  1. I was saying you might want to consider putting a Duramax into your Chevy. Depends on what you call a skid steer? I should have said tracked loader, it looks alot like this one.... http://cmms.cat.com/cmms/servlet/cat.dcs.cmms.servlet.DynamicImageServlet?imageid=C200448&imageType=2 And yes, the trailer is real heavy as well, plus we throw some other items on there.
  2. Typed "welded" into the search function and searched in the "Drivetrain" forum.....http://forums.hybridz.org/search.php?searchid=770666
  3. I bought an old rusty Datsun to try and fix up. What a money hole!
  4. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116829 here is TimZs above set up.
  5. Cant say enough good things about the Dodge Cummins trucks, several friends have them and those things are beasts. You might want to consider the Duramax 6.6 with the Allison. We have one in a Cheverolet 4500 and it pulls like none other. We pull a skid steer with it alot and that set up weighs 10 tons, pulls it just fine. Also in the latest issue of Diesel Power, the Duramax won the diesel challenge on a single turbo set up, something to think about.
  6. As far as the block goes, I think the n42 will be fine. 1 fast z is running a n42 on his stroker and TimZ is making well over 500 whp on his turbo Z also using an n42. TimZ is also running an n42 head as well.
  7. Yea it will make that light go off that is above the HVAC controls, the "Floor Temp" light.
  8. The strut mounts are mounted inside the body with some bolts. Behind them, I wish I had a pic I could show you.
  9. I just wanted to see some pics closed and such, and what brand it is? Thanks
  10. Yea more like mid to high 15s...it only put down 134 with a cam and headers? A stock l28 in 280z does that.....http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=92888&highlight=280z+dyno
  11. 285 horsepower stock, better flowing heads than the stock LS1 heads, defiantely have potential. Problem is its always mated with an auto, but you can put a manual behind it but it brings the price up.
  12. I think the Trans AM is a good idea, you can find z31 Turbos pretty cheap. They are 200 hp stock and respond very well to mods as well. good luck
  13. My guess is high 13s. What did it dyno?
  14. "then you gotta slip something in my mouth to shut me up"
  15. painless wiring harness? my car is wired with that and it is clean!
  16. Nice color! Looks awesome! But on a different note, a friend of mine blended his front fiberglass air dam exactly like yours. I dont know if yours is fiberglass but in about a year his started to crack below the headlight bucket, something to watch out for.
  17. Well if you are going to make an exact replica you are talking major money, because an s20 costs hella amouns of cash.
  18. How do you guys feel about the rod knock issue in these motors? I had done alot of reading and it seems to happen alot and makes the motor seem fragile? I also read that on completely stock motos with meticulous maintence and low miles the rod knock developed. I contancted member Supra510 about this and he is on his 3RD motor I beleive he said. So from my readings the 7m needs: Metal headgasket and ARP headbolts, and it need to have this rod knocking addressed? Ideas?
  19. My first 280z was here in town and it came to my house, my second 280z was given to me for free, and the third and one that is currently being restored I drove 20 hours non stop to get it, $500, no motor, no trans, NO RUST (haven't found anything major yet). And in all honestly, If i had the money, I would pick up a 77-78 out in SoCal because one, they still have to pass all that smog/emissions stuff and are therefore cheaper out there and in my experience they are tighter cars, the doors shut like butta baby!
  20. I am 99% percent sure he lives in California, his car is orange with some black accents and it is an LS motor.
  21. There are members on here who have smog legal LS1 swaps in s30s. One even has a special door plate thing?
  22. I am just trying to find a local shop that can do it, I remember when I saw the member I said to myself, "Oh he isn't to far from me, I can have the same shop do mine."
