You're in Washington, right? Head up to B.C. and try Granville Island Maple Cream ale. Really good stuff. My dad and I brought home 8 six packs to last the year. There is another one I tried called R&B brewing Sun God pale ale. Best beer I've ever had, period.

My neighbor (owns his own bus repair company) ran into a guy who worked for a "patent buying" department within Chevron. He said this sort of stuff got bought up all the time. As far out as this sounds, my neighbor said they had stuff for almost perpetual motion engines and cool electronic gizmos that were 10 years ahead of their time.

There have been some worthwhile developments in finding bacteria and viruses that target only cancerous cells and not the surround normal ones. My grandfather, who has been struggling with prostate cancer, just went in to see if he was eligible for cell freezing treatments so he won't have to deal with chemo.

You should check out the Touareg with the V10 TDI. That thing is awesome. 553 lb ft of torque at 2000RPM. Im pretty sure they used a derivative of this motor at Le Mans last year. The motor made so much torque it ripped through the clutch(es).

I need help choosing a muffler for my LS1
Moridin replied to qwik240z's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
There is a guy in my area who has an LT1 swapped into his older 740 series Volvo. Its really quiet. I believe he's just using two Dynomax (or Magnaflow) 3" mufflers inline. You can barely tell its not stock, untill he really gets all over it. The oval mufflers are generally quieter than their round counterparts. At least that's been my experience with Mustangs. Oh...and the longer the muffler body, the less noisy. Magnaflow and Borla also have lifetime warranties. A good thing to remember. -
I don't think they're talking about the total distance traveled, but the distance traveled during impact. Like a car crashing into a wall. Upon impact it the back end travels X number of feet? I think that's right. Anywho, I really start getting into good college physics next semester and will know much more then.

I haven't seen it, but I heard its the Sport Compact Car USCC Hyundai with two motors. Supposed to do insane burnouts when you put the front motor in reverse and the rear in reverse.

I've been following the little series. The first two parts were not that informative for me, but this third part is awesome. I thought you would only find something like that in Grassroots Motorsports. Has anyone else been following the Honda Insight drag car build up. That has some good info too.

Anyone seen the new SCC. I know someone mentioned the ~1000HP Supras, but there's some very good info in the tech section. They talk about roll centers, how lowering the car affects that, and steering geometery. Good, good stuff. Anywho, I just thought some of you might be interested.

Summit sells an awesome 4 or 5" exhaust for those things. Friend has one on his modded truck. Sounds awesome. If its too loud, turn the muffler around and it gets much quieter (The muffler is rated for diesel use). Best of all the system is extremely cheap and better than those of BullyDog, MRP...etc. Intake, exhaust, and Comp Box (without piercing the VP wire for the injector pump) should make the truck way more drivable while getting better gas milage. Probably add about 200ft lbs. of torque too. If you are going to haul anything at all though, I suggest looking into a bigger tranny cooler and maybe an add on computer to keep the temps down. As I understand it, the stock computer allows the trannies to slip the torque converter and temps skyrocket. There are a bunch of other things too. I'll give you the number of a guy out here, that could help you out (That is, of course, if you need it). Name is Adam Winslet and owns a company called Winspeed Diesel. Have you joined any diesel forums yet? Congratulations on your purchase.

The team I worked for last year took 3rd in class at their first showing this year...WOOO!!! And those Vette's are awesome. The Aston's put up a hell of a fight though. I wish Ford would get the Ford GT and their Mustang involved again. That would be great for their company. Same goes for Nissan, Toyota, and many other manufacturers. With the demise of Group C, it has just been Audi for several years. At least Porsche is getting involved with the prototype stuff again with Penske. Oh...and too bad Dyson couldn't go. They always put up a hell of a fight with the Audis throughout the year. I think they would have done better than the Pescaloro's and maybe even won the thing (especially with the loss of 100HP and 50kg weight gain). Anyway, I think Michelin did the right thing. I worked with (actually, along side. I didn't do much more than get tires mounted, and make sure the tires and wheels were ready for track time) Michelin tire engineers in the ALMS and they were always concerced about the construction of the tire as it pertains to the safety of the cars. Any tire failures (very few) were taken back right away to be analyzed. I even had the chance to meet and work with one of the engineers who worked with McLaren or Williams (can't remember) and their Michelin tire development. Extremely bright people. Knowing what I know about them, and the little I know about Eccelstone and the FIA, there should have been some sort of agreement to make things safe and fair. The U.S. has a huge market for racing (mainly soaked up by NASCAR), but its there and with this debacle, I believe F1 has pushed themselves out of any share, period. Maybe, just maybe, IRL will dissolve with Chevy pulling out, and more than likely Toyota too in the next few years, we will see a CART step it up again. F1 engine developement is extremely expensive. I believe CART owns Cosworth too...maybe a multi-manufacturer Cosworth backed engine program could do something. Just my 2 cents.

Best Fitting, Best Looking, Best Performing Cooling Fan?
Moridin replied to mas8230's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Permacool High performance electric fans. Both their 14" and 16" ones pull 2950 cfm. Granted, they don't have a shroud, but if you can weld (or have access to a welder), then one can be made. The 14" fan is the one I have for a my Honda. I'm going to make some brackets and shroud, because I don't want to fork over $150 for both and then have "fix" them to make it work. They also don't come with their own thermostat, so something has to be made up. You can get kits for that too. Anywho...just an idea. Edit...Here's the link to their website: http://www.permacool.com/Catalog/Cat_page16.html 16" fan: http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=Permacool&x=0&y=0&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp 14" fan: http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=Permacool&x=0&y=0&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp -
Billet Ali Rear Subframe
Moridin replied to BlackBeaut's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Why not use delrin for bushing material. NVH (hope I'm using this term correctly) is generally marginally more than polyurethane (from what I've read and heard), but there is far less compliance and there is far less friction. Plus, you can get delrin stock for a decent price at TAP plastics I believe, and mill it easily to your application. -
My friend recently bought a 2500 Diesel. Both the 12 valve and 24 valves are amazing. With injectors, 5" exhaust, intake, and a drag comp, my friend probably has at least 700 ft lbs of torque on tap. With a new turbo that will be above 800. That is a very nice job on the truck Tim. Did you do that in your garage or just outside?

Skunk2 makes a matched system for their shifter setup for Hondas. I have the short shifter, but haven't bought a 440? gram matched shift knob yet. Comparing mine (short shifter and stock knob) vs. the matched system (both shifter and right knob), the matched one was a bit smoother and more positive. Makes some sense to me, because the extra weight provides more leverage (only guessing).

I'd be carefull trying to race him, I'm willing to bet some money that he has the 427 C5-R block in there. Good heads and a solid cam should put that thing close to 600 RWHP (It its NA).

The Z will be ready, with flares, for Servin' it Up 4

You can fit 315 Nitto drag radials on those tires. Tim, flare the damn thing. You're gonna need it.
