  1. Sounds like my daily commute here. How do people get a license driving like this? I like the camera idea. I'll have to do that when I get my car back up. You should see the stupidity I run into on my Harley. If it wasn't vibrating constantly I'd hook the camera up to that.
  2. Are you actually having to press the races back in? I had a worn hub on my ZX that caused similar problems. I pulled it to replace the bearings and races and the races just fell out. Even the new ones dropped in with no force.
  3. Get a 15 from the parts store. If that's all it is then it's a cheap fix. If not you've eliminated one piece.
  4. That's what we're here for. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
  5. You're kidding right? No respectable auto shop will do an engine swap like that. You're better off using all that leave you're saving up right now and doing the swap yourself.
  6. Slow down haus...No need for the bold lettering. By the looks of the location that port will be a ported vacuum port and yes you use that for the dist.
  7. He probably didn't even notice. Most of those guys figure if they pull one length on you they've won the whole thing. Fortunately we Z fanantics know it take more than one or two gears to win a race (unless it's a drag race with a two speed super glide)
  8. If you are getting spark your VB is fine. Make sure you are getting spark on all cylinders. I would also recommend pulling the fuel rail and testing the injectors to make sure they're all firing.
  9. It doesn't advance it just when the engine is cold. The stock vacuum port for the dist is a ported vacuum line that only applies vacuum when the throttle is cracked open so it advances as the engine RPMs increase. Yes you need that.
  10. Ok I got mine working before I wiped out my cam. R52 and R56 are turned fully counter clockwise as specified in the assembly instructions. Predictive algorithm I have mine set at default alpha beta gamma with no problems. Advance offset (aka trigger offset) on mine ended up being 72.5, but it seems others have some up with different numbers. The rest I'm not real sure as I don't have my MS in front of me to check.
  11. Got my reply.. thew 325' is @.006 250 @ .050 sorry for the confussion.
  12. I emailed the guy back. I thought that duration sounded way out there, but I'm no expert on that stuff. Still learning.
  13. It sounded a bit odd to me as well, but I don't think Delta Cams is going throw numbers out there just to see what kind of bite they get. 325@ 475 should be pretty damned torquey, but with that kind of valve overlap the idle will have to be punched up to around 1k or more.
  14. Tony, I got a response, all measurements are taken at .050". Sounds like this is the cam grind for me. hope that makes you feel a little better.
  15. I got a 351W block, .030 pistons and crank for free. I never considered a Ford V8 before, but now that I have two for free (still have to pickup the second one) I might as well start looking into options with them. I know I want to rebuild one and put it in my 89 Ford Ranger, but the other I'm thinking needs to find it's home in a Z for fun. How hard is it to drop one of these in? Pics!
  16. So where's the Ford guys? What's involved in fitting a SBF V8 into a ZX?
  17. No need to unhook it if you have a laptop or computer close enough to connect to it while it's in the car (which you should if you're going to tune it). Just reload the firmware and .msq and try again. You could have corrupted the firmware somehow. It happens.
  18. My father never had any of what would be considered "THE" talks with me. He pretty much stayed out of my life even though we lived in the same house. I'm a little mixed on the don't embarrass by asking or talking about it views. In some ways I wish my father had talked to me about these things when I was younger, but then on the other hand I had a bit of a chip on my shoulder growing up and probably would have felt insulted by it. Of course that chip was probably due to his lack of interest in me or anything I did. One thing I know for sure is, I know I would have been much more comfortable talking to him on a man to man level about women. More along the lines of hey what do I think of this or that or maybe some guidance on how to act with girlfriends. To be completely honest, I've never been good with women. I'm very shy at first and I really have no idea what to say to someone I don't know. I didn't even have a girlfriend until I was 16 and she came at me (guess that supports the whole women are so aggressive men don't have a chance quote). It's obvious he's in the stage that you need to talk to him, but the way you approach it will make all the difference as to whether he comes to you when he needs advice or pulls completely away. Treat him like your equal, as though he's a friend you've known all your life, lost contact with and are just getting back together and finding out what each other has been up to. Dad's can be very threatening to young men that are trying to do their own thing. Especially if there's a control issue there or maybe an embarrassing moment that sticks in his head. In any event this is the time to get involved in his life more than ever. Not invasive, just a friend on the outside looking in. I think back on my life and I really wish my father was around more when I was growing up. To this day I still can't talk to him about anything of a personal nature. most of our conversations consist of "how's work, anything new? Ok have a good day." Just some food for thought.
  19. cygnus is spot on. machine oils are the best for storage as they won't break down or run off. After coating them bag them up in some heavy plastic to keep moisture out.
  20. That car is just...WOW... I hope to God when I repaint my 77 it comes out that clean.
