  1. Just amazing what one can do when one puts their mind and resources toward a goal!! Those quarters are really looking great all filled in. I was wondering how they were going to look since the metal was a tad rough in places, but man, you proved it can totally rock. I hope the painted car will look as good as I think it will. Nice work! Does the liquid aluminum attract water (hydrophilic) like typical fillers do? Just curious. I know most poly fillers need some kind of primer to cover them otherwise they can start rusting between the metal and the filler (at least I think I'm correct there). Davy
  2. There was a company that was swapping L20B motors into the 240Z back in the late 80's. The other L series Datsun engines should bolt in with few modifications. Yes, it will be slow... Davy
  3. Sage advice from someone who knows what they're talking about. Davy
  4. Ewww, one small oversight on my part. I did not see that. Davy
  5. I second that! Can't wait for the movie!!! Davy
  6. Schweeet! Nice job on the mirror polishing; I have some Edelbrocks I should do that to. I fear about the porting job already done on them by someone else since I have no idea what it did to the flow. The intake looks great after the media blasting, but will you seal the pores with paint or clear coat? Davy
  7. Thanks for the great info, Mike!! Davy
  8. That's about what I paid for a new (installed only once!) Fighter (?) wheel and adapter. I did a ravenous search on ebay before making a commitment on the one I bought. I swear, ebay had the next best deal and all the adapters and quick release hubs one could want! Just look for some deals... Davy
  9. Wow, battery helps offset driver's weight by being on pass side in back---I really like this idea. I have not seen a battery mounted so far in back before, although I have seen them sunk down behind the tool boxes into the floor... Great pictures and great info---thanks! Davy
  10. Dale, what offset are the wheels? I think you'll be ok with adapters or spacers if those are the typical FWD offset. Ross sells those too, no? NICE equipment you got there--post us some pics when you have everything installed Davy
  11. Good to see you posting again, Grumpy!! Thanks much for the link!! I can see Pete or Terry fabbing one of those just for the 'fun' of it... Davy
  12. Agreed. (mental lapse on my part) Davy
  13. Sigur, not to burst your bubble or anything, but since you are pressed for time, your best bet is to get a 280Z or 280ZX motor and just do an easy drop in that will run for a while. Should be the cheapest way to go too. The worst thing is to find out that the V8 conversion will cost more then you estimated or take longer then you anticipated. You'll have to deal with a nonrunning car, or no money, etc. or a combo of a lot of things. This is the kind of thing you do not want to rush. If you had all the parts now for a V8 conversion, had solid quotes from competent professionals, and it was within the timeframe you set for it, you're fine. Otherwise, you're going to be screwed. You are actually better off putting a 280Z longblock in the car, selling it, and then buying an already converted V8Z. That might sound painful, but that is reality! I'm not saying this to discourage you, but just to give you a healthy bit of reality and history of what we have seen time and time again. Don't lose the car over your desire to do a conversion--beware!! Davy
  14. This will make for some extremely interesting discussion. I'm very much looking forward to having him on the forum as I'm sure there are many members who would love to as well. If he can't make it due to his schedule, see if you can get a good explanation of what he did and why and post it here in the thread. Many thanks. Davy
  15. He had his faults, but he did what he could to overcome and succeed. He paid for his 'mistakes' and ended up with a pretty miserable outcome of losing his venture, going through 3 wives, and finally in bankrupcy. Still, his faith brought him through in the end so he was not in depression and was even looking forward to doing "a performance car for under $20,000." Wow. Davy
  16. I think the Vortec that he plans to run is a 'truck' engine, so to speak, certainly newer then his '95, and the LT1 cam will only be known by the sniffer test, which it will pass without any problems. I don't think there will be an issue with this setup. Davy
  17. Great! I only wonder if they have 240Z frame rails too? Doesn't look like it, so I'm emailing him. Davy
  18. It was a FAKE?!? Man, I wonder where my $50 went off to then... Davy Get's better and better, no?
  19. I love that pathetic show! Anyway, one of the Mythbuster people drive a white 280Z. Not too famous, but what the heck. Shoot, now that I think about it, Darius is probably more famous (infamous?) then Mythbusters... Davy
  20. That's pretty darn good too! I laughed at the squirrel launcher and this bunny site. Man, I needed that!! Davy
  21. You can also buy the EFI manual from JTR and go efi ---it'd save you money in the long run and be more streetable. Just my $.02 Davy
  22. Sounds great! Do an illegal version when you get the chance!!!!!!!!!!! j/k Davy
  23. Dan, I believe you'd have to do some modifications... If that is not within your time constraints, you'd be better off with just another '95 long block. I also have a '95 Suburban and have often thought about doing a 383 swap---there is a smog legal 383 motor for the '95 and earlier Chevy trucks often advertised by a Bay Area motor place or Chevy Dealer. Grab a DRIVE! magazine next time you go into Pep Boys, Kragen, or just about any Bay Area auto parts place. They aren't too expensive, but that is relative!!!! Davy
