  2. haven't done much to the car, but I figured it was time to give a bit of an update. I took the car out for a drive before it got painted and there was an issue once I started going up and down hills. My Initial thought was that my float was off and that I needed to set it; then I was told that i was shooting a stream of gasoline out of the rear of my car. since it has been on jacks and level there hasnt bit a drop of gas leak out of it, but today when I finally checked the damage this is what i found. note: the size of the hole did not change after i took it off of the tank. seeing this, and the lack of wanting to buy an unneeded line, I decided to plug the hole and just remove my evaporator tank. It was a PITA due to me not wanting to drop the fuel tank, but all in all I made all the lines work and fit. After I took care of the Evap removal I set my floats (23mm from top to float upside-down, please tell me if i am mistaken) on my 4 screws, and boy were both of them well off... After the floats were set, I really wanted to paint my wheel wells. Here are the befores... The most common color that I have seen used is either body color, or some form of black... I found a can. and this is what followed. because after all there is no better color that matches ultra-flat deep forest green and satin black like metallic gold... yeah... and then my ebay headlights came in; some shitty bulbs in a glass front housing all for $20 shipped to my door! and as much I hate seeing yellow glass on the road... I really think they would look smashing with my color scheme; for now though, I will stick with these. I get my MM 240sx caliper brackets in on the 2nd of march, and i'll post some updates shortly after that!
  3. not my rear end, that'll be coming soon, but i had to add this to the mix via speedhunters
  4. once i get all of the material to the house i'll post some photos up and add them to the rear brake FAQ so that way people can see what it looks like. I also got back from MM about the extra shipping cost, and they would lower it after i made the purchase and refund the money; still though you save $30 and dont have an extra set of SS lines that you have to dispose of.
  5. fieros have torque for days though. think of it as the MR2's american second cousin...
  6. there was a pretty good one in the oceanside ecology on a 260z. it is just dangling by the wires right now.
  7. 2 things i love about this spoiler: it is called victory, and there is a warning label attached to it.
  8. flickr has a couple, but you have to dig through all of the 240z tags.
  9. +1 to the IP layout, it looks astounding.
  10. alrighty so i think i figured it out. since i already have the banjo bolts on the caliper these are the parts that you need to buy for your stock brake line to work, and subsequently the SS kit that MSA sells. you will need to buy --pair of banjo fittings; fitting size 1: -3an fitting size 2: 10mm banjo link http://www.summitrac...rts/RUS-640471/ --pair of male to male fittings fitting size 1: -3an fitting size 2: 10mm x 1.0 INVERTED FLARE link http://www.summitrac...rts/FRA-650307/ --pair of female to female couplers fitting size 1: -3an fitting size 2: -3an link http://www.summitrac.../EAR-915103ERL/ total cost being $37.18 to recap -option 1 (4) MSA SS lines - $80 (2) MM SS lines - $75 total cost $155 -Pro, you have ss lines that bolt right up -Cons, you have to throw away/sell the rears that you get from MSA also since you cant actually buy the SS lines by themselves shipping will cost you an extra $30; being that you have to use buy a kit and remove what you dont need so total cost is now $185 option 2 (4) MSA SS lines - $80 couplers and fittings - $40 total cost $120 -Pro, dont have to throw anything away, and less expensive -cons, semi-jerry rigged look. As always it is up to the buyer, but saving an extra $35-$65 is quite a bit, after all that is pretty much the cost of new pads (Porterfield R4-S = $60)
  11. from the looks of that set-up is is a 10mm banjo ss hose with a 3an end, and then a 3an to 10mm adapter. Granted it is $15 cheaper than MM, but still i already have ss lines i just need an adapter...
  12. alright with the new search software i was able to find some info on what i needed, but this arouse another question... Right now i have the MSA SS lines all around; obviously this will not work with the 240sx rear caliper, but i figure that i could just get a 10mm banjo adapter to the male threaded end then I would not have to buy the expensive pair of SS lines. I have e-mailed MSA asking them what the thread pitch is, but if anyone knows off hand that would be great. the brake would be set up as such... caliper > banjo adapter > MSA SS lines > hard lines.

    Search

wow, the upgraded search is significantly better. Wow. I can finally get results of things that i am looking for!
  14. satin is what you are looking for, there are a few threads around that talk about it, mostly dealing with satin black.
  15. As far as I can tell the only way for me to get some SS lines from the 240sx rear brake caliper to my stock (73 240z) hard lines is by purchasing a $75 pair from MM. Is there another option? It seems kinda insane to think that the full 240z SS kit from thezstore is pretty much the same price; and that is for 4 lines, not just 2. i know that there is a rubber option to be found at rock auto, but as the title says i am looking for an SS option.
  16. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/1607179406.html CLASSIC CAR-- Early 240Z shipped from Okinawa, Japan in 1969. Maybe the 10,000 Z manufactured. Ran great until outside storage. Needs some work, sold as is, buyer to remove. --asked for photos
  17. what is weird to me is that on some posts i can quick reply, now called fast reply, but on others i cant... hmmm
  18. the overall look is definitely cleaner, but i must say that i miss quick reply and mark all forums as read.
  19. hmmmm very interesting... $400 for emusa vs $800 megan on ebay. double the price for a name and some adjustablity; but with the smaller overall length doesnt the emusa length essentially give you more room to lower your car?
  20. finished the painting a couple days ago here are the shots of finishing the sides here is the final body paint after sanding it down. there are a few streaks here and there, and the magical blue 3M tape took off some paint in a few areas, but all in all it turned out quite well for $70 worth of paint and sand paper. The colors that i used were satin black for the front cowl, rear hatch, zg flares, bre lip, and rear metal shroud thing; and then i used ultra-flat deep forest green for the sides and rear of the car (according to the can i should "blend into the environment"). also finished painting my BRE front lip, ZG flares, and rear licence plate shroud thing. -- have to sand down the spray on the steel lip of the brake lights. all that is left to paint is putting my octopus tag on the cowl, lower the car to a proper height, and then mount all the parts.
  21. +1 to diamond racing; while a bit heavier than the xxr, they were 500 shipped to my door and in the size/backspace that i wanted. when i said run less tyre i meant just that, less tyre. I have 15x10s all around with 225.50-15 tyres; give your tyres some stretch if you are that concerned about unsprung weight. the issue is that since you are indeed running less tyre you will have less potential grip than if you didnt.
  22. best way would be to buy lighter wheels. or buy less tyre. and for fitment; on a 8" wheel, 0 offset is equivalent to 4.5" of backspacing, which will fit.
  23. I ordered some diamond racing 15x10 -25mm (4.5" bs) and test fit them on my car. The 225.50-15 Kuhmo ASTs came in a few days after I took these photos, but you can get an idea of how they may look. After the mock up I started a prep for paint. Today I cut the fenders for the proper installation of zg flares. Final paint as well as the only real recorded (that I can find, and i have been through all of Google photos, and 100 Flickr pages) photo of a 240z with ZG flares and a BRE front lip.
