  1. Ok, as many of you know I'm in need of getting another cam in my car since I wiped out my MSA Stage II (probably a good thing in the end). I'm looking at regrinds given the indestructible nature of the Nissan cams. I've gotten one response back in my inquiries and it's from Delta Cams. He's offering a regrind at $65 with 260 duration and .460 lift (approximate, he said his books at his shop). That sounds a bit small doesn't it? I'm looking to get a nice wide power band and good low end torque, is this going to wake my engine up or leave me wishing I'd gone bigger?
  2. That sort of stuff is already done on handicapped equipped vehicles.
  3. What are using for a trigger?
  4. True, especially with the kid on the way.
  5. Yeah, that can be punishment right there. Especially if it decides not to work right off the bat.
  6. Just from a general wiring point of view, I would surmise that your two grays are the heater, the black is ground the and tan is the sensor. You could always use a multimeter and ohm out the wires to see which ones are the heater. They will more than likely read little to no resistance as it's a heating coil. Usually those coils will increase resistance as it heats.
  7. I hate to break this to you, but...The Z isn't going to be anymore expensive to play with than the Mustang. In my experience Z parts are pretty cheap and comparable to chevy's and ford's. What does your Z need to be drivable? If it's already running a driving then you really don't have a lot more to do aside from starting the upgrades. Anyway you cut it a project is expensive, regardless of who made it originally the car will cost ya'.
  8. Individual slides are a simple design that only really requires (on the most basic level) getting all the throttle plates to open and close at the exact same time. Everything else, if you have the equipment, is easily done. Not sure about laser based oxygen sensors, but I know GM has been using intake oxygen sensors for years. The 98 S10 and Blazers have two intake oxygen sensors and two exhaust. It meters the fuel according to the amount of oxygen coming and going out. I assume it's for better management in that instead of calculating a certain point in exhaust it calculates a more specific ratio of intake oxygen to exhaust oxygen for better AFR targeting. I would think the best possible option for a mechanical engineering project, if you want to incorporate the Z, would be to build a better super charger setup using MPI and some sort of screw style super charger with a custom intake to mount it to. Jim Cook Racing has a nice kit, but I believe some of the guys have gotten quotes and it's prohibitively expensive. Here's the link: http://www.jimcookracing.com/catalog/page24.html It's also a draw through TBI setup so that sorta blows...No pun intended.
  9. Probably a little more doable, but for a couple years Chevy made a 283ci V8.
  10. You could always ask this guy: http://www.jrponline.com/gallery/datsun.asp He has one if you look at his engine specs.
  11. I had a head gasket on a Toyota 20R blow doing 50 on a back road, just cruising nothing spectacular. That sounded like a canon went off. Wild life went running for miles.
  12. I think I've seen one guy on here from SA and I can't for the life of me remember his name.
  13. Ahhh, I had this problem. Your plugs are fuel fouled bad enough that they won't fire. Clean them and try again, this time pull the fuses on the injectors until you get the timing straight, that's what I had to do.
  14. Sounds like two things. A vacuum leak and you AC idle valve isn't working. Could be related.
  15. This is what the classifieds section is for. You know, the one labeled BuySellTrade? For $3000 it better be in damned good shape.
  16. Good Lord, talk about digging up old posts.
  17. Good tip. I thought 555 numbers were simply fake numbers used in hollywood movies.
  18. No she's not and to top it off her air bags have already deployed.
  19. How is your ignition setup?
  20. I'm running N/A and the cam profiles are different between turbo and non. Anyone know what the difference would be?
  21. Wait, you have a turbo don't you?
