  1. Not a bad stable mister. Perhaps some drift mentoring and a different set up, ie. lower, and you could pull it off. Got a decent start. When you know which way you are going to turn...contact me. I am allway interested in helping out. Have you been following the 240drift threads? Supposedly...a spare none Z is being prepared for drift comp. Could get some info from him. As always.....search, but i think his posts are recent so you might hit the "post in the past 24 hours". If you have already been there...my bad. Start a drift thread!! Lot of smart fellows here!! Good luck,
  2. Wow. What a post! Pics Please. Got a lot of if's in that post, but your right in that when you make a good showing....you have something to sell! If one of your options is to sell your stuff..... Look forward to seeing the goods!!
  3. Interesting point. With your statement, I have a question. I contributed significantly to the PINKS build and except for the outcome, enjoyed the sponsorship. I have always enjoyed being part of race teams and race events whether as a mech or a sponsor. As you know I provided crew shirts to the members due to the demand and request that I recieved. It is well known that a portion of the proceeds was channeled to the race team as a Hybrid.org donation. I took on a significant risk by ordering a bulk of these shirts (approximately 1,000.00 up front). Fortunately they sold fairly well. My statement being that, even carving off the top the 2.50 per shirt crew contribution, the average shipping cost of 3.00 (not including a half dozen overnighters and Jeremy's 50.00 overnighter!) still, my original investment with respect to the crew shirts, has been satisfied. Sales from this point, would be profit based. Considering your statement, how should I handle it? I wonder due to the fact that they have the "Hybrid Z" on them. John, could you help clarify?
  4. Seeing that the Admins, and some outstanding members, had to clean up some loose ends from an example of how twisted a build cound get without the right people at the wheel, and the fact that it was stated that it would not be allowed to get out of hand again. What would be the standards? Write up a sticky? Be OK'ed by the elders? I have seen some people that are willing to band together for various builds. I have seen some interest in promoting their pride in Hybrid Z. Can we have some word from the top? Where do we go from here? Thanks to all....
  5. This concept seems to be surfacing more and more. The reasons do make sense. Regardless of the disipline, it's a "pick your hero and back em" concept. In crew racing it has, and allways will be, that a select few individuals have the starter money, shop, chassis, connections or otherwise. People on their own or through recruitment, help out in varying ways according to their physical, technical, or financial capabilities. A team. Not every one can or should drive. One lends ones strenghts to the task at hand. I like what is comming from the disscussion. The one item that is close to constant is the showing of the Hybrid Z emblem as a matter of pride. Perhaps all we really need is an Org blessing to display our Z cars in their respective disiplines wearing the Hybrid Z logo? The rest may take care of its self. As exciting as it is to compete, it is so very true that we would never please every one. And, with that, I feel confident the majority of us want our legacy to be more than that of "streetracer". Even if we like to "street race" now and again.
  6. Sounds like an expectant father! At least when you get home you can drive er! Bit different than the Dr. Frankenstien, countless nights in the laboratory, waiting for the "it's alive!!!!" only to find out it has a fuel pump problem with the new pump that was purchased two years ago when it was expected to be a weekend install! Have any mods in mind?
  7. Dude...have you looked at all the pics? A countless degree of strangeness perhaps! I could put in a gazillian amount of hours stacking up a mountain of camel dung, and it would still be a mountain of turds! Tacky, poorly constructed, waste of hardware and paint...IMO:lmao: Gold plate a dog turd.....it's still a turd.
  8. I owned a 71 duster with some modest upper and lower engine mods. Ran really well!! Ran with a couple of dudes that owned some badassity 340s with auto trans. They would pull like a rhino! Any 340 Zs??
  9. Patches, and shirts are out there now!!!
  10. Good stuff. Dr Hunt has chimed in with his comments. How about the rest of the Admins? Moderators? Dan?
  11. Whew! I feel better now. Thought I was going to have to inspect all of my structural repairs!! Ha!
  12. Very interesting.....very interesting...
  13. Mr.Mortensen (QUOTE): If it's bodywork do the 1000 spotwelds. If its stitching a large area where you can spread the heat around, go for it. If you're trying to stitch in a very small area, don't stitch. Spot weld, and just bring a beer or a coke or something and try to relax and let it cool down so that you don't warp it like I did. When you say "spotwelds" do you mean to actually use a spotwelder or do you mean "1000 tack welds" placed close together?
  14. How about I put a spin on the original question. What would the membership think, how would you feel if a handfull of the membership created a "house" car regarless of the views presented. Good, bad, indifferent?
  15. Water on a rag will "quench" the metal rapidly but will also change its composistion. It will cause the metal at the weld site to become brittle which will invite cracks and can even worsen the warpage. Mig welding is heat at a very localized area. If you are careful and ensure that you tack the part on its periphery first before continuing. Dont overdo it. You will be fine.
  16. Savy. I need to read better. I read fast and thought, to myself, that you were speaking of the intake manifold. Did you have the system done at a shop?.
  17. Not bad!!! It has that dont dare jack with me lope. I'll bet if a ricer pulled up next to you, he would roll up the window! If I may ask? Why did you go with 2 1/4 verses 2 1/2? Header match?
  18. Civic...shmivic...Accord.....shamord. Absolutly LOVE the "suicide bomber doors" quote!!!! Middle east bismatti rice!
  19. Got a digital camera! Or is it still in the gross stage?
  20. I will try to stay pretty neutral on the subject as I would like to see all opinions. But I feel that the subject has been brought up and discussed due to the way a former "Hybrid Z" build was conducted. It can be done better. I think that is the point. All good opinions guys. Keep em comming!!
  21. Cant really say exactly how I feel about that "ride", but a couple of you came real close. Quite the "rig". I'll light the match!!!
