VW BUG, only Herbie knows why.

No, I believe this is 100% Mexican built and not a foreign company building cars in Mexico type of deal. But yeah, alot of foreign car manufacturing companies love the cheap labor Mexico offers etc..

probably more cars built in mexico than in usa.just got back from cabo san lucas.lots of new cars there.used to be a tech at ford dealers.ford focus is built in mexico.since most cars are assembled from out sourced parts it would be hard for somebody to build a completely mexican car

Seems to me that my front wheel drive retro VW bug was built in Mexico; as well as my Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.4 Turbo HO. Both were pretty decent cars by the way.

This car, after further reading, was designed by Mexican Engineers and it is hand made in Mexico. The power plant is a Ford 2.0 with turbo (250hp/250torq). Yes, they sourced the Engine and tranny but the concept and design is all Mexican.

Oh yeah, the TopGear, wow, what a shitty angle they took on this car. Instead of being happy, hey, Mexico's first car....they took the cheap route in my books.

Well, there you have it: ignorant and proud of it.

They insult everyone eventually, why should Mexico be an exception and why is it soooo terrible.

I don't get the reason to insult anyone on a car show. Maybe I just don't watch the show enough. The times that I do watch it they seem to drive the car and give feedback as they are driving it. I guess skipping the driving and getting straight to the crap spewing gets more ratings.

Anyways, I just didn't expect Mexico to come out with any type of car in my lifetime. Specially, a sports car that looks and performs pretty decent. I was expecting more of a 15 passenger van of some sort, lol. TopGear, call me.

They're british, they are the insult.

Fixed.

Seriously, that's all they got. Bad teeth, bad food, worse weather. Well, that and the accents.

I'm not one to berate Mexican ingenuity. The good news is: if something breaks, duct tape and bungee cords will be the factory recommended method of repair and it will use tequila or Tecate/King Cobra as a flex fuel. The bad news is: you will probably get pulled over sometime after your purchase, then you will find out that the wheels and emblems are stolen property.

I agree that their comments went a bit far. I mean, most of it wasn't even funny. Like one or two racy jabs wouldn't have been tasteless.

If all you've got to pan about the car is its point of origin, then you're obviously reaching.

In all fairness, the British should really look at their domestic automotive industry. It took Ford buying Jaguar to get them to make something that would run long enough to at least drive it off the lot. If the comments they made about the industry reflecting the national culture, then I'd assume that all British people are gawdy, angular and unreliable.

Mexican car?

What, it comes here without official importation or Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin, then breeds, and displaces native born vehicles with governmental subsidies...

Top Gear got nothing on those who live in the border zone...

+1

It's what Top Gear does. Don't take it so seriously.

Yeh, it's called 'taking the piss' and other things, its a form of humorous teasing. Some people need to learn that there are cultural differnces and to not take themselves too seriously.
