v8wannabe2
I flamed up the backsplash for my workbench and snapped a picture of it with my Z in the forground. Looking at the picture I start thinkin' what the car would looked like flamed. I doubt that I will, but let's hear your opinions.
Drftn280zxt
Wow nice flame work. I think if you could flame the car as nice as the backsplash it would look awesome. Especially if the flames wrapped up around the rocker panels and front fenders.
DavyZ
I'm very impressed with your flame work and it would look good on the Z, but that is your choice: how much, where on the car, etc. I think you paint them well enough that they would look great on the car. How long have you been painting flames and how did you learn the technique? Do you paint for a living or is this a hobby? Flame any other cars as well? It all looks good! veritech-z
If you are going to do flames, true flames are the way to go! I'd put my vote for having them come out of someplace that would make it look like the car was actually on fire, like the cowl area near the vents and inspection lids, also on the sides behind the wheel well. I'm all for in your face paint schemes, and besides, it's only paint, right?
Twoeightnine
Nice work. I agree with veritech-z. Not the classic from the front but, from underneath and the wells. Would look trick.
dr_hunt
It isn't a hotrod unless it's flamed!
Bartman
No, don't put them on your Z...but show me how I can put them on mine.
theianmonster
I say yes, primeraly because you do amazing flame work, and also because not many people flame Z's. My only suggestion is try a different color of flames.
b__sosick
flames are cool as long as you DONT OVER DO THEM. :]
BWRex
ghost flames would be sick on a that black Z......
v8wannabe2
So much for the debate idea, thanks for the feedback. DavyZ, I've been painting traditional flames on junk around the garage for 2-3 years (the toolbox was done by with masking tape and spray bombs)..never a full car. After watching a lot of Overhaulin' and Rides, especially Mike Lavalle I decided to pick up the airbrush and start playing. Here's a pic of the stuff I used to do the backsplash. Regular old rust paint, the template I cut out of cardboard (you can buy solvent resistent versions). First I fogged in the red just to create the rough shape, with the orange I used the template to create the lines and a lot of the yellow work was with the template trying to accent the existing lines. GOTHALOSISM
i think some nice black ghost flames with a green penstripe around them would set it off nicely.
LS1 240Z
personaly i think that it looks kinda trashy... i like the nitrous bottles that have flames on them, but the only car ive ever seen those flames look good on was a 32 high boy. Dragonfly
Some pics of my buddies car from http://www.zraceproducts.com with "traditional" ghost flames on it. I am not sure what the "real flames" type flames would look like painted in a ghost fashion. Dragonfly
MrFurious
Flames don't line up quite right directionally, but this should give you a general idea of how it would look.

280zNHChris
With your skills I'd charge others to flame their cars. Nice work. Use your car as a rolling sample of your work. Chris
