  1. Transcendental racing's Z car, I saw it at the Mitty, an impeccable car.
  2. I'm very sorry to hear of your friends loss. They will be in my prayers. It's of little consolation, but I've rarely seen anything so eloquent as Abraham Lincoln's letter to a woman who lost 5 sons in a Civil War battle. Mrs. Bixby, Boston, Massachusetts: DEAR MADAM: I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant-General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. Yours very sincerely and respectfully, Abraham Lincoln.
  3. I would loved to have been at this dyno day. http://www.geocities.jp/kuni_s30z/lgata8.html
  4. Try here http://jaxed.com/cgi-bin/ms.cgi?veh=datsun+240z&state=&fil=&ys=&ye=&submit=go This one may not be a bad deal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-240Z-NR-1972-DATSUN-240Z-SCCA-ITS-RACE-CAR-NOT-260Z-280Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ290221677337QQsspagenameZRSSQ3aBQ3aSRCHQ3aUSQ3a101
  5. Have you read through this thread yet? http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=93343 It might be a good place to start.
  6. Have you thought about just polishing as much of the interior of the carb instead of porting it? I thought I had read somewhere where that had been done.
  7. Every time I put some money into it to upgrade or improve the performance something else will break. It isn't a DD anymore but I do get tired of it since I've got competing interests for money. Unfortunately, I've had one for so long and I want something outside of the family experience to be my mid-life crisis lifeboat that I hang on to it.
  8. So how did the floorpans, rockers and battery tray look? My impression is if there's hidden rust, it'll cost more than getting the engine back up to par. What's the black round how-ya-doin' up near the hood latch, that's not stock as well as is some kind of wiring rig on the passenger's side front wheel well. (Non-stock wiring scares the hell out of me) It does look like though an afternoon washing it inside and out and degreasing the engine compartment would work wonders on it.
  9. They could have signed you up for subscription to Hustler or something like that.
  10. Congrats, I saw that listed and it looked like a good place to start. Post some pictures of what you find while you're cleaning it up.
  11. Use the prospective new boyfriend's intestine to line the diff cover.
  12. What some people won't do to get that last copy of Brokeback Mountain.
  13. That picture is incredible. We were spared the tornados but got a lot of rain down south.
  14. Your definition of a good starter vehicle on the East coast is in a direct relationship with your wallet. There are good cars on the East coast but they are more expensive than comparable cars from the SW or West coast because of rust. You may not be paying to ship the car, you may be paying for the convenience of having a rust free restorable shell on the East coast.
  15. I don't know the lift and duration of the cam, I'll have to do some homework on that. The dream 44 setup I'm looking at is the comp one on Wolf Creek Racing, it'll be 6 months to scrounge the money together though.
  16. I'll start looking for a set of 44s, then weight the cost which always seems to be the long pole in the tent. From just about everything I've read a set of triples is like bolting on between 20-40hp, I was curious if the big bores would get me half of that. 20-40 would put me right around 200hp which is my goal with not too much else in engine mods.
  17. I'm finishing a replacement N42 head plus a retune of my existing SUs. Got a great deal on another set of SUs plus intake and am debating having them bored out and dropped on my refreshed top end motor. I'm really debating breaking down and getting a set of triple Mikunis but the bored out SUs seem like a better deal in terms of cost, reliability and ease of tunability. Engine is an L-28 with an N42 head, a Schneider street cam and a header. It's a street car with an occasional run to the track for HPDE/autocross. Anyone have big bore SUs? How do you like them? Any tricks to tuning them? Should I have the machine work done then buy the Ztherapy rebuild kit or vice-versa? Any needle recommendations? I've searched and found alot that talks around them but not necessarily to them or what was done to mod them.
  18. Read the first post in this thread, it names a US shipper that may be able to help you out. http://www.zeroyon.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8819
  19. There's money to be made for at least another year, maybe two tops but after that, who knows. If you jumped on this in '03-'04 and hung on, you could be sitting on some serious money depending on what your "trade" was.
  20. That's an unbelieveably clean car to be in Alaska, I wonder how long it's been there...you got a steal.
