  1. sweet so there is still hope for me. what are the added benifits?
  2. isn't the heater core piping made of copper? then the should look a milky blueish green.
  3. Nice. Did you spray? Did you thin it, if so with what? I am intrigued.
  4. I've been told baking soda in the coolant. Not sure if it works or would even try it on any of my cars. Supposedly electrical properties of water and baking soda and iron oxide come into play. Just what Ive heard.
  5. Not necessarily. Injection and carburation are just means to atomize fuel into the air to enter the engine. Of course injustion has alot more sensors to monitor other reading to calculate timing and duration. EFI systems that I am I have seen do not have barometer sensors, which monitors humidity.
  6. Also check the AFM connection and to see if you have the right O2 sensor, If I recall, there were 2 different 02 sensors used and aren't interchangable.
  7. HAHAHAHA. Only thing I liked on it was that they subtley flared out the rear qtr panels. Everything else is just gocky. All that equipment is like another 1000 lbs. on there.
  8. thanx for clarifying my point on humidity. I can understand it in my head, but when I try to explain it, it all goes blah. I'm more of an example type of person than verbal.
  9. Well one of my dreams shot down again. Good info though. thanx
  10. Something I found on my daily browsing. http://tooshocking.com/content/videos/movie_3ae9dbe42bdaddc4dbbaf2dc55f979e0.wmv
  11. I think it would be safer if you did a relay circuit switch then you don't have to look for and mount such a beefy switch, unless you like something like a circuit breaker switch on there.
  12. Oops I ment SR20VE head from a G20.
  13. I don't know if any of my explainations are true but this is my take on it. 1. From rain I see added weight and higher humidity. 2. This wouldbe true from my experience. 3. More humid air is less capabile to compress due to the added moisture. Also the added water vapor carries heat more easily than air and expands more than air when heated.
  14. I was looking through ebay when I saw a sr20de (neo vvt) from a infiinity G20 (FWD). Now if you had the head and all the electronics from that with a short block from a SR20det from a silvia , would that work? Just curious because I just might be considering that build. edit: I know the ecu has to be remapped for the turbo, but it has variable valve timing, so I don't think the silvia ecu would work.
  15. Any Z restored is a always a good thing. I think the car looks great and you shouldn't change a thing.
  16. Sweet. some times I wish the 280z was a bit boxier so it would be easier to fab up a air damn that would match the shape of the car. Now I want to go make something. Very awsome indeed.
  17. There was a sale on Speedglas auto helmets a while ago on a website. Don't remeber the site. They were going for $59.95 with a 3 year warenty. This guy I knew bought one and hasn't any problems with it. I'm sure there won't be any sales like that for a long time. It even had a positive air feed into the helmet.
  18. shouldn't there be one on the firewall above the master cylindar? To get a VIN plate made for these cars is easy. just take out the dash drill out the rivets hold the VIN plate and remove them rivet a new one in. To make one use a chissel or impact lettering. You can easily tel its a 240z by looking at the tailights. 240z has the reverse light part of the rest of the tailight while the 260z 280z have separate reverse lights.
  19. I wouldn't mind taking the fenders but shipping alone is going to cost $400+ to up here.
  20. 69 was when cars were subjected to emmissions test. the 240z didn't have really any smog related equipment because it passed smog testing with out any for the standards of that year. If I am correct they are "suppose to" inspect the engine as if it 383 (which it is). I'm sure most of them don't even know that and wouldn't want to bother with it because its such a odd inspection a classic import with a domestic engine. You should ask a IM ref whats going on with your inspection, just look in the phone book. If anything in cali your car would be concidered a "kit car" and would only have to do a dyno run, with out IM inspection.
  21. I yanked the dash out of my 280z and weighed it without the guages, came out to be 25 lbs. Alot of weight for something that just holds your guages and vents. As far as baby steps, change something with the seats. That the first thing you see getting into the car.
  22. I would say having everythig that would stand out hidden, like speakers, amps and things like that. If you want to really change your interior then build a custom dash.
  23. I don't know about where you are but up here you can find a used MIG for like $50 at every other garage sale but they are usually those crappy costco ones but you might find a good one and the crappy ones are fine for body work (if they work). A good one will always have optional gas.
  24. I think the paint you were mentioning was made by dupont. works well with vinel and leather. If you want custom, like show car custom, then buy alot of card board. Most of those panels are made of wood fiberglass and bondo. All that isn't all that light either. If anything I say just get new seats or rehopolster(sp) them and remove some panels, to lighten up the car. anything to save gas lol.
