  1. Grumpy, you constantly amaze me with the extent of your knowledge!
  2. It will work if you flip the rack and move it to the opposite side of the X-member... I.E., 240 has rack mounted on the front of X-member. If you flip the rack and move to the rear of the X-member it can be used in RHD application, although it would not be the same as a JDM vehicle. I am using a 240 rack in my 510, that has been flipped and mounted on the rear of the X-member. Steering arms have been swapped side to side. Steering arms may need to be heated and bent to maintain the desired ackerman.
  3. Remove the thermostat, check for heating.Make sure water pump is pumping. If you still have problem check for cold spots in radiator. It could be plugged. Replace radiator with bigger unit.
  4. There are companys that are working on EMP guns that would disable a moving vehicle! They can and will be used by police agencies to stop cars. Also, One large EMP weapon, detonated at a 300Mile altitude, will put this country into the stone age! Better keep an old "points style" distributer around!
  5. So what are your cam specs? Big cams make for low vacuum readings and high idles.
  6. you sure those are 1/4x20? I betcha they are metric!!
  7. we used a battery minder in our fire and police vehicles when I worked for the local city government. It works great!
  8. Stick with it! It will get easier in a short while. I'm smoke free for 6 Yrs., Alcohol free for 8 yrs.
  9. HeeHee! I thought I was just getting lazy. I use my "picker all the time now. If I'm in a big hurry I get my 18 yr. old son to pick it up. He says I'm a wimp, but someday I'll have the last laugh!
  10. If its stock engine it is probably a V8-60. 60 HP.
  11. 2003Z, there is something to be said for tires with a higher aspect ratio. I.E. 50,60,70 series tires
  12. I have tried to find info on restricting the oil flow to the upper end, but get 0 hits. I have tried " oil restrictors, oil restricters, oil gallery restricters, cam oil gallery restrictors,ETC..." 0 hits! What I need to know is; do I need to restrict the oil flow to my top end when building a full roller engine? I have a solid roller Howards cam, and Crower stainless full roller rockers. Should I install oil gallery restrictors? From what I've been reading I understand i dont really need a hi-vol oil pump. Standard Hipro is adequate? Thanks, John
  13. If you dont get it you are truly damaged!
  14. they should open up under load. The piston that operates them may be stuck. I have seen it several times, even on new or reman carbs. FWIW John
  15. How much trouble to get it past the inspectors?
  16. No. A sealed crankcase will always build pressure. The pressure is caused by ring leakage. If it has a vacuum it has to be caused by a leak from the intake! A minor leak may not show up if the vacuum leak is about equal to the ring leakage. But a leak that minor would probably not cause the problems you are having. This is on a SEALED crankcase! No vents, no pcv, etc. FWIW!
  17. I am using a Howards Mech. Roller cam and kit, Duration is 242@.050, lift is .567in with 1.5 rockers, LSA is 110. I will be using 1.6/1 roller rockers. Recommended seat pressure is 175# and 400# at .567 lift. I calculate that my lift, with 1.6 rockers will be .605in., so my spring pressure will be slightly higher. Question: are these excessive spring pressures to run on the street?
  18. To check for an internal vacuum leak, seal the crank case and put a vacuum gauge on it. propane works good for external leaks. Try to divert the air from the fan so that the propane is not blown around. If the enginesucks up any propane thru a leak it will speed up. Do not use starting fluid or lots of highly flammable liquids unless your fire insurance is paid up. BTDT!!
