Mike, I hope everything is going well.I thought your were already running a 76mm turbo? How is your car running? When you had your roll cage certified did you have to make any changes? John and I are going to start our new cage over the Holidays. I ordered a 12 point cage from Comp Engineering, and are looking for any advice you could offer. Thanks Jerry -

Had to do it!! Twin Turbo 454/240Z :o)
jnjdragracing replied to rytherwr's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Wayne, I have been talking with Chris about the turbo setup, I am planning on running the twin setup for now, but that might change. The big turbo is a 76mm where the small one seems to be a 55mm. Chris's mustang was running a single 88 mm turbo and has been 8.o's with the car at required weight for the Drag Radial class, I think it is 3400#. I will be taking the block I am using for the turbo to the machine shop on Tuesday, and I hope he will be finished with my heads for the NOS motor, so I can finish putting that motor together and try it in the Z car. Keep me and John posted on your progress. Jerry -

28X9 M&T on a 15X7"?
jnjdragracing replied to JustinOlson's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Yes we run 15x7 inch rims with a 4.5 inch back spacing....... So far they have been good for us, a 9.21 in the 1/4 mile. We do want to run 15x8 with the same back spacing one day, but have other things to fix first. -

jnjdragracing replied to a topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
Fords usually have an oil slinger, not a small block 350 chevy. John ps. Make sure timing cover is not pressed out, where you over tighten it. -
oil leak on new crate motor (350)front main
jnjdragracing replied to a topic in Trouble Shooting / General Engine
If you buy just an oil pan gasket kit, it should come with a cork oil pan gasket 2 halves and the black seals. One is thin, one is thick and then another one for the rear of the oil pan. I know felpro gaskets have it. John -
Good info, I have always used the 6011 rod, why because this rod was giving to me when I 1st started welding and I have always used it. I will have to try the 7018. Thanks again GrumpVette for the information. John

Looking for a 350 block 4 bolt main
jnjdragracing replied to jnjdragracing's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Yes I have checked all local places, just no one is selling them or they are getting harder to find. Did find one in Mrytle Beach SC for $200.00 virgin block, so I will get it as a spare and run the nascar gm block for now. Thanks for the help.... I was going to buy a new block from performance GM, but I think the metal the are cast from is not as good as the older seasoned blocks. John -
355sbc witha bds supercharger
jnjdragracing replied to cavimandan's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Hmmmmm as well, Pictures would help. Did you tell the guy what your intentions were for the engine? What kind of warranty did you get. Should be interesting...... Not sure about the turbo 350 trans, it is going to be hard to hook up and I can imagine alot of parts breakage due to the low 1st gear. John -

Hello Wayne, The camshaft selection, well since I tore mine up I called all the camshaft people and found that CompCams 1-800-999-0853 ext 516 Name of tech is Brock was the most helpful. I bought my new solid roller billet cam from BDS since they are the blower people. The only thing I could not get done was the 4/7 swap using BDS because they use Isky cams and my particular grind was not Molded yet for the 4/7 swap. I would call Brock above and chew the fat with him, very nice and knowledgable guy. Then if it is a Turbo cam you want then talk to the turbo people after talking to Brock. If it is a NOS cam then get it from CompCams. My dealings were a NOS cam is almost identical to a Supercharger / Turbo cam except for the centerline. Comp cams reccomended a 114 and BDS said a 110 centerline because it helps cool the blower? My new cam specs are as follows, they classify it as a stage 5, in a 1 - 5 scale. 318 intake 322 exhaust ( @50 is 274/285 ) 672 / 672 lift with 1.6 rockers. Comp Cams specs were 258 intake / 270 exhaust @50 and 672 / 672 lift with 1.6 rockers and center line of 114. Hope this helps you. John -

Wayne , my turbo headers came in on 10-21-07, for the tt setup, and today I found another turbo it is a MONSTER I am waiting for info from the Turbo people ,best I can tell it is a 88mm, Yea Baby. I already have a turbo cam thanks to John, I have my pistons, block, and heads, I hope to get the block to the machine shop next week. Rip really helped me out(THANKS RIP). He hooked me up with two Holset tubos,50mm BOV, and a air to water intercooler. It will be middle to late next year before it goes into the car. I hope sooner but who knows.I need to give a shout out to Turbo meister for giving me some great info. Jerry -

Yeap, no rummor it will happen. Jerry will be building a twin turbo charged sbc very soon, thanks to Rip. The 6-71 supercharged sbc will be going in the all tube chassis Z when Jerry gets it ready, probably the end of next year. Right now he has his NOS motor built and should be doing some testing in a week ot two, until I get the supercharged engine back together then the new roll bar gets installed, then certified etc..... Have to get it ready for DNI. John -

Looking for a 350 block 4 bolt main
jnjdragracing replied to jnjdragracing's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I have searched the carolina trader and ebay. Found one on ebay but talked to GrumpyVette it was not far from him and he convinced me to stay away from it. I have a couple local friends looking for me. I have priced a new GM block and probably will take that route. As far as 2 bolt main and splayed caps that is mainly for the 400 blocks. The 4 bolt mains are weaker in the 400 blocks. I have 2 350 4 bolt main blocks just not in the condition that I wanr to use, one has be hit hard from the bottom and the other one was a nascar gm block converted for dry sump. Thanks for all the help guys. John -
Looking for a 350 block 4 bolt main

Thanks Doc...... -
Hey Guys, I am looking for a sbc 350 4 bolt main block for my supercharger build. I tore the last block up, had a crack in the deck. What I need is a older style 350 4 bolt main block std bore. I wil need to bore it out 30 over, also needs to be a two piece seal, but I can get an adapter to convert a 1 piece seal. It needs to have plenty of deck height left so we can have it decked straight. Need it resonable priced because of having to get it freighted to me. Let me know if any one can help. Thanks, John

We made the switch to CV's about 20 months ago and have not broken anything. ( Now this will be the Kiss of Death) We are running the original stub axles 1976, with the 300 Turbo cv's. Our best 60' is a 1.32.Jerry

Im Hard headed
jnjdragracing replied to ripz/tru-soldier's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Rip, I am glade your O.K. it is hard to believe what a difference a couple of inches of rollout will do. On our mount I still used the OE rubber mount ,but I use longer bolts that go through the differential housing passing through the mount and coming out at the bottom of the crossmember. I put a 3/8" steel plate on the bottom of the crossmember for added support. So far so good. I am still planning on dropping by on Friday, if thats alright. Jerry -
You probably have increased your mile per hour. We extended ours and ran it up higher, fixed our issue. Welcome to the big time..... Just a little ragging. John
