Awsome ride, I though our's was tough but oh man what a ride.... I have chatted with him on you tube, he added me to his friends list a couple of months ago. His videos of the dyno runs were impressive as well. John -
Good deal on a blown 350? COZY? Jnj?
jnjdragracing replied to zeeboost's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I was thinking about you possible engine purchase on the way to work. The bottom end sounds solid. With the pistons, hbeam rods, heads seem to be fine. If I was to purchase this setup, I would disassemble, have the block deck checked and o-ring it. Get the crank cut for another key, 180 degress from the stock one. Sell the 177 blower with matching cam / valve train on ebay. Then purchase a 6-71 blower with a roller cam setup and valve train. This is if you want the boost level / HP you are talking about. A 6-71 blower kit ( satin black ) for about what the 177 blower setup will go for on ebay. Call me and let me explain to you. Will have the additional cost of a crank hub, dual carbs, roller cam, roller springs for valve train, roller lifters. Then you will be able to get the desired numbers you want, also will be streetable. When you go drag racing just up the jets in the carbs, and do a pulley change. -

Doesn't sound like a bad deal. I don't know anything about a 177 blower. The maintenance on a 6-71 blower is not bad. Street use you should be able to go about three years before having to freshen up. To freshen my 6-71 is about $350.00 plus shipping to California. Race use is a diffirent story, but should last about a 1 yr before rebuild, but it is a unknown to what kind of abuse you put to it. Like us we used NOS and had some tuning curves and it cost us about $1300.00 to correct our mistakes and then agaib last year of about $1700.00 ( had to replace the rotors and get them restripped). I am not sure if you can get 15psi out of the 177 blower? We are pushing around 14 - 18 psi and I am / was overdriven 8 to 1. I hope this helps, if you have other questions you can call me at 803.600.1754. John -

Hey guys, I am trying my best to find a Nintendo Wii console for my son for Christmas. All of my stores are sold out, and you have to be there when the shipment goes out on the floor to be able to buy one if not they are sold instantly. I have looked at ebay, but they are double the price. The favor, if you happen to spot one will you call me on my cell 803.600.1754 and purchase it for me. I will paypal or other means the funds directly to you plus will pay for shipping to get to me, and will add some to it for your trouble. If I get an extra it will be no problem to unload on ebay. ps: you can't order them on-line unless you want to by the bundle package which is around $500.00 plus, which is too much. Thanks.... John

Wayne, it looks GREAT I can't wait to see it in person. I know Rip will be impressed. You are making me get the itch to start my tt setup. I fired up my new motor (NOS) last week, the NOS cam makes it sound very tame John laughed and said he thinks it might run a 7.00 in the 1/8th.I hope to take it to the track next week. When I start my tt setup me and John might have to come and spend a few days with you. You have done a wonderful job and it looks AWESOME. Jerry -
That is AWESOME Scottie. We are looking foward to seeing you and your RX7 in March.Jerry

I do not know, our best 60' to date is a 1.32 .But we do have two spare ones in the road box just in case. When we put in the New blower motor, this will be the true test.Jerry

Thanks again for the info, I was told by a friend to use the areomotive 1000 pump also. I have even thought about running just alky that way we do not have to run a incooler ,but that is just a thought. I would appreciate any info you can find on that turbo of mine. Thanks Jerry -
Guys our car weight is 2707 pounds with driver, we are still running the original rearend that came in the car (1976 280Z ) with 3.54 ratio. It is a Lincoln Locker (Welded) carrier. We went a 9.21 @ 153mph on haftshafts, but now we are using the 300Z turbo CV axles with stock stub axles. I know this will be the kiss of Death, but we have never broke a CV axle or stub axle yet.We did Destroy our share of haftshafts and haftshaft u-joints On the Dyno jet ichassis dyno it made 698HP and 627 LBS of Torque. These numbers are from 1/28/06.ZGAD (Mike) has been a 8.91@153 on a stock R200 rear end.The R200 is one BAD DUDE. RIP, and his ZEBRA Z is running the R200 also and he knows how to punish one too, He has never broke a unit or CV axle.My Goal has always been to go into the 8's on stock stuff. We hope to do that at the March race. Jerry

I see that you are running a 750 carb did you make the changes to it for the blowthrough or did you buy it already setup? I have looked at the CSU blow through carbs, and Chris had alot of good things to say about there Tech Guys. The 75mm turbo I have has no names on it such as Garrett, Holset or anything else. All it has is the Cummins ID tag, the compressor and turbine are held together buy a single v-band clamp. I took it apart trying to find some other ID tags and found nothing.I am going to try and post a picture of it here. There is a post called had to do it from a week ago that shows some photos of the turbo in question. Thanks for the info onthe turbo. I purchased a 75mm turbo that was for a V12 Cummins engine, I thought about using it, but a Friend of mine gave me two Holset wh1e that are 55mm each and that is what I will use for now well hopefully the first part of next year.Another Friend of my runs in the NMRA Drag Radial class said I would make more HP with the twins. Thanks again for the info. Jerry -

We are still using the R200 with stock stubs but with the 300z turbo cv axles with great luck, our best 60' to date is a 1.32, last year I purchased a 74 260Z that someone had already started to backhalf. We are going to get started on it in 2008, we will put the blower motor in it and by then I hope to have my tt sbc finished for the stock suspension car. Good luck Jerry -

Will This V8 Make 400+hp???
jnjdragracing replied to 240zprace's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
If in doubt, install a NOS cheater plate system. My friends 355 chevy engine with vortech heads using a NOS designed cam shaft is putting out 543 RWHP on a 150 shot of the juice. The key like it is stated above is the camshaft. John -
Need more vacuum for power brakes
jnjdragracing replied to HICKL's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Hey HICKL, We had the same issue with the blower setup we run. We purchased a inline check valve and installed it about 5 inches from the brake booster. What little bit of vacuum we were pulling would be stored by the check valve, line and brake booster. But yet again we are mainly drag race only. John
