  1. More offten , the originals ( classics and collectors ) will cost more than customs . When you start to customizing your car to your taste , others might not like what you've done . Everyone has his own imaginations ( crazy ideas ) . Me , i like custom . But do it with a minimum cost . I like to accomplish the same goals with minimum labor and cost . Which is doable with a little thinking and patience , and a little leg work . LOL .
  2. Damn ! That's a lot of custom work for 3K . I like the front bumper setup but not the rest of the car .
  3. Still have that 83 turbo motor with your name on it , i sold the T5 trans. . LOL . And MSA Type 2 body kit . Good to see you at it again .
  4. If your AAC valve is capped off , what controls the idle ? What problem do you have with start up , long crank ?
  5. If you have problem with cold start , check your air regulator valve to see if it opens when cold and closes when hot ( or power applies to it ) .
  6. Got mine from Copart auction . It's hard to find one with low mileage and cheap . Gotta have patience , my friend . Here's a pic. . and i haven't sold the wheels/tires and full length ceramic coated headers yet . I got lucky . But we all can do it , just have patience .
  7. As i stated earlier , the cost of your project is base on your abilities and tools . You can source out a donor F body for around 2k , got mine for $1900 w/ 60k miles ( $2500 after tax , fees , shipping ) . Was able to sell the leftover ( 2002 Z28 ) for $750 and $850 for the Z motor/trans. . And still have some leftover ( worth about $500 ) . And i used a lot of parts from the Z28 which saved **** load of money . Total cost on my conversion probably way less than 3k . Now , this is where the fun ( upgrades on the car ) begins . Donor car is the best to go , IMO .
  8. Need info on your car . What's missing other no fuel prime ? Getting any spark or injector pulse ?
  9. The cost of converting to LS depends on your abilities and tools . Mine was way less than 5K , maybe 3K . Me and Matt did everything ourselves . IMO , the best way and the cheapest is to start with a donor car ( F body ) .
  10. Have you replaced the coil ? It's not a good idea to leave key turn to on position without the engine running for too long . I had a Honda came in my shop for a no start . She accidentally left the key on over night , it took out the ECM . Have seen coils go bad or cooked like yours when key left on too long , that energy has to go somewhere ( spark ) . That's why ignition switch has two positions , acc. and on .
  11. Is that for memeber's rate ? And do you have to be a member ?
  12. I went cheap on mine . Using the Z airbox ( got rid of that ugly blue . LOL ) , it already has a K&N filter . Didn't have to enlarge the hole .
  13. Living in NC , i would say that all the sensors are necessary for cold start . EVAP system is necessary if your city or county check for emission . Then again , the Z is old enough it might be exempt . Check your local laws . As far as starting problem , check all your basics . Engine requires compression , fuel , spark and of course , correct timing ( mechanical and electrical ) .
  14. You got a great deal on the Z , can't get any cheaper than that . Good luck with your build . 20k should get your car looks and runs good .
  15. It's going to look good with flares . I bought them last year but haven't installed them . The wheels that i just bought look ok without flares . Looking foward to your flares installation . I'll do them later when they come with Rota RKR in flat back with ZG flare offset .
  16. Working on a Dodge truck at the moment . I took a look at the turbo and said to myself this would be a good turbo to use , It has built in waste gate . Then i pulled the intake boot off to check the comp. wheel , it's only half the size of the 76mm turbo . My goal is to get somewhere 650-700 hp out of a 6.0 motor . As posted before , already bought LS3 heads and intake . It's going to be a slow build , need to get a solid 8.8 rearend installed in my ZXT first .
  17. Both turbo and throttle body are made in China . I did compare On3 turbo and China turbo , they look almost identical ( about $75 different for 76mm turbo ) . Throttle body housing looks great but the blade is not so good , not 100% centered . Might have idling issue . Only $100 for 102mm . Going to try and fix it .
  18. Has anyone ran Ebay turbo and/or throttle body on the LS ? Need some feedback .
  19. I'm parting out my 83 ZXT motor . Just woundered what's the p90a head worth , good condition ? Is it rare ?
  20. The sleeves on the floor , are they wheel bearing spacers ? If so , did you forget to install them when you replaced the bearings ? LOL .
