Havent read my JTR manual in some time but i'm fairly certain no cutting was involved. Changing to the JTR mounts will be more involved and costly as you will probably have to change certain things. (no more mechanical fuel pump, shorten the driveshaft, buy the mounts/kit) At the end of the day though there is no better time to do that then while the motor is already out and having the motor behind the front wheels will improve how the car handles.

I still have the hatch w/ glass and the one without glass but if you remember last time we spoke shipping was pretty expensive due to dimensional weight. shawn

If your car is a 77 or 78 the depth of the spare tire well is less because of the space saver spare and a larger gas tank. I have read that any tank can fit on the 77-78 but that a 77-78 tank will not fit a 70-76 car. Also, I have a filler tube with cap in good condition if you are interested.

On my 260 I used a fein multimaster to get in there and sand off whatever rust I could before spraying it with an encapsulator. If you remove the wiper motor you can get in there ok. I also drilled out the spot welds for the flap on the passenger side. There is a metal oval shaped piece under there and water collects on the edges which rusts through and appears to be the reason so many passenger floorpans look worse than the drivers side. Lastly if you decide to replace the cowl I have 3 you can choose from cheap. Good luck.

It looks like a scarab style mounting to me. If the dizzy is more than a 1/2" off the firewall then it should be. I have a scarab style mounting as well and my air filter is about 4" above the fenders so i'm hoping the jtr kit will let me run a stock hood too.

i have all the trim pieces from the rear shock towers forward. black, and in pretty good shape

I am looking to purchase a solid shell in the northern va, maryland area. i would prefer one without a motor or transmission since i have my own. I do not mind a little bit of rust but i would like a shell without rust on the rocker panels, wheel wells, or rear quarters. I would consider any car with rust in the hatch lip, floor pans, or battery tray. Must have straight engine rails. I am hoping to spend in the area of $600. Thanks. I personally love the unibits but only the ones made by GreenLee. Home Depot and others made knock offs that are totally inferior. GreenLee also makes hole saws designed for metal with a shallow cup and a spring loaded pilot bit though on a curved surface it may not meet your needs. I agree with the above posts however on that large ebay bit, as soon as it breaks through it will pull in, bind, and distort the hole.

Buy it, drive it, then if the day comes you're eating mustard sandwhiches sell the dash and door panels. Also, some people learn how to fix things by breaking them and what better car to break things on than one "too far gone". I have a 260 shell i'm keeping around just to practice welding on. Whatever your decision, good luck with it and enjoy!
