  1. I asked the guy he said it will run on gas or propane.
  2. From 1 to 10 im at about a 10 for how ridiculously jealous i am Good for you man awesome wheels... those are the same i wanted.
  3. http://www.craigslist.org/nby/pts/98569291.htmlthis man is selling an L20A which got me thinking. In the Datsun manual it says that the L20A has a much smaller bore and stroke (yet it does not rev higher?) and only makes 115hp. Is it possible to overbore this engine alot before getting to the walls. Does anyone know if this is essentially the same block as the L24 simply destroked and with a smaller bore. If so if the engine had the room for a good overbore it could become like a destroked 240z engine that with headwork would be able to spin to some pretty high rpms... right? Or is the head still the major limiting factor here. Thanks!
  4. HOLY CRAP with a supra motor... wait the 7m or the 2jz, wait does it matter. Thats ridiculously trick, i didn't know they were rear wheel. But that is super sleeper. How much was it?
  5. variable vale timing is nothing like vtec.... If i rmeember correctly. Vtec has a secondary set of highrevving (different lobes for top end power) cams that switch on by sliding rockers.... no wait sliding a pin threw the rockers if i rmemeber correctly thus utilizing the high rev cam when certain rpms are reached. Variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) does not have a secondary cam set and cannot allow anywhere near the top end power/high revs vtec can. I think im right but not positive. Well almost positive. But also the tvr makes more power because it is tuned to. Nissan makes a 300hp version of the Vg35 as well you jsut lose some torque thats all. The 287hp is a compromise between torque for the street and hp for racing. Obviously there are many other factors like compression, combustion chamber design, head design, etc etc. All these things add up.
  6. OOOO i got ideas can you kinda make a "budget" for the total project like i don't know $3000 for the car and $2000 for upgrades. Just give me a price for the car That way it wont be like okay i got a ferrari ill just add nos thats less than $2k vs i got a jetta $2k in turbo..... Okay bad example just what type of car can we start with. Used? New? any way cars that can be had for "cheap": old miata old sentra a little more $$: 90's rx-7 late 80's m3 90-96 300zx tt or n/a how about an old hyundai
  7. Does all that extra cage help that much. I would think that the excessive (imo) amount of metal put into it would simply add too much weight and now that the car has such a strong cage, your body would be taking the force instead whereas before some of the force atleast could be absorbed. Im all for cages because they do do alot, but i think at a certain point isn't too much as far as stiffness to the point that it would be acctually more dangerous? Just wondering
  8. awesome, i didn't notice too many suspension mods until they showed the opne picture of the tubes coming out of the struts. I would think that would be the primary modification, or is the welds for chassis stiffining THAT important if your dadding that much cage any way.
  9. Wait so back to the f20c... what did honda do wrong with the primary set of cams. Maybe they left in a 1000 hp gap in the cam design so that the vtec has time to switch over? Even so why not just kick the vtec in at 5,000 and have a more torquey primary cam?
  10. How much do you need to overbore to fix the cylinder wall... seems like a chunk would be missing.
  11. engine swap....... put a 2jz in it after u blow the little 1.5 up. But id say it can't handle it, even if it can thats a big risk for a 1 year old car....
  12. zcarparts.com sells them in fiber glass and carbon fiber
  13. the ratio on a z31 would be setup for a powerassist so it would be much harder to steer than a s30 if they were both w/o power steer. I think, correct me if im wrong, plus the z31 is heavier...
  14. maybe i moderator should lock the thread and deal with it how they feel before this becomes a flame war?
  15. ouch how did it happen? How'd the compressor come free And how did the bottom end get like that, not enough lubrication?
  16. also arent people going to notice the turbo? or are you magically making 500hp na
  17. I believe that the nissan L6 is a copy of a mercedes engine so it could go fine in a mercedes of the right time period, the valve cover can simply be switched as well. i think do some research.
  18. IMHO best JYs in norcal are in rancho cordova. I remember seeing about 20 240-280z there at one time which was pretty good, i live in oakland and it is worth the trip. The one in richmond is gardbadge, thought i was gunna get mugged too. But the one in San leandro/Oakland is too small. So your kind of stuck with the richmond one. Try newerk maybe? Also one in Hayward near depot road i went there it is ho humm not too many datsuns but then again I was looking for the 300zx turbo rear end, like i was really going to find it...
  19. Pop N Wood one last question is the adjustable rod your talking about the one that pushes directly into the MC from the booster or the rod that determines pedal travel (or are they the same)?
  20. Just wondering in general if most people check their boosters or rebuild them before upgrading their brakes. Is it a piece that needs rebuilds often. The manual (from nissan) says every 2 years and every 4 years for some parts. That is quite often. Just wodnering other peoples experiences with this. thanks
  21. Hey thanks pop N Wood i never knew it was adjustable (i havent opened it up yet, ill check my manual)
  22. a larger diameter booster will create more of a pull for a shorter distance. Where as a smaller diameter booster as found in the 240z's will have a farther stroke but less pull. Whether or not this is enough to warrent a change i don't know. Will be intresting to find out, I am going to do the mc swap w/o changing booster so why doesn't someone try it with a changed booster. BTW pop n wood, does the rod need any length changes? You hooked your 15/16"s up to a 240z booster correct?
  23. No clue call your local auto shop. But i would start with the central coast block, its brand new and makes great hp, and already has the better gt40 heads and x-303, or b-303 cam. The shop will tell you what else you need. Probably valve covers and exhaust etc.
  24. spend the 1900-2400 depending on what your willing to pay at http://shop.centralcoastmustang.net/osb/itemdetails.cfm?ID=34 you get a 340 hp long block 302 with 10.5:1 compression.... if your richer spend the 3k and get the 370 horse, poorer you can always settle for the $1900 300 horse. But honestly it is the best way to go for the money unless you got a lead on a early 90's (non hyperutectic) engine for cheap.
