  1. The new post 9-11 GI Bill is a great deal, I'm giving mine to my kids and still can't believe the gov't is going to pay for kids of veterans to go to school. If you do join, make sure you know what you're getting yourself in to. You might also get the chance to be stationed in Japan which is a great opportunity for folks who like Japanese cars.
  2. Had my '73 since 2001 and an S30 since '86.
  3. Their knowledge of geography is on par with the average American high school graduate, not an excuse, just an observation.
  4. Post a trip report when you make it in, you're bound to have some stories, hopefully only about how hot it was.
  5. Those 53's are getting old old old.
  6. Looks like rice meets Down's syndrome.
  7. There's an SCCA regional race at Road Atlanta, it'd be about a 3 hour drive from Montgomery. http://www.roadatlanta.com/event_detail.lasso?-Token.eventfile=ev_scca.lasso&-Token.id=7
  8. You're in luck, John Williams' shop is in Sugar Hill, 770-806-2926. He builds and drives Z race cars and has done a lot of restoration work as well.
  9. Jon if I hadn't picked up a Kimber SIS Pro at the gunshow two weeks ago I probaby would have pulled the trigger on the carbs. If things calm down this Fall I may be emailing you.
  10. Is the VIN a US VIN? If it is, it shouldn't be a problem, the car originated here to begin with...right?
  11. Spend the $100 or whatever it is on the Ztherapy SU rebuild kit(s), money well spent.
  12. So Bart where are you? I may be moving to Geilenkirchen near Brunssum this summer.
  13. I had a set of the downdrafts and would recommend the SUs. If it's the sidedrafts, that's another story.
  14. You might want to check the GA Z club website. the two places I can think of you might want to see are both 30 minutes from downtown.
  15. Top Secret in Chiba between Narita and Tokyo. RE Amemiya is really close to Narita if you're a rotary head. There's a retro car sales place right off the expressway about 10NM SW of Narita when you're headed in to Tokyo. I ended up doing a search on Google Earth for RE Amemiya under businesses and got the option to select "A car enthusiasts guide to Japan" which had shops, tracks, UpGarage locations highlighted. You might give that a try.
  16. Saw that car at Road Atlanta a couple of years ago, really nice, it may have been for sale then.
  17. I tore my engine apart, cleaned it up, wrapped garbage bags around it and labeled it "lawn ornament(s)" that the movers ended up shipping for me. Probably better to put it in the car though.
  18. In the fall of 1864, Massachusetts Gov. John A. Andrew wrote to President Abraham Lincoln asking him to express condolences to Mrs. Lydia Bixby, a widow who was believed to have lost five sons during the Civil War. Lincoln's letter to her was printed by the Boston Evening Transcript. Later it was revealed that only two of Mrs. Bixby's five sons died in battle (Charles and Oliver). One deserted the army, one was honorably discharged, and another deserted or died a prisoner of war. Dear Madam, -- I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Yours, very sincerely and respectfully, A. Lincoln Despite what the press will have you believe no President ever faced so great a challenge as Abraham Lincoln. His rocky relationship with senior leadership of the Army during the Civil War combined with horrific casualties make the Civil War the costliest war ever fought by Americans in terms of human lives sacrificed. Lincoln once quipped "if there is a hell on earth, I am in it". We face significant challenges in the days months and years to come, I hope we never forget where we came from and those who came before us.

  22. They do lew levels around the panhandle of FL and I once saw an awesome sight of an HC-130 refueling a pair of helos while flying down the valley just north of Durango. For the Spec Ops birds, manpads and AAA are more of a threat than tactical or strategic SAMs.
