  1. Things i have been wondering (i know everything can be done, but please explain approx what it takes, or if it is simply not worth it): 1. Can a GM t-56 (from a camaro) be bolted up to a Ford 302? 2. Can an FWD car easily be converted to RWD or is there often no room for diff? 3. How do you find out total member count at Hybridz? 4. Are four piston calipers better than 2 piston with the sliding deal on one side? 5. How much is a stock 240z sway bar worth? 6. What are the vents everyone says the series 1 has that other Z's don't (pics please)? 7. Was the Z's 150hp rated using the old system? 8. How do the autometer electronic speedometers calibrate? (By running a measured mile?) 9. Before painting a car does the entire body need to be stripped down to metal? primer? Thanks thats all for now
  2. Even though he woke up with enough time to gain control (although i doubt it concidering we only have his word to rely on) he would not be fully awake/aware and would most likely over compensate or undercompensate. It is his fault 100% imho. But as far as the explorer having a handling defect, I have one and i know it handles like crap, but there isnt anything unsafe about it. If someone knows exactly what the defect is please chime in. Plus, when you drive a car it is your responsability to drive the car within its limits. If i drove my explorer like a ferrari and flipped it certaintly wouldnt be the cars fault... although after this case it seems like it might be...
  3. Ive seen it done with oil pans on an audi 5000s. Is that a dual exhaust four cylinder? Thought that was bad for some reason?
  4. If i sit in a puddle of glue on the toilet seat it is home depots fault... What was the whole deal with the firestone tires any way? What was the total number of blowouts. Why were about ten million people okay and only a few affected?? I don't think there was anything else defective on the explorers other then the tires. BTW: I realize I asked when this happened, sorry the date was posted up top.
  5. Red is not an option, I am very opposed to speeding tickets.
  6. I have seen ads for strips of LEDs that open up like a star when put in the original light bulb hole. The effect is a 5 strip led light that looks cool on circlular brake lights.
  7. LOL i slide in the explorer every day. Granted ya it doesn't handle. But it doesn't matter when the driver falls asleep. Plus, I havent experienced the rollling voer thing yet either, I am sure i could flip it if i was unable to feel how the road is pullingon the car, but come on! Its **** like this that ruins the american car markets economy, that and shitty designs. Any car can flip, including sedans and coupes, they totally exploited this. The driver was inferior to the car. He obviously didnt know how to opporate the machine, ford should sue the state for issueing him a drivers license. Was this a long time ago, or is this a recent battle? I hope the appeal works... Imho the media is also to blame for flamming the whole explorer is prone to flip over and self destruct thing. I drive on the firestones and it is totally fine, ya the handleing sucks, but i drive it knowing this. It isnt noticeably anymore proned to flip than anyother suv bar the X5.
  8. Wow the r180 four pinion seems like a steal. JohnC, i know you use or used to use a r180, any idea how much the four pinion can hold (hp or torque). I know it has been talked to death but i can never get a straight answer.
  9. I would get those tailights in a heart beat. The rest of it is too aggressive for me, but i respect the large amount of talent you have exhibited. A+
  10. Same. Hoenstly is doesn't seem like it matters too much between the two, or am I missing something? If the lugs are straight then it should automatically be centered around the hub and lugs and way.
  11. Oh ya 15-20hp more isn't great for a new exhaust + reflash... Maybe a set of higher rpm cams would do the trick? I just like N/A heh.
  12. OMG that is a steal. The bay area is just really expensive i guess...
  13. I wish i could afford a hydraulic t/o... you guys with heavy pressure plates might want to look at that, it gets rid of the fork altogether and frees space for the exhaust.
  14. Isn't the speed limit also pretty much not enforced out there...?
  15. First response is OMG. That is cleaner/nicer then my finished car will probably ever be! I am 17 too. Are you planning on doing any kind of motorswap? Also, I would advice against the tokico springs, as they are progressive and give you a little too much absorbsion before the rate gets good, that is just my opinion. If you want illuminas and shocks cheap, find jdmwerks on ebay (he has a store). You can get illumina 5 ways with the springs for about $550, then just sell the springs, got $190 for mine. I am not a big 280z guy, i enjoy the 2 seater 240z's a bit more due to their much lighter weight. But that car has alot of potential. Honestly though, I wouldn't touch that thing it is in such good stock condition I would sell it, then buy a 240z that needed work. That is just me though. Fine specimen, welcome, and remember to use the search function before you ask a question.
  16. I don't understand how the engine can't be N/A and make good power? Is it because 4 cams costs alot of $$$$? It can't be ported much? Just wondering what gives?
  17. Maybe this is a dumb question, but, why doesn't she move to where you are?
  18. Ya so I got mine for $450 shipped, which isnt stellar, this one is $955 + $75.... with out axels... I am feeling really happy now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-1987-TURBO-LSD-DATSUN-NISSAN-300ZX-REAR-DIFF-NR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33731QQitemZ8014198989QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  19. Okay well I have decided. I am doing the lime green yellowish with silver rims + polished lip. Thanks for the opinons, feel free to vote still.
  20. Scale is not correct. There would be .625" of good thread and .25" of stripped followed by .375" of no threads (flywheel). 7/16" 20 bolts. It seems all of the ford databases got the part numbers mixed. Ford makes auto and manual bolts for the fly to crank. The auto bolts should be shorter because the flexplate is only 1/8" thick, the flywheel is 3/8" thick and so the manual bolts should be longer. but in their parts database they ahve manual bolts listed at about .75" and auto bolts at 1.06" that is wrong. All of the dealers I have called have confirmed that these are the specs. All of the people and performance shops I have asked have said that that is crazy the manual bolt should be longer. At kragen they even brought out a flexplate and a flywheel to compare. The manual bolts for sure should be longer.... I guess ill badger ford some.
  21. Okay so I am getting ready to choose wheel colors so I needed to have some color schemes for the car in mind. Photoshops are from Gollum on 2003z's car. I think I am leaning towards the Blue with dark blue valance and bronze rims with polished lip. The rims are neither of those bronzes and the dark dark blue strip is i dont know what, I wont have that, that is gollum's tastes This is color flipped. And here is what would be a greenish yellow with black rims + polished lip, sorry the picture is crazy look at the center of the door to get the color im going for. Those are the wheels in bronze, I dont have a black photo. So opinions...? Polished lip or no polished lip? Dark blue ontop or bottom? Green or blue? Bronze or black wheels? Etc.
  22. Personally it is not that I can't do it myself, I am all for learning, it is just that I don't trust my current level of skill on certain driveline parts. I am afraid that I would setup some tolerance incorrectly and end up wearing my gears out within 6 months or something. Since I got the r200 lsd form an 87-89 I think I will just study it's features some and learn how to tweak certain things. A complete install from scratch for me would be a little intense.
  23. Agreed...... How about instead you take a week vacation with her somewhere. Things are different when not in person, not to quelch your dreams. Once i talked to a girl pretty much everynight on the phone really nice things etc but had only met her twice in person a while back. After a month of talking sweetly on the phone daily we met again. That was catastrophic.......... I just straight up didn't like her and i guess she didn't either. Just remember at this stage if you want a girl to like you you better hope to god she doesn't know you like her. Acctually it is probably better if she thinks you don't like her. When you like a girl as much as you have expressed your vision will be very distorted. Atleast mine has been. NOTE: Marry your ex with out prenup and promptly divorce.
  24. Yah I am going to talk to ford for now and see what they say. I can't replace a crank, I don't have the money for the crank, and I don't have the speciality tools if there are any. I guess I could do it and it would be a good learning experience, but it is probably cheaper just to get a new JY motor in the same condition. Plus i would feel bad putting in a brand new crank while not overhauling everything else downthere... My main beef with it is that Ford sold me the wrong bolts, straight from the dealer!! Ugh.
