  1. Congrats on stepping up, money is the big lure for everyone but folks wearing the uniform. I've spent about a year at Al Udeid and it's amazing to see more and more contractors filling traditionally uniformed jobs, we need them.
  2. Plan some sightseeing stops along the way to break up the monotony. Tasteless tourist traps like Wall Drug (Wall SD), The Big Texan (Amarillo) and South of the Border (I-95 in SC) come to mind.
  3. DC to Montana round trip X 2 plus side trips from MT to the Oregon coast X 3. Carry a cellphone, water, extra oil, gas filter, distributor cap and rotor plus some tools and good ol' duck tape. Make sure your tires have plenty of life left in them plus you've swapped all your fluids and lubed the thing over good. It'll be a blast unless you've got back problems, it takes the jaws of life to get me out of the stock seat after about 3 hours cruising. Plan your route out carefully and use this and the other Zwebsites to line up help along the way should trouble arise.
  4. Single animal only, neighbor's shih tzu is toast, multiple in a pack, your dog is toast. They get into a "tussle", rabies shots or who knows what. They are predators but like their human counterparts they look for an easy kill. If they have to expend too much energy for what they think they're going to gain, they'll look elsewhere unless they're near starving.
  5. It's worth what someone is willing to pay for an L20 equipped car with rust and a rough respray. To me, the farther the car is from LHD and near mint condition equals another magnitude of expense over buying a US spec model. You might get more for it in Japan than the US, who knows. What do you have nvested in it and for how much are you willing to let it go for? I would put some feelers out at japanesenostalgiccar.com too. and classiczcars.com and zcar.com
  6. It won't go for what's been put into it but it looks well executed.
  7. EBay http://cgi.ebay.com/Initial-Midnight-1-6-JPN-Animation-DVD-Wangan-Midnight_W0QQitemZ110209720143QQihZ001QQcategoryZ617QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  8. Take a rust free S30 shell and convert it into a bed!
  9. The bulk of the Fairladys' I've seen in ths states were brought back by US service members. I know the military will ship a car built before '75 or '76 over and back if you're in the military and getting stationed over there. Anything newer and you begin to run into registration and emissions problems depending on where and how you're going to bring it in and register it. Not impossible, but potentially expensive and filled with a$$ pain. interesting thread on a guy who brought back an RX-7 from Okinawa. http://www.zeroyon.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8819 I think you'd be better off building your own iteration complete with triples. These things in Japan go for more than they do here because there are fewer of them around and the ones that have survived are in decent condition. That or keep up on EBay, there's usually a Fairlady or two every year, it's rare but, if it's what you want, they can be had.
  10. You'll fit, if you spend alot of time driving, you'll want to upgrade the seats.
  11. It's getting a new head (N-42), the SUs are being gone through, Toyo vented brakes, some replacement hoses/cabling on the HVAC, weatherstrip on the doors and the hatch, an R200 swap (3.9) with the new LSD and some POR-15 or Rustbullet under the battery tray.
  12. Since '86 over $20K on three separate cars. I'm trying to get it to where the current car is a reliable daily driver, $3500 later. Even told myself I'd EBay other hobby stuff to pay for it. (Brass locomotives, another expensive hobby) The car stays in the garage, all others, out in the elements. Wife only gets a vote on when the kids can come ride in it. (She really loves me!)
  13. Got an update or are the holidays getting in the way?
  14. Well, that was an education, sounds like I'll be avoiding HID. I'm missing classiczcars too, really curious to know what's up.
  15. Check out Zsondabrain's wiring harness over at classiczcars.com. Made a big difference for my tired old setup.
  16. I would say you're paying for a Sunbelt stroker in the same manner you would pay less for a Rebello stroker. If you want to go shadetree then you get a shadetree stroker...with either option it may last a million miles or it may last 2K...you won't know until you take the plunge. Call Goza or call John Williams or Balanced Performance and see what other options you have.
  17. Sunbelt has a reputation of being an exceptional builder along with Rebello. See what Rebello wants or call John Williams and see if he recommends an alternative then make your call.
  18. Looks like what I would expect a quote from Sunbelt to be like.
  19. I wonder what a set of jag and/or land rover 50mm carbs would go for on EBay? Maybe Ebay the ones you have to purchase a set of triples? The general consensus I've seen here and elsewhere is a Ztherapy'd set of hitachis is an improvement over tuned stock but triples are 20-40 horsepower depending on what you get (40-44-45mm) provided you can tune them.
  20. I'm at the Deid right now, not nearly as exciting. Grab yer helmet and scream incoming!
  21. Go here www.zeroyon.com and register. Here's a map from FDokinawa's sig block to most auto related places on the island. http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&oe=UTF-8&t=h&om=1&msa=0&msid=105107005773325569974.00043c6351a88f56366b4&hl=en&z=11 You might be able to hook up with some of these guys and they can show you around if you post your situation.
  22. The base is in the middle of an older part of Bossier City, the community went to hell but once you make it to I-20 things improve significantly. Lots of new housing developments going up East of the base off the freeway, there's riverboat gambling and horseracing in Shreveport and it's 3 hours to Dallas or New Orleans. Lots of bugs, heat and humidity but everyone seemed friendly.
  23. Download Google Earth and ask it to take you to Tomisato Japan. Once there an option will be to show you where RE Amemiya is, select that then select the option to take the "Auto Enthusiasts tour of Japan". There are several Up Garage locations around Atsugi/Yokosuka and Yokota not to mention all the other places that are listed. If that doesn't work go here and register http://www.hipertekspeed.net/ they'll help you find whatever you're looking for.
  24. Saw it on EBay too, looks like a steal! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Series-1-Datsun-240Z-Carbed-L28-5-Speed_W0QQitemZ300176983306QQihZ020QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  25. They were driving a Dodge for crissake, can't be flickin' someone too much crap, did you see the wing on their car? If you've seen Mr Brooks, can you imagine what Marshall tells the 350 guy when he gets up in the morning?
