  1. we purchased an old 240Z and took the spoiler / bumper / grill off of it and put on this 280Z. I am not sure where it came from. I do know it is fiberglass and I have repaired it several times.
  2. We went to the track two weeks ago for my brother to test his new NOS engine. Well things did not go well, seems he had a faulty rod and it came through the oil pan. Oh well.... But while we were there a guy comes by and said didn't that Z used to have a supercharger on it. We said yes and expined it was being rebuilt. He said he took a picture of it and would like us to look at it. We were excited about that , we love pictures especially of the Z Car. He pulled out an 8x10 he took and showed the beast with wheels up in the air. I f you remeber from our moveis posted on www.jnjdragracing.com it was the last race we did last year at Carolina dragway. We running a tubbed out slick red camero, and the Z got high in the air, Jerry had to let out of it and then got back in it and outran the Camero. Here is the photo. Not too bad for a stock R200 rearend. John and Jerry:)
  3. Thanks for the input guy's. I will not let it leave my possion. Unless I get my money back 1st.
  4. Hey guys, I was involved in a transaction from the internet. Purchased an intercooler from a guy, kind of a risky transaction. I sent him majority of the money plus the shipping cost and asked him to insure it. Got the intercooler, called him back to arrange for the rest of money to be send. Told them I would be sending it today. He called back and wanted it now because they were leaving town. I said no way until I get it pressure checked. Brought to my machinest he did a vaccum check 1st, did not hold vaccum. Then he did a pressure check 5lbs of air and the core had a hole in it. Called the guy, left him a message to call me about the finding etc. Never heard back from him. Checked my email and he said I was trying to scam him because he had it tested. Claims it must of been damaged in shipping. When I unpacked it, there is no way in hell it was damaged. Now he emailed me and said he called UPS and they will be sending an agen out to pick it up for inspection. Now for my question: If I release it to UPS for inspection, after they are through do I get it back? Do I get the insurance money since I paid for it? My problem is I do not want the insurance money if any or the intercooler to be shipped back to him with out getting my money back. Has anyone on this site had dealings with UPS and how do they handle this? Thanks.... John
  5. Well he emailed me back and said he contacted UPS and they will be sending someone to pick it up for inspection. Problem: I am not sure I am going to release it. I paid for the insurance / shipping in adavance. No way in hell is he going to get the insurance money and intercooler back and I get stuck. Has anyone ever gone through this with UPS before? How does it work. If they find fault in shipping or not, does the package come back to me? John
  6. Thanks for the offer, he did not return my call lastnight, but he did send me an email stating I was trying to pull a fast one on him. He said he had it pressure tested at a boat shop and it was fine. Well I can not figure how the core could get a leak from shipping. I told him I would gladly return it for a full refund minus shipping. But I want the money back 1st. John
  7. Well the intercooler came in. Guess what? Brought it to the machine shop to have it pressure tested and the inter core is leaking. Well I called them with the findings wanting my money back, probably will not hear back from them. They surely will not get the rest of the money owed by me. Just goes to show you, can't trust people anymore. The guy said he had it pressure tested, yeah right. It just dosen't develop a leak from shipping, not the way it was packaged. Word from the wise now, do not trust people anymore. John PS: a new core is $800.00 dollars. What makes it even worse for me, it really is not the loss of money, money can be replaced. But it was from another drag racer, he races boats but damn I thought drag racers kinda look out for each other. That is what hurts the most. Maybe I can find a good radiator shop that can fix the core, it looks like a heater core kinda. I will disasemble tomorrow night. Thought I would give the guy a chance to redeem himself.
  8. Best 60' to date is a 1.32, our car on stock haftshafts went a 9.21@153mph, (we are now using 300Z Turbo CV's) we are hoping to go in the 8's in March at the DNI race at Silverdollar raceway in Renolds, G.A. or mid 5's in the 1/8th. I wish you could come to the race,we all would love to see your car in action. Jerry
  9. Thanks, but it is owns it way 30lbs of something. Hope it is not bricks I will find out Monday.
  10. Rockinham we ran in the 9.40 class, they did not pick our class. Bristol we slowed it up and ran in the 10.0 class and of course they did not pick our class.
  11. Be safe, Hope for a safe journey, safe deployment and a safe return home. I salute you sir...... John
  12. Well mine is one day I was unbolting a header on a a camaro, it was cold as hell that one winter day and there was snow on the ground. While I am unbolting the header I place my hand on the valve cover did not notice the alternator (big red battery wire) terminal did not have the rubber cap on it, my left hand , wedding band finger happen to short it to the valve cover. All I know is all of sudden I had tremendous pain like you cut on a light switch. Luckily there was snow on the ground and I was able to place my hand in it to cool things down. After it was over my wedding ring had melted in places and today I still have a burned in band around my wedding finger even though I am no longer married. John PS: I have another one which probably anyone who welds knows. I was under a car laying on my back doing some welding. All of a sudden there was cracking and popping and pain in my ear where a bead had fallen off and went into my ear. I about killed myself trying to get out from under the car.
  13. The part is a Intercooler for my 6-71 supercahrger called a superchiller. They run around $1800.00 new and are intended for marine use, but you can use this for dragracing. You just set them up like the turbo guy's do with a water / ice tank and pump cold water through it. They are suppose to lower the intake charge tempature. You know boost = heat which leads to detonation which = loss of horsepower. They state it is usually a 30% gain on HP. Plus it was a good deal, I just hope it come through. After the DNI shootout in March. I plan on selling my complete setup - minus the supercharger. I plan on keeping it but will sell my Carbs, fuel system complete with fuel pumps, regualtor's and braided fuel line, blower scoop, NOS fogger system, intercooler, linkage etc as a whole kit. Then I plan on switching to alky using Mechanical fuel injection with a birdcatcher hat etc. This engine will go into another Z project we have. John
  14. Well we fianlly came to some what of an aggreement, I western unioned transfer funds to them for half of the amount plus shipping. They said they would ship it and email me a tracking number tonight. Not how I wanted it to go, but it was a good deal on the part and I could not pass it up. Hopefully they are honest people. I guess I will find out real soon. Thanks for the help guy's...... PS: Still might need help going bounty hunting for me.... John

I need it checked out, possible can paypal them the funds to pay for it and have the member of this board to ship it to me, it is shippable by ups. I will pay you for your time / gas. Please give me a call at 803.600.1754 before 6:00pm eastern time or at 803.951.3257 after 6:00pm. Thanks John....
  16. Great run, enjoyed the video. Looks like it stumbled a little coming out of the hole. But if you are running street tires that could be a good thing. John
  17. Damn Wayne, Hope you don't drop a wrench, it would be hard to find / get to. Looking good, can't wait to see it in person. looking damn good....... John
  18. Hey tx260z, My brother Jerry just built his nos motor a 400 sbc. He brought it to the track in the z and ran pretty good times. He going to take it to the dyno next week to do a good tune on it. He is running a solid roller nitrous cam, and dart iron eagle heads. He is getting it tuned on the chassis dyno (HP) and times on the engine to sell it to fund his turbo engine build. If you have not bought the other 400 yet I would wait and talk to him. He will be selling the engine complete carb to oil pan. Probably a good deal too, and it will already be tuned. John
  19. I would call Jon Phillips, he is the nitrous guru. I think his screen name here is 1quickz. Retarding timing is usually 2 degrees for every 50HP shot, so with a 100 shot it would be 4 degress retard in timing. You sure are getting a lot of fancy stuff. The progressive controller is a good thing I would highly reccomend it. Call Jon Phillips, he is the man.... John
  20. Looks good? I think it LOOKS GREAT!!!! Keep up the good work. Jerry
  21. I would have to agree with Deja, man it looks good. Can't wait to see it in person. John
  22. If you are going to run a 6-71 or higher, you will want to run a crank hub instead of a balancer. Crank hubs are outfitted with two keyways. The stock one and another 180 degrees. John
  23. Just an idea, it has happened to me. Check the valve adjustment. If it is to tight it will run fine cold until the engine warms up then the heat will expand the valve clearence and if it is already to tight it will make it worse. I would loosen them up about 3/4 of a turn assuming they are hydraulic stock lifters. Give it a try...... John
  24. Grumpy, don't feel to bad. I have done the same thing before. Now when ever I chop up hot peppers I am wearing my latex gloves thet I use in the shop. I t avoids all the mistakes, even the pepper juice under the finger nails. John
  25. Okay I gave up, went with another shopping list. Maybe after Christmas they will be more around. Thanks for the help.... John
