  1. Thanks a bunch for the reply guys! I will most likley go with the Kevco pan for 77 bucks!
  2. I currently have the stock pan on and am contemplating goes to an aftermarket pan with a windage tray . I was looking at the summit brand one that 7 quarts and you can get a matching HV pump and extended pick up already tacked on? Anyone have any brands that work with the JTR swap??????
  3. My 350 in the Z is about 45 to 50 psi when the motor is cold but once I get driving around and reach op temp it goes way down. I am talking 10 to 15 psi at 750rpm at stoplights. As soon as I touch the gas it jumps back up but it just seems to low to me. I am pulling the motor/tranny to put the stall converter in and was wondering while I have it out if I should put a HV pump in it???
  4. I run the comp cams hyd 286 magnum in my 350 240 z. Its a pretty sweet cam amd has a nice power band. Next cam however with most likely be the 294/525 comp solid when I do the 397 stroker
  5. Vac advance always plugged when doing total timing.
  6. My z seems to have quite a bit of wheel shimmy. The car tracks straight but the steering shakes back and forth in my hand. I have new front wheels and tires and the have been balanced. Any ideas???
  7. Thanks Tim, I am kinda thinking its the wheel bearings on the driver side. I am going to take the wheels/tires for rebalance as well. Also the tie rod ends look pretty old and crusty. maybe I am getting some slop from them????????
  8. Yeah, I looked on his web site. It did not give his bs in inches just milli offset. Thanks though
  9. Hey Pete can you tell me what your wheels backspacing is in inches on the rear of your Z? I can never figure out the millimeter thing! I am looking at some 17x8 rears with 5" bs. I have 10" coil overs. The tires were 255/45/17 that I kinda wanted to use. Do you think I can squeeze them in??? The tire had a section width of 10.3. Thanks Ron
  10. My old combo : 350 9 to 1 comp 268/454 comp cam performer intake performer 600 carb 1 5/8 long tubes mallory unilite 2.5 dual exhaust TH400 with Sat night special converter This set up was on my daily driver and it performed extremly well and was very reliable!
  11. I would run a little more cam if I were you. I would suggest Comp Cams 268 High Energy. It a great cam with good all around power in the 1500 to 5500 rpm range. Perfect for you set up. As for a converter recomendation ,I would suggest a TCI Saturday Nite special. Its stall rating is 2000 rpm . I have used both of these together and had great results! Good luck with your build up.
  12. It would not be worth it if it only makes say 5 to 10 rwhp. Especially if you already have block huggers and you exhaust is already done. It would have to be a pretty big gain in HP to throw away the cash already spent .
  13. Has anyone dynoed before and after? Going from block huggers to long tubes without any other changes?? I would love to see if it is really woth it or not???
  14. I think it looks ALL BUSINESS! I dig it.
  15. Darius, Your killin me with those crazy ideas! Most people look to your Z as the overall king of Z's. Try what we mentioned on the other post about getting the car to hook up before you go crazy and start cutting stuff up!
  16. Heavy, I would buy yourself a Holley jet kit and take you car into Ralph's Hot Rod heaven and dyno it. It is 75 bucks for 3 pulls and that includes a/f readings. This way you will truely be able to see what your motor wants for jets sizes.
  17. Mike, What about Yokohama AVS intermedites? I think they make a size of 345/50/15? Check em out!
  18. Let me know if ya need any help wrenching on the beast. I am only about an hour or so away from walnut creek. Goodluck! Ron
  19. Man, I would not flair your car . It just looks so sweet! First, I would switch to 555r yoko Drag radials in the 245/45/17 size. This will still fit, give you a little more height/and be a bit stickier. Then I would turn the boost down to a more streetable 10 psi. Should hook better and motor will live longer. Also lower the spring rate on the rear so that the car squats a little more for better weight transfer. I think theses small changes will make a big difference. z ya
  20. Jason , you hit the nail on the head with your reply. Also, I really want this car to leave HARD and with a 286/490 cam and a 2000 stall I know that I am not optimzed. I am shooting for 1.6 60 foots so I can destroy Zo6's and Vipers off the line!
  21. Well, I ordered the Hughes Performance 3000 stall coverter last nite. Hope this thing works out
  22. Dont they want 500 bucks for it????????
