Ironhead
Do you remember seeing a small hole in the upper driver's side corner of the windshield frame? I am not referring to the drain holes on the lower frame...this would be a smaller hole, maybe 1/8" in diameter.... My car has such a hole, and I do not know if it is supposed to be there for some reason (can't imagine what) or if maybe it was made when my car was media blasted or something. Debating whether to leave it or fill it with seam sealer before putting in the windshield.... Like I said, I cannot imagine the purpose of this hole, but it looks pretty much perfectly round like it is supposed to be there. Thanks! I can't remember ever seeing one like you're describing.
Neverdone
Just went into the garage to check on any holes in the windshield frame. The only one I was able to find is the lower drain hole on the bottom end of it. No holes in the upper part.
jhm
Have had the windshield out of my last two 260s and did not have any such hole in driver upper corner of the frame.
Ironhead
Weird. There is no evidence there was ever rust there, so all I can guess is that it was a thin spot in the metal that was cut through when the car was media blasted, which really makes very little sense. I'll post a pic tomorrow. In the meantime I'm going to fill it in. Thanks for all the input.
LLave
Just double checked mine. No hole. Unless it is filled with lead of filler.
Ironhead
Here is the hole in question. Like I said, I am pretty positive it is not a rust hole, and to me it looks deliberate. I don't know what to think. I'm filling it.
JMortensen
Don't remember a hole there. There are some oval drain holes in the bottom. That's not going to hurt anything, I'd leave it alone, but filling won't hurt anything either.
grannyknot
Right in that corner is where the factory filled with lead to seal up the join between the panels and to smooth out that area so the rubber windshield seal can be water tight. PrincePaul
No hole there on mine (78" 280Z)
NCchris
My early 260 does not have that hole.
