  1. Not sure if it is in the book, but what info are you looking for exactly? Perhaps someone can just tell you what you are looking to find. Specs? Tearing it down and putting it back together is a relatively simple job. Not sure if you need a book to figure that out.
  2. It's been a while since I looked at one, but I think that my TBi style Pathfinder had a wire that comes out from the sensor and is able to be unpluged from up near the timing chain cover. Are the z31's not the same? I replaced the CHTS connector on my L28et. The connector is very similar to a injector plug and I was able to find a version that is much improved from the Nissan connector from MSD
  3. According to this site: http://www.nissanpathfinders.com/BuyaPathy.htm it is the pre 97 Pathys that have the manifold problems. I have a 87 with 460,000km on it and was still going strong (until I yanked the motor in favor of a Vg30et! LOL) Is the one you are looking at a 5spd or auto? The auto's kinda fall apart when they get older and cost a bloody fortune to fix. 8hrs for a R+R and another 16hrs for a overhaul... plus parts. That is for a 4wd however, maybe not so bad on a 2wd, I forgot you were talking 2wd, never seen one myself. Somehow I'm guessing that only 4wd models are available in Canada.
  4. I'm still waiting for your "donation"
  5. I've put off adding a intercooler to my 280z because I need the left side opening in my rad cradle for my air 3" air intake and was never keen on the idea of cutting the body of the car to make room for more piping. Not to mention that there is very little room for a cross pipe between the radiator and the head when using the stock fan. Apon looking at the problem again I realised that if I were to use 2" piping (my turbo outlet is only 2" anyway) there would be plenty of room between the engine and rad without having to install a low profile electric fan. Also there is a small hole below where the air intake goes.. (the one used for AC lines and front wiring) would accomodate a 2" pipe with "slight" trimming. I would flare the pipe up to 2.5 as soon as it cleared the body, then a slicon adapter to the 2.75" TB. The question is.. what sort of HP limitations would I get by using 2" pipe? I'm thinking it would go alot further than most people would give it credit for, but I'm interested in hearing some feedback anyway.
  6. If you are not running more than 15psi boost pressure, I would just use a Nissan headlight washer pump. They will push 55psi and ARE designed for use with washer fluid. I'm sure they can be picked up at the local wrecking yard cheap!
  7. Or just run it to the intake manifold. Guys do both
  8. Well the more boost you run the less safety factor you have.. there are no garantee's. I would say I've pretty much maxed out my stock turbo without any issues. I've seen people push the stock block over 20psi however (with a bigger turbo obviously) To push it hard you have to have good air/fuel management and a way of cooling the intake charge (intercooler and/or water/alky injection) I wouldn't go past 9 without those upgrades.
  9. Yes, it is usually covered by the PS pump bracket along with a gasket.
  10. I don't have any experience with the digital gauge clusters, but I am familiar with the pinouts on the ecu, and I'm 99% sure that the gauges have nothing to do with the ecu. Probably it is all internal within the gauges.
  11. If all you want is 9psi, just uprade to a really nice exhaust and you should run that all day long on the stock T3. It worked for me, of course since then I've added water injection and a manual boost controller and have been pushing that same T3 to 14-16psi. The only other mods I've made is a z31 ecu and a dsm BOV
  12. That's a tough call, 400hp is a little much for a daily driven L28et unless it's had extensive work (although I'm sure it's been done) I know that alot of fabrication is needed to make a Vg30et fit in a S30 (not sure about a twin turbo in a S130) I would opt for a RB swap, but you want a engine that has parts readily available.. What about a Buick V6 turbo or even just a nice V8?
  13. You need to work on your terminology a bit there bud, mega-squirt uses a MAP sensor therefore you don't really need the AFM If it's being pulled at a wrecker, likely they'll cut off the exhaust pipe and give you the downpipe regardless. However if you have the means, get rid of it and make a custom one! The oil pump is inside the engine so that's not a issue, however if the parts car is a automatic, it'll have a oil cooler.. might wanna grab that. I used the NA pump on mine for a while with no issues, but what the hey.. might as well grab a turbo fuel pump too..
  14. I image the biggest thing is that a Holset was available on a factory application and therefore can be picked up used for alot less money than a T3/T4. Especially now that guys with Dodge diesels are doing upgrades and us Z guys can pick up the leftover scraps.. LOL
  15. Yes I figured that, but does that mean that every dodge diesel truck uses the Hy35w with a 45 degree exhaust elbow or perhaps certain years/models use the Hx35w? and maybe don't have the exhaust elbow.. This is why I'm asking for specifics.
  16. Thanks for taking my request and posting about the Holset swap. Looks to me that other than alot of minor adjustments it's not all that bad (I know alot of minor things can add up to a PITA) However it looks like the real challenge to this swap is the boring out of the wastegate, would you say that is correct? Perhaps another way to go would be to fab up a external wastegate on the stock manifold like 240hoke did.. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=108785 You also said to go with the Hy35w model with 45 degree exhaust port.. Can you tell me exactly what what vehicle you would find that exact setup?
  17. Well in his other post he said that his car weighed in a 2670lbs with a 117mph ET. The math suggests that his power is roughly about 335rwhp. Not too shabby
  18. Yeah I was pretty sure it wasn't a afternoon job. I thought it would be easy to put a Vg30et in a already Vg30 powered Pathfinder, well I found out I was way off on that one! LOL Either way I'd love some info
  19. A big congrats on those times, get a set of drag slicks and you'll be running 11's easy.. just one question, maybe I missed it somewhere but wasn't someone gonna do a write up on swapping to the Holset turbo? I am very interested in what exactly is required to make that turbo work on a L28. I assume SOME modifications are needed? Some pics would be awsome!
  20. If you are looking for injectors cheap, try and find some old Ford LTD or Lincoln town cars with throttle body style injection. The TBI units have two injectors mounted in them (yes you need to locate 3 parts cars) Remove 6 injectors from 3 different cars and you have 480cc injectors that basically pop right in. When looking at different cars, just make sure the numbers are the same. The ones I use have 400 for the last 3 digits. Also, read Afshin's sticky post on the z31 ecu/maf swap. You may want to consider that as a ecu upgrade or msNs as some cheap alternatives.
  21. Yes a z31 ignitor will work, provided it is hooked up properly
  22. I drilled a hole in the pipe, then I bought a 3/8 pipe coupling.. cut it in half, and welded it on. I found it to be alot easier.
  23. Leaps and bounds have been made at tuning the z31 ecu's, Don't knock it, you can easily run 400+HP setups on that ecu. However in the case of a twin turbo, it might more complicated to plumb in the maf.
  24. I've been doing some thinking on how to make some extra income and came up with selling auto parts on ebay. I've noticed in my travels that junkyards can have quite a different philosophy from region to region. I am lucky to live in a place where we have wrecking yards that do the pick and pull thing. One local business sells parts DIRT cheap.. basically they have a master list of every kind of part you can think of and charge X amount of dollars based on what TYPE of part it is.. For example.. you might be able to buy a engine for $100, a engine is a engine.. don't matter if it's a ford escort engine or a viper engine, the price is the same. Granted, you won't find alot of viper engines there... It's mostly older stuff, under 95 usually. However there are often parts to be had that would be worth a good buck on ebay. Supposing I was going to start hanging around there alot picking parts for a sweet deal, what sort of parts would you say are always sure to be worth a ebay auction? I'm thinking mostly small light stuff that is easily stored and shipped.. Certain injectors and ecu's, gauge clusters, come to mind. Perhaps certain taillights? Anybody got any suggestions? My problem is I mostly know what is of value to a Z owner.. but what about hondas and other cars?
