  1. Okay, I have been looking at 225/50/R15 tires to mount on rewinds for my 240z and was wondering if anyone had experiences with the Falken Ziex ZE-512, Kumho Ecsta 711, or BFG Gfroce Sport? The sport is the most expensive of the 3 ($78) and from the reviews it seems to be the best. But how do the Kumho's at $53 a wheel and the Ziex at $63 a wheel match up? If i knew for certain that I was keeping this set of wheels for a while, then I would be more inclined to go with the Sports, but I am basically keeping these wheels until the Rota Grids become available which could be tommorow, next month, next year, or never. So here are some of the tires general specs: BFG GForce Sport - 340 AA A - 23 Lbs - VR Speed Rating Kumho Ecsta 711 - 320 AA A - 22 Lbs - HR Speed Rating Falken Ziex ZE-512 - 360 AA A - VR Speed Rating Total prices for four tires works out to be: BFG GForce Sport - $312 Kumho Ecsta 711 - $212 Falken Ziex ZE-512 - $252 So in your opinions in the extra $25 or $15 per tire for the g-Sports justified? Or are the others just as good? And if they are not as good, are they still the better choice because alot of money is saved? Thanks!
  2. Are master rebuilds really that bad? I have a 15/16 i got from the JY I was thinking to rebuild it but are the aftermarket seals and what not worse.....?
  3. When i specified up there i ment a few posts up... not my own post. So torquioning fasteners in/lbs and springs lb/in. Unless you are saying i am wrong because the use of the / sign, i mean it the same as a hyphen or whatever other seperator you like... sorry.
  4. Custom driveshaft is only like $150-200 bucks at a local auto shop or machine shop i believe. Also i do not think you need to cut the steering shaft depending on how you locate the block and what headers you use, I will be trying test fits this weekend so i will keep you posted. Also, tranny mount is the same as the JTR piece but i believe you have to drill a whole or only use two wholes or something of the sort. I think someone said that relocation of the oil pan sometimes isn't even necessary because there can be 1/8" or so of space between the front of the block and the x-member... Once again ill check it out this weekend. Hope that helped. PS search....
  5. Most definately from the looks of it. It will seriously pull multiple g's from your wallet aswell...... especially since it is bose
  6. I found out the summit piece really isnt hydraulic it is a normal T/O. I am going to build my own out of wilwood parts, I think the price i came up with was about $200 to do it all, including fab work, of course it will probably be more like $300.
  7. I bought exactly that, how much did the TO set you back?
  8. Just out of curiosity why would some one want a less than mediocre muffler?
  9. http://www.craigslist.org/pen/pts/108903025.html Just warning anyone going to buy these, i checked them out, they are 16X6.5 or 16X7, not 16X8. I measured. Also their offset is too far plus to be used w/o spacers i think, but am not sure (just by looking). Notice how large the 245mm tires are on it, it definatly isn't an 8" rim. The guy measured 8" from the outside, not the inside. Note: he is also offering spacers with the wheels for free i believe, if you are looking to get the spacers + wheels i noted atleast one of the 8 were cracked about .75mm crack on the outside edge, it shouldn't be a stressed area IMHO which is what concerned me. They are 8mm spacers. He was friendly though and i think he genuinely didn't know, although he seemed a little hostile towards the hybrid idea just sensed it. Good thing i did my homework.
  10. What would be the cost to get the mirror black chrome done on four wheels? Approx... thanks
  11. Thats exactly what i wanted to say in 1 sentence
  12. Awesome i will clean mine up and try to sell it then.
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX-TT-R230-LSD-VLSD-V8_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33731QQitemZ8010331855QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW He says it is a practically bolt in swap for a 240z/260z/280z.... Uh-o.....
  14. Hope you are okay with walking for a while. Ya i am going carb also, using a 600 cfm which from what i read is a little too much for a stock 5.0 (they reccomend around 500 cfm to keep TQ up), but that leaves room to grow for me. I am going dual plane also with short runners for better cold starts and more instant response, at the expense of high end power, but thats fine b/c stock 302 doesn't make much power past 5 maybe 5.5 even though it redlines at what??? 5.8k i think? To find the redline why don't you look it up on summit or fordracings website, i know it says it somewhere on both those sites b/c i have seen it there. I thinkt he e-303 is the lower rpm one maybe 6k to 6.25k i think the x maybe hits 6.5k i totally can't remember though, so don't take it too seriously. I still don't get why you would spend 2.2k in an 88 motor when you can get a new 300hp block for about $2000 with GT40 heads, ARP bolts, chrome moly rings, and an x, e, or b cam... Also you could simply opt for the AFR or twisted wedge heads you want, and be at that 400hp for probably about $3000. Saves alot of down time as well, plus there will still be plenty of swap work left. If that is not enough do it yourself for you, then ya stick to the 88 block. I am not a guy who likes to simply pay for everything and not work, but I am also not the kind of guy who likes to do work that takes alot of time and turns out an inferior product for almost the same cost.
  15. Thanks but that doesn't help. I realize that upgrading the sway bar and adding a back bar helps alot. Hence why i have a suspensions techniques set that I just installed What i was wondering, to clarify, is that with age and use does the stock metal front 240z sway bar lose its ability to be effective, either by becoming too soft or too brittle? Or does the bar pretty much stay the same and behave as if it were new (provided new bushings are supplied)?
  16. Your still going to kill yourself. But if that is what you plan on doing, then ya do what they said above. Although about TB's i just need a little clarification, I was reading on fordfuelinjection.com and it said a stock TB recieves 5volts and sends back about 4v at stock WOT. The guy mentioned that upgrading to some larger TB's will trick the computer by sending back a reading of less volts for the same airflow. Would this mean that computer reprogramming would/should be done if one upgrades the TB?
  17. Hate to break it to you but that is like every road in italy. Assuming thsi is in italy, which I have an inkling it is, then this is pretty much the only place to drive fast. Other then the autostradas which might be worse b/c of trucks.
  18. Especially not good for high rpm/Hp imh because the rod doesnt point to the center of the crank journal, it pushes on the side, cantalevered....
  19. Im 17 so far i have been in one accident 100% her fault in a parking lot. I was going straight in the correct direction, she was cutting across lanes/spaces with out looking, when she hit me i was looking straight at the back of her head. She T-Boned me at like 10mph. I have been driving since 15 but took the FIAT out in italy (with my parents) numerous times when i was 14. Bad car to learn on as it feels like a toy, the clutch is as soft as the gas, no joke. But it was good for experience in passing and what not, being in italy and all. I am of the opinion that the majority of things should be taught in a driving school, but there simply is no substitute for experience. You can tell a kid till he is blue in the face that over 65mph shouldn't be done but they aren't going to listen until the cops get them. I got a ticket for 102mph on 580 once, the road was completely open and there were no hazards (except for unforseen hazards that in theory could of happened if the sun and moon aligned correctly), don't worry i don't do that any more. But i was really only going 98, the guy just wanted to hit me with the 100+ ticket b/c i was young, and probably b/c an explorer shouldn't be taken that fast. Thats how i learned that one. The only problem with the cops getting you before physics does, is that it seems to only reinforce the invinsible aspect of being a teenager in that the boy who spead now understands that the consequences is cops, it is still hard for him to make the connection that speeding can/will kill you. Im working on it.
  20. Just wondering if a 30 year old sway bar loses its springyness (torsinol [sp] rigidity) over time? I think it is the stock bar. Thanks
  21. Ya i forgot that he wanted to roll them up and down :S A vent would be easy to make though but rolling them up and down would be hard. If you are willing to comprimise get rid of the window mechanism and fix in a lexan window with a vent that can be open/closed. But i think where alot of weight could be saved is the rear hatch glass -> lexan.
