  4. I have heard that alsil's mount is directly centered instead of offset 3/4" to the passangers side. Has this been an issue for anyone using the mount? Or does everything run fine? As i understand it the rest of the 240z's drive train is offset to the right, does the engine need to be as well to keep all the angles good. Also if upgrading to an r200 does the 3/4" offcenter to the right still apply or was it changed back to 0 offset for r200 cars.
  5. I think we will be seeing 0-60 in 2 in 20-30 years, because we wont be driving the cars, the computers will................
  6. that same car or one like it was on ebaumsworld.com if you search the site (sorry i don't have time right now) there is that car going forward and then getting slammed into reverse it does a wheelie like thing, pretty sick.
  7. Agreed but California smog isn't exactly easy to pass from what i hear. My girlfriends dad has an 84 suzuki samurai that can't pass smog, and my 1992 ford explorer failed, the first time, then we had a new cat installed. Also my brothers 1991 mustang failed the first time, and it isn't even modified. All of those cars don't seem like junkers to me and they all run fine, but on a dyno pull with the sniffer they just arent up to snuff aparently. Just seems like the smog laws are itching to put us all in new cars, which is nice, but lets not forget the old.
  8. exactly i like cars! But eh the prius is the only car that makes me mad, and the insight (but onyl cuz of the insights looks). I don't like how everyone jumped on the hybrid band wagon when a good amount of gas cars in europe are quite capable of making the same mpg. Why not just buy a diesel euro spec car, would blow the prius away. Any way it just pisses me off that people buy into that crap that the prius is going to save the earth. That being said hybrid tech has potential just it shouldnt have to be coupled with ugly looks, automatics, and ultra-liberal ways (not trying to be political but hey i live in San Francisco and thats what ive ntoiced thats all) (note: i cant wait for the hybrid performance cars to start coming out {if they have a stick, if not eh it dont intrest me much, personal preference})
  9. intresting john well i will take some measurements to make sure the holes are exactly where they should be, if they are is there any chance im okay or should i just get rid of them and look else where? A professional did the resizing of the lug holesmaybe thats worth something, i dont know.
  10. is it that dangerous, the holes are altered but not to the point that they make a figure 8 more like a normal size bolt hole and then a slightly larger one offset 1-2mm
  11. intresting the guy i bought the wheels from did mention something about the lugs being a certain "style" that the nut (as i understood it to be) goes inside the wheel slightly.
  12. nobody knows the year of the 280z u-joint style halfshafts? (with r200)
  13. r200 lsd 87 on in a 300zxT i believe..... not positive though
  14. I have a set of 15X8 eagle rims. The bolt holes are slightly oval, i think the previous owner changed from 4X108 to 4X114.3. The man said that he used them for 3 years and it was fine. Should i be worried, how big of a deal is this?
  15. Thanks for the numbers john just what i needed and thanks others for the scrap yard idea i didn't think about that. But I don't think I will be going that route, im going to use emachineshop.com you guys should check it out. What you do is CAD out what you need using their software and then their robots cut it up for you and in a little time the piece arrives at your door. Does anyone else think this is a good idea?
  16. I got a rear end from the pick-n-pull from a 280z. The problem is, this was a year ago, and I forgot the year! I know it is an R200 because of the shape and the car was a manual, obviously. Now what i was wondering is what eyar should i specify the car as when ordering new half shafts, the car has the u-joint style shafts. When i went on kragen.com for the years 76 and 77 the site said that it is a CV. Is this an upgrade or is kragen simply calling all half shafts cv's? thanks
  17. so why didnt anyone continue on this technology? other thant he gas exploding thing?
  18. 100 octane in japan isnt 100 octane here. There is a difference with the method of finding octane content. A 100 japanese (or european i believe) octane rating is somewhere around our 91-93 octane rating (in the states). Now if it was configured for 100 US method octane then yah i would be worrying about where to find gas. But if it is the japanese/(possibly euro) rating then dont worry about it. Search octane ratings on google im sure there is a tone of stuff.
  19. Ya okay sounds good, im doing this for a ford 302 though so i think im going to look how the jtr mounts hoo up to the datsun cross member and then start from there. thanks guys
  20. Well i was thinking to CAD them out and send them into a machine shop to be done, there isn't a generic steel that people usually use for this kind of stuff? Also the thickness should be... 1/4" (minimum)??
  21. What type of steel should motormounts be made out of (the number) thanks! I am inquiring this so that i can have a machine shop make them.
  22. 1182 Pounds, approximately 14 feet HOLY CRAP!
  23. oh wow your right those dont look stretched at all, fantastic. ANy brand suggestions. I want to stay around $400 or lower for all 4 tires
