  1. Thanks. Well I've been thinking more on it and Am probably be going to hack the old fenders and reshape it. With something like this, everything is up in the air and nothing is set in stone as of yet, I just need a solid general plan of attach for this that is flexible to things changing as I move along with it. I still have a while to figure things out so I just need some suggestions from everyone. Yes I am planning to incorporate the whole assemblely (cut in half of course). I was planning to make whole new fenders when I ordered them but when I got them, they seemed alot more smaller than what I was expecting, so I might not need to make a whole new fender.
  2. I found a book on building car security systems at the local university library. Pretty intreging. Didn't have anything on lowjack tracking systems though. I am thinking on tring to build one of these but with a taser incorporated somewhere. If it goes off on me by accident then I'll just be out for half a hour lol.
  3. Have you tryed swapping a headlight or at least plugging in a different headlight? Just by chance that the low beam filiment on both headlights were out?
  4. I finally got my yamaha 2003 R6 headlights in the mail I was wondering, would it be easier to make a whole new set of fenders out of fiber glass to get them to fit or would making a housing out of sheet metal be any easier. BTW I was planning on making some kind of turn signal to go where the grill is shown on the headlights.
  5. Yeah I know its not necessary to paint clear. I was just asking because I might want to try this but I want something with a tinted clear (toner and clear). just curious.
  6. If you want to go walnut for those reasons, then I recommend soda blasting media (course baking soda used for blasting). It barely even scuff the metal underneath. And its easily removed with water or solvents, unlike sand and walnut. Great for removing paint down to the metal. I don't know about nozzle size but I use a 30/70 mix of media. I also like using slag mix. It shouldn't cost you more than $15-$20 for the media I use, but I'm not sure about walnut or soda (I sometimes happen to find a bag of soda in my trunk after I visit my dad's work:mrgreen:)
  7. would it be better to hook up the pvc from the crank to somewhere in the plumbing before the turbo (not directly).
  8. To add to this , most industrial shops sell used ones that are usually inpected before they sell it. Could save you alot more. Also when spraying, wait till the compressor stops before you do spray. If you continually spraying, you might burn out your compressor.
  9. Yeah it has something to do with the anti freeze being corrosive towards non faris (sp) metals, just what I remember from reading about it. Kind of the opposite with straight water and a iron block, something to do with the Hp level.
  10. Have you tried experimenting with clear coats?
  11. lol. I got mine 3 months ago and all I can figure out is that it make a good paperweight, it works a little too good. Now only if I could figure out how to turn it on, it could probably restore both my Zs
  12. I'm sure its because of there being ecentually 2 maps to deal with because of different timing. the older vtec was like a on and off system for the higher rpm cam, it was "variable" in that when it came on was decided by the ecu. I'm sure the guys on the honda forums didn't rebuild the engine to lower compression ratio either. I think I'll megasquirt it and have a it event timed to change when to switch cams. I remember someone on here a couple of weeks ago saying they were in developement in a Niss data or something like that. a nissan equivilant to the Hondata. Any chance to have VVL control? EDIT: Ok n/m. the whole VVL process is entirely mechanical and has no ecu control at all from what I read, which is a good thing. So I guess I can use any ecu as long as I can flash maps. Sigh, yet another forum I need to join. Thanks Lunar240z for pointing me to the sr20 forums.
  13. At least is on nissan truck chassie, but that 1.6L needs to be swapped IMO.
  14. Blahh. its like the eclipes up here with the supra rears. Theres a RSX with a supra rear up here also. blahh
  15. I understand from now from reading the SR20 forum. Couple of questions. Are the crank stroke the same from the DET and VVL? Because one is turbo and the other is NA. Do they make different cams for VVL heads? Will the VVL internals work with a DET crank and has this been done and is turbo charged?
  16. I wish I could go that fast without getting a ticket. highway speed limit is 65 up here (I've gone to 100 in my jeep before.hehe)
  17. You think it would adhere to ZR well? and have you tried experimenting with a coat?
  18. I know what vvl is. I guess benifits are self explanitory
  19. Ouchy. is it just the TB and the intake that was damaged? At least we know the intake can't take that much preasure lol.
