  1. This little setup should be good for upto 650-700hp on my RB30DET.
  2. I did get a particually good deal on my two! But they do come up all the time at 2 - 3 times that amount on our local trading site (like ebay) I could get the weight of a short block and check on cost of freight to the US, if you guys are serious? I would give you a price all up including freight, you could then palpay that to me and once recieved i would arrange shipment. How does this sound?
  3. I'm in NZ and i paid $115 and $150 each for the two i have brought in the last 3 months, thought i would start collecting them while they are still plentiful and cheap!
  4. OMG! djz, just noticed you're in NZ as well, hell this thread has a real kiwi flavour. Good to see you all here.
  5. G'day George! Another Kiwi eh, do you have a Z or is it just the skyline? There is not that many of us on here, so good to see another one
  6. Hey Rob & Tony I am really keen to see how you both get on with this, I will be looking into how i will do this conv to my car very shortly, I wil be picking up the complete rear end from the R32 GTR very soon, then play time Keep us posted guys. Rob, hows your rear cradel coming along?
  7. I too have been wanting to machine out the guts of the Z hub and attempt to fit the Z32 or R32 GTR skyline bolt in rear hubs, then run the out Stubbed outer Cv from the same vehicle.
  8. I really dont think it has much to do with actual performance, but more so to do with space avalibilty (especially for large turbos) and just plain old looks, people like showing off their big flash shiny new turbos.
  9. I am sorry but I totally disagree with the "but the final arbiter is good luck!" statement and the "Now if only real estate around here would EVER appreciate (it’s lagged the rate of inflation for decades, and the so-called “national†housing boom of recent years has completely bypassed this area)!" There is nothing stopping you buying real estate in other areas outside of where you live! Why limit your potential gain/return by only buying close to your home! I spend alot of time on my property investing and work hard at it, and it is hard, its not easy and it really piss's me off when people say to me "oh but you're just lucky" and "oh but we dont have much capital growth where we live" and the like. Sorry for jacking the garage thread here guys, but this just struck a nerve on a topic that i am very passionate about. And Michael, i'm not trying to be a pri_k here or anything, but re-read my second paragraph. Let the garage thread continue
  10. See my signature below, i am currently doing this conversion, I am very busy at work at the moment. But when i get a chance over the next couple of days i will put together a reply to as many of these questions as i can. As others have already said this hybrid engine is a very popular conv in NZ and Aust in the Skyline scene and there has been much written about it on many different forums. skylinesdownunder, skylinesaustralia, vlturbo etc etc, do a google search in the meantime and see what you come up with. The RB30 bottem end is very strong and the standard internals are good for up to about 600HP, thats all i'm going to use for up to that power level. Clint T
  11. I'm with you all on this one as well, I revolt agaisnt conforming to all this BS as well!!!
  12. I think that my Coil over springs are the 10" varity, Wow 1mm clearance doesnt alloy for much tire flex??? Have you seen how much a tire distorts sideways under hard cornering??
  13. How the hell do you get the 5.75" BS to clear on the rear? I currently have 5" BS and am looking at fitting wider wheels, and there dosnt appear to be enough room for 5.75" BS, I do run coil overs. You guys must have modified brakes or something pushing out the mounting flange??
  14. Hi Rob, If i were you i would not learn to weld on this part of the car, your rear frame actually does quite alot, needs to be strong, and as someone else mentioned, you may get a mig weld "looking" good but it may only be sitting on the top of the material and have no penatration at all, and it can just fall off! You have gone to alot of trouble so far with all that trick design work, the machining of the half round bush blocks etc etc, dont ruin it all now with some crappy welding mate. Get it welded by a professional. Spend some time learning/practicing to weld on a bunch of other rubbish parts etc, so that you can do it all yourself eventually. But dont comprimise your nice rear cradel. Clint T
  15. Hey Mike, what are the sizes of those tires you are running, both front and rear, and width of front wheels? I want to run about 9" and 10" on my car, may have to go 9" all round tho as look at my car in sign pic, its heaps lower than most. What do you think? BTW your car is looking great! Cheers dude,
  16. You see a lot of the skyline guys out here (NZ) running modified/custom covers with holes etc, or no cover at all, and they talk about the trapped heat killing the coils. Many end up going away from the direct coil system.
