  1. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=18079&size=big&cat=500 I was digging around my photo albums and found this oldie. This is my senior year of high school in KY 1980 with my 1972 240. Boy where has the time gone. Tom

    1972 240Z

My senior year in HS 1980 and my 1972 240Z
  3. Check out my sig or photo album. Its gold/black stripes. So I think the stripes look good as long as they are wide enough. Mine are 8" with 1/4" pin stripe. Tom
  4. Coming from someone who usually just settles for what I get, I can tell you it would be worth calling the company you got it from to work out an exchange. Even if you have to pay for shipping to return it you will be happier with the part you really want. Too bad it only took me 20 years to realize to ask for what I want. Doing things the right way sure does feel a lot better in the end. Tom
  5. It seems that everytime I see a car from overseas they are always running triples. Yet so many people here tend to keep the SUs on or some other variant of fuel intake. I wonder if it is because their tuners are not afraid to spend time tuning them while most US shops want to run and hide if they see them. Unless they are a specialty tuning shop then they want $150.00 just to start your car and listen.
  6. Clive, I think you should really let me keep your car for the winter. It is still sunny and 70 degrees here. I could even take the car back out to the track and keep it race ready for you. If you had your reverse lights hooked up you could have backed up easier. I could come up and confiscate it for that reason. Wait.... I am not a NYPD cop on a power struggle. Or is that just on TV. Tom, The Sunshine Cop.....
  7. Makes me feel bad that I do not want to take on the 1977 280 I picked up. Far less rust and body work that needs to be done than yours. As long as I can just keep it out of sight in the barn I will probably be able to keep it around and start on it some day. Great job and good luck. Tom
  8. 10-12" snow. WOW... I am still having to cut the grass and clean the pool. All while wearing shorts and a tee shirt. Forgot what a real Winter was like years ago. Sorry, Tom
  9. We just pulled the motor out of my friends racecar so I thought I would take a picture of his lightened flywheel. Just shows what a quality machinist can do for you. Tom
  10. Well now that I tossed all night trying to think why my fab went so easy I realized all I did was basically cut my radiator size in half by taking my bottom piece straight across. Obviously, I need to go in about 4" then angle down about 45 degrees to the bottom of my radiator so I utilize the entire radiator for cooling. That is why it is always good to do a mock up with junk laying around the shop before using the good stuff. Tom
  11. I have been watching to see what others are doing. It seems just as many are blocking off lower portion as compared to upper. Is it just owners choice? Or does one work better that other? I played with closing off bottom half. Just seemed to work better.
  12. After talking with Paul(Braap) and some others I am thinking I might have gone a little light on my cam choice for a dedicated track car. Thru friends I have several more aggressive cams I could could get my hands on. My question is that suppliers always suggest/demand you use new rockers lashpads etc any time you change cams. If you are just going to change the cam to test engine response, both seat of the pants and dyno pull, can you get away with not changing all the other parts? A hundred bucks for each cam would get costly if you are just short running them. Any HORROR stories from not changing them. Tom
  13. With background scenery like in your picture I believe you could be inspired to do just about anything. That is beautiful country. I need to get around and see other things than just sunny Florida all the time. Good luck with your Z project and I guess get ready for a long winter. Tom
  14. I bought an intake from him and when it never made it to me he was very quick to refund my money no questions asked. That says alot about a person. Just wish I had the dedication to part out my 280 that way. More money. But looks like I will just sell it whole and break even. Tom
  15. Can't really tell because if they did they changed quite a bit. Maybe an Audi. But it sure does resemble an Aston Martin Vanquish/DB9. Very nice car....
  16. deja, I went to look at some of those punches on ebay. Some were described as guitar amp or electric punches. Looked the same as all the others. Are they? Tom
  17. To me they do not seem too bad. I would just cut out the couple of bad spots and weld in some small patches. Then use something like POR 15 to cover everything.
  18. Wow that yellow #32 has some serious tires on the rear and front also.
  19. I would go with trailer and a little less cash than what he wants. Just in case it is a good deal for you that way you won't have to make the drive twice. Plus if he sees you show up like a real buyer the price usually goes down. Just check everything that you have read about before on this and other sites. Tom
  20. Not an engine builder but looks like you have the same problem with both heads. If you look at the #2 & #4 valves they are whiter compared to all the others. Not sure if that is a water problem or mixture problem. Tom
  21. I have done that quite often and they get surprised when I spend more time checking out their car instead of reading them the riot act about their driving skills. But what they don't know is that I have already checked out their complete driving record and know they are usually pretty good on the roads. Now those that have 2 or more pages of past tickets get surprised when they say they are usually a good driver and must not have paying attention. I show them their records and tell them to get some ginko biloba or whatever that stuff is because their memory is going. Priceless to see their jaw drop when they get got in a big fat lie.... The small things make us happy...
  22. Are those full rear quarter replacements or did you just tape a straight line in front of the tire before you primered. Looks good either way. Tom
