  1. Check out the alighnment of those exhaust flanges. I don't recall the exact details but I know from when we made custom manifolds for a Vg30 that there was something really fishy about the flange design. Depending on what direction they are bolted on, upside down/flipped engine sides.. They will bolt on, but the ports may be out by quite a bit. Not trying to rain on your parade, just suggesting that you look into it.
  2. It's not done yet but here is a pic of my buddy's... (BradD's) Rav4. It's gonna have solid axles 38" tires and a Lexus V8
  3. My signals never did self cancel, but one day my turn signals stopped working. The problem was the switch. I took it apart and cleaned it, sanded the contacts and bent them to contact better. After I was done the self cancel started working. Guess a good cleaning did the trick.
  4. I did it on a Honda. Again, very short hose with almost no flex. I managed to make it work by... 1. clocking the center section slightly towards the oil pan 2. using a 45 degree fitting at the bottom 3. welding the AN fitting to the pan on a angle
  5. Yes, un-used... don't even give it second thought.
  6. What is with those photo's? Looks like you already did it? I put a 84 300zxt engine in a 87 Pathfinder 4x4 and I went for the crossover under the tranny idea... Lemmie tell ya... it was not easy!
  7. I cant tell you what the specs should be, but I can sell you a good used one alot cheaper than $300!
  8. Did you tear out all the original wiring? The wires that went to the coil originally are integrated into the main harness (headlights, marker, horn. ect.) All I did was hook up the original blue wire for the -coil terminal and reconnect it to the present coil. (and yes, the color is blue, even on the older cars)
  9. Yeah, let me know what your calculations come up with. I would be interested to know as I want to get a similar intercooler myself. Perhaps if the intercooler runs below your desired HP level then you can compansate for the lack of flow (oxygen) with some of the bottled variety (nitrous) Not to mention the gains from the cooling effect.
  10. Those vertical intercoolers are supposed to cool quite well. I imagine the limits of that intercooler is more about flow than cooling. I don't think methanol will help you go past the limits of the IC if that is the case.
  11. I have a msd box, it's the grey colored SC (sport compact) model. I simply hooked up a wire from the box itself directly to the tach. It is a little eractic as in sometimes it works fine, other times it does not work at all. However I think the problem is the flakey spade connector they gave me to plug into the box. I never got a chance to look into it as I was too busy then it was time to park it for the winter.
  12. Agreed... It does get me pumped to put in my Holset though! Man, it's still in the mail, have to check tomororow and see it it comes in.
  13. I noticed that about the oil hole alighnment too.. but no, I don't think it matters. It'll just fill the whole area with oil then the the pressure will rise inside.
  14. L28's ARE rear sumped, but the L24s in a 77-84 810/Maxima are front sumped. Seeing gas and diesel Maxima engines are in the same Maxima chassis, I would bet the diesels are front sumped too.
  15. I think that line is needed to allow air into the fuel tank otherwise a vacuum would exist and not allow fuel to come out. It has to be able to breathe, be it open to atmosphere or through the carbon canister. Open to atmosphere will cause polution from the gasoline evaporating.
  16. The 70 would be worth more fully restored than the 280 would be, but only if is was "original" Me personally, I would want more power as a 240 all stock would bore me. The 280 would probably be worth more with some nice mods then it would be stock. If you want to do a engine swap with efi, the 280 would be easier as it already has efi.
  17. So when do we get to see this bad-ass setup? Spool of a stock T3 with the top end of a huge turbo!
  18. I can't say for sure either, but I seem to recall out of the my deep memory banks that they are the same as well. A narrow band ohm meter is all a fuel gauge really is anyway. You won't hurt anything if you just hook it up, worst that will happen is you get a wrong reading. If you know the range of the vehicle from full you can figure it out. Fill it up, see if it reads full, then put miles on it similar to the range of the car. See if if shows empty or close to it. If it does, don't worry about it, no fuel gauges are 100% acurate anyway. As long as it gives you some sort of reference that "YOU" know roughly how much gas you have left.
  19. I have run up to 18psi on the stock clutch. However that is with the stock turbo exhaust housing (upgraded compressor housing) I just think I've been lucky with that one.. I just bought a Holset Hy35, I'm betting my clutches days are numbered. The key number being... one, 1day. Ha ha..
  20. Holy crap Mike, that's looking good! I haven't seen it yet and just noticed this post. Are you looking for a re-match down the back-roads this summer? I'll have you warned however.. I just picked up a Hy35 on Ebay. LOL
  21. I agree, vacuum reading are handy for several reasons. I would always choose a dual gauge over straight vacumm.
  22. I dunno, I guess I would rate them the same. Sebring is likely alot newer but that doesn't count for much IMO. Sebring trannys are known to crap out frequently. Far less likely to see big ticket items fail on the Nissan. However small things are likely to be cheaper on the domestic. I guess it comes down to which car YOU like better, for me.. I'd rather drive the 300zx.
  23. I also vote for the 280zx, they often have soft frame rails. They just didn't build them strong enough at that point to allow frequent lifting with such a heavy front end. They really should have been strengthened from the factory. Overall the car does not look "that bad" but again, I am from Canada too.. Unless you do something to strengthen the frame soon, the number of years left with the car are limited. You could just avoid anything other than drive on hoists, and enjoy the car for a few more years. However I'd be willing to bet only a couple more years and the 300zx will start showing it's age heavy too. The only thing I like better about the 300zx is the superior ecu/maf system. Other than that it is one of the most aweful cars in the world to work on.. Granted the Vg30 is a excellent engine. Try and change a alternator, starter or head temp sensor and you'll know what I'm talking about. On the the flipside, a 280zx is almost a joke how easy it is to perform normally difficult tasks. I don't mean to offend any z31 owners out there, it is a very well built car (thank goodness) cuz you sure don't wanna work on it. I like them just fine as long as they are someone else's and not mine.. LOL
  24. Better than one for $100 that needs $5000 worth of metal work.. LOL
  25. I know where there is a 77/78 280z with no powertrain but very solid body for $1200 in central Canada if anyone is interested. The car is originaly from California and title was never transfered to Canada yet.
