubber filling is missing in places can come apart and destroy your entired motor. It can also rob you of HP by insuffeciently dampening the crankshaft causing vibrations through the block. A harmonic balancer should run aroun $50 in stock form. Throw in a water pump that which you might as well, $30 or so dollars. If your crank is in great condition you'll be fine, if not add another $50 for a reground crank at 10 under. That would be a simple rebuild that would ensure that it runs for a lot more miles. Rebuild Kit: $155 Minor Machine Work: ~$50 Harmonic Dampner: ~$50 Water Pump: ~30 Reground Crank (Optional): $50 TOTAL: $335 Seems relatively simple and inexpensive. Ensures quality rebuild parts and a longer lasting engine. Again enginekits.com can remove the pistons if you don't want to change them, and get new rings. Also to answer another question of yours about pistons rings going bad by sitting. This is a scenario not necessarily the right answer, but rings are like a spring, they exert pressure against the cylinder wall to create a seal. When you compress a spring either to far or for a long period of time, when you release the pressure a spring often will not return to its full height, or as "springy" so I can see pistons rings having the same affect. Hope this helped, hope I answered some of your questions. This is just from my experience and my understanding from reading "Sunnen's Complete Cylinder Head and Engine Rebuilding Handbook" by the Sunnen Corporation and "Automotive Engines" by Tim Gilles. Well the Dickies Jacket that I've found that is identical to the one Lunar is sporting runs right around $35. Add $20 for both patches you're looking at $55. If you want to install the patches yourself then you would just need to pay for shipping. If you would want me to install the patches, well it would be a little bit more. Also, I'm still waiting on hearing back from the dealer this guys is taking forever, sorry. Tyson

No its not a whole lot of power put its is proven to go well over 200mph, which is good if you can afford it or are insane. Tyson
-
I'd be curious not that I can afford it, but what would it cost for people to do this? And how many cars do you think you could actually get in a container? The skyline is clean, man I love nissans. Another question how do the old skylines compare weight wise to the Z's? Like if you had a Skyline and a 240 with the exact same L powered engine who would win? Tyson
-
Steve I don't know who you are buying your or looking at your parts, but what I've found in my searching around town Bako, is that you can find a better deal elsewhere, either online, or through catalog. Even including the price of shipping. Tyson

Yeah he's a member here. I don't see a problem with it, I know to many cars that could use that sticker on it. Tyson

For those who were wondering where I've been...
tfreer85 replied to Mikelly's topic in Non Tech Board
Ahh Motorola, I don't like them. Definitely one of my least favorite brands for electronic gear Cell Phones included!! Did you upgrade or change to something else? Or is motorola the only option you have with your provider? Tyson -

tfreer85 replied to Mikelly's topic in Non Tech Board
Ahh man we were just about to have some fun and celebrate your un-announced departure... JK. Well glad you got your crazy modem figured out, catch up, and fill in the gaps of this is a Mikelly response. Is it a router or a modem? Are you on high speed and what brand was the one that screwed up? Tyson -
Okay so what all is included in this kit or adapter setup? Are we going to have to do the hybrid clutch using the Turbo Flywheel? What other parts are going to be necessary for us to run them? What else are we going to have to source out? Custom Driveshafts, tranny mount, etc.? Tyson

Thanks I now have some new background pics. That thing is nice and LOW, not to mention that big *** IC in front looks mean. On a couple of angles it reminds me of the Wangan Midnight car . Tyson
