  1. Ditto (I agree), if you've never really looked into the mid-to-high powered L28ET's out there then don't make blanket statements that they are not reliable or as reliable. There are several members in the 315-345rwhp that use their cars as daily drivers. I think Tim Z is putting down 500rwph and is going to be using his as a daily. You're looking at 2 completely different engines with two completely different combustion characteristics, head design, etc. The reliability of any engine relies on the parts and dollar. Its like SuperDan has said in his signature: You can choose any two: 1) Cheap 2) Reliable 3) Fast Tyson
  2. Anyone have any opinions or tips? Tyson
  3. Na, I wish, I begged and pleaded, but it wasn't Mikes it was LS1240Z's and he wasn't done with it and Mike didn't want to speak for it. Tyson
  4. Okay, so I'm mapping out my plan for my build and from what I've read these are the steps to take when building from a bare shell: 1) Getting Organized 2) Doing all body-work, undercoating, then body paint first 3) Install Drivetrain 4) Suspension, wheels, tires 5) Interior Now, I'm sitting on my engine choice, the body color will subaru blue, with a flat/satin black engine bay paint. Me and my father are arguing about steps 2 and 3, he thinks I should install the motor first before I do my paint so as to not scratch the paint. The motor choices that I'm looking at do NOT require engine bay modification, so the mock up step for fitment/modification IMO isn't necessary. Do you guys feel that these are the right steps to take? I figure a lot of you have rebuilding experiences so please explain what steps you took, what you would change, and how you thought it worked out for you. Thanks, Tyson
  5. Haha sorry, I just asked if I could take all his parts off of him and he said yeah, so off we went with a truck load, and trailer full datsun parts. Thanks pjo046, one thing that was nice is that there isn't/wasn't any place unseen for there to be rust hiding. Mas28O even had it up on a rotiserrie, turned it over for me to see the underbelly and all. Tyson
  6. Thanks, I hope it looks as good in person as it looks in my head . One thing that is great about this car is it has taken out a lot of the guess work for certain parts that I know very little about. Which is good for saving a couple of headaches. Tyson
  7. I just busted up laughing, I still love that vid. "that datsun is going to have some hurt feelings" That was great. Good vids 73Turbo240Z, these vids always through me for a hook when I look at engine choices. I love seeing f-body's loose, something about most their cockiness. Tyson
  8. So I see some people have animated avatars, when I tried to load a *.gif file for one I was told that I was not allowed to do so. Is there a reason? Do I need to change the type of file format for it to work as an allowable animated avatar? Thanks, Tyson
  9. You most likely won't be able too seeing as you are a new member, in which you have I think a 30 day or number post probation period. It just helps keep people out that are only trying to sell parts instead of actually adding tech content to the site. Hope that helps, I'm sure SuperDan will chime in here soon. Tyson
  10. Those are some gorgeous looking wheels, however I have a question for you or whomever. With Coilovers, would you change anything about the order? I see you mentioned that you would have gone with 4.75" backspacing, what would this provide more Lip? I've just ordered my ZG flares, I like these wheels and want the most lip as possible. Thanks, I'm reading through the sticky info as we type. Tyson
  11. Sorry for the Large Sized Pics. The primer was just quickly shot on there when it sat outside for one day its all been/going to be removed and cleaned up. The motor I've narrowed down to KA24DE-T or an LS1 and yes I know they are two different ball games. So I'm sitting on the engine choice for a while. Tyson
  12. Okay, so I've been searching for a Z since the age of 15 (now 20), I've let more than a number of great deals slip out from under me for whatever odd ball reason. However I must say the 5 year wait, anger of lost oppurtunities, butting head with my parents, has finally paid off. This is now my current 1972 240z. Which I paid a very happy 4k for. You'll notice I don't have very many body shots, because it is in the body shop getting painted just a shade subaru blue with gloss black ZG Flairs, Air dam, and the wheels will be gloss black as well with a chrome lip. Okay so onto the parts list and pics. 13. Pretty Solid stuff True School, pretty long songs which is pretty hard to do with Hip-hop style music. Have you ever heard of Deltron 3030 or Atmosphere? I have atmosphere on my myspace account right now. I liked your stuff as well gollum, its cool how diverse Hybrid Z really is. Tyson
  14. http://www.myspace.com/the_mr_sarcastic I have Alex's SR240Z as a background... I gotta show off what a good looking Datsun looks like cause most people don't know. Tyson
  15. Thank you Mike for weighing in, I was glad you did because as i read through the older posts, its seems like you were able to offer an experienced opinion on these transmissions. Trust me they mean a lot, and the 25# is not as much weight drop as I had wanted/thought it to be, kinda of a misnomer when comparing stock T56 to a stock T5, with the comment the "T5 is much lighter" I had read a lot in older posts. One quick question before I have to run, I know its not very well suited for a street car, and are really hard on your arm, but what about like a Richmond T10 4spd, or a Muncie 4spd? Also what about the possibity of buying a one of either the Ford Racing 5spd or the Ford Cobra Racing 5spd (claimed 500ft/lbs TQ handling)? Thanks, Tyson
  16. I know this is an old thread but was curious if anyone has any updates on adapting a T5 to an LS1. I've seen that some (mikelly?) have had experience with McLeod and Lakewood, both companies that make adapters. http://www.mcleodind.com/catalog_htm/PAGE6.HTM and http://store.wpsracing.com/lablbe.html Now (unless I'm mistaken I have an R230 diff) out of a Saginaw, Muncie, T10, T50, G-Force, Jerico, Liberty, which would be the most cost effective transmission swap for dropping the most weight on mostly street car (not really), putting down close to 360 RWHP. I'm still doing some searching but wanted some more opinions on this as I continue to look. I'm trying to get the car as light as possible, on my 72 with frame connectors, 10 sec roll-bar, mostly full interior, true CF hood, and FG hatch, eventually a PDK dash.
  17. Ulises all I can say is thanks!!! Why?!?!? Because I just saw your car about 4hrs ago at Mikes (mas28O) as I very happily took his project off of his hands. If it weren't for you gorgeous looking car being there to convince my dad what a completed, restored, good-looking Z, really looks like, I wouldn't have gotten Mikes car. Not to mention that beautiful LS motor might have convinced him to allow me to put one in. Thanks, again to both you and mike, gorgeous car, it looks even more better (bad grammar) in person. Tyson
  18. http://bb.bbboy.net/vwengineconversions-viewthread?forum=8&thread=3 I like it a lot, though in another color would be even cooler, but I still think it'd be somewhat of a sleeper on the street . Tyson
  19. Man I say you take your car and burn it, how many more problems can you have. I've really liked the VG30DETT transmission adapted, seems like its fairly reasonable price for what you're getting. Not to mention if (heaven forbid) you break a VG30DETT with the L28ET you know that there is another transmission readily available. Best of luck, Tyson
  20. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad you got it done after all the little problems you kept running into. Can't wait to see it and for you to get it done/tuned/interior/etc. Tyson
  21. HOT DAMN!!!!!!! I was looking at those the other day, was curious how they would look colored, but in black. Looking really good, can't wait to see them mounted. Tyson
  22. Anybody else see the Lexapro sticker on the intake pipe???? I still like seing that car. Tyson
