  1. way too much wild going on with the air dam. lose the spoiler and i think its bad a$$
  2. it doesn't take anymore time to change the color as it does to spray the car in black again...
  3. it would seem it would compare to a fabric skinned aircraft...
  4. no offense guys, but this was the only good idea i read, given i only read this far...wire wheel = very bad idea! that'll go straight through the FG and then you'll have to use bondo, not cool. i do this for a living so 80 grit, then ~400 grit and a fibertek white scuff pad to finish her up
  5. no, they dont. i did it to my 280 and you have to cut and weld, in my case i took plexiglass and used a sealer to adhere it to the metal. but other than that, all you have to do is figure out which lightbulb goes in which hole and your golden...btw you will need the 240z taillight covers ( the black things that surround the lights)
  6. yeah, the shop i work at charges $75/hr.
  7. according to FSR motorsports, the GE head flows better...email them and ask them if you don't believe me. i didn't believe it either until i emailed them
  8. simply because of ease of installation. the only mod that i know of so far is elongating the bolt holes on the manifold and oil sump mod. if i am unaware of required mod please let me know. whats the deal on these izuzu motors anyway? it may not be a option to me as of right now but i'm interested to know something about them just in case plans do change.
  9. i need to be worrying about where i would even find a ld28 first! obviously i need to call around to junk yards but i doubt they'll have any...what can i expect to pay for a ld28 anyway?
  10. that was my next proposal. hell, i wasn't trying to make this a huge dollar project because i'm getting a a gsx-r as soon as i fix my rx7 but you gotta spend money to save money i guess.
  11. i guess my next question would be...how would you wire the tank heater so oil didnt leak everywhere across the city?
  12. do you have to have a tank heater even in the summer time? i will be going to the military to fly helicopters before too long and wont drive it then...
  13. thats what i asked you in a previous post, what is the filtering process? and how do i know i'm at 10 microns? would this be comparable to dewatering?
  14. i was aware of the water, glycerin, methanol and catalyst. is that what you ment by filtering to 10 microns? i was also planning on doing a turbo ld28 setup, although i know nothing of the motor it would be nothing to learn it. did that guy ever state in his book anything about his power level with the turbo ld?
  15. well hell, thanks for letting me know! now that you have answered another lingering question i had concerning the dual tank setup i'll probably head that route due to less labor to produce fuel. so, if i installed a 5 gallon racing fuel cell into my hatch and plumbed it for diesel to warm the engine up on and had two switches controlling different pumps for both diesel and oil, would that work? edit: oh and what do you mean by filtering it down to 10 microns? sorry for my ignorance...im 19
  16. plastics always dry a slightly different color than metals...biggest problem at my shop
  17. no, collecting 55 gallon drums would not be a bad idea. here is the process in which i intend to use http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_make.html
  18. anybody think about doing this? i'm seriously considering it! both my rx7 and Z run on premium, so i've decided to ditch the 2jz build i've got going and find me a 83 ld28 and make my own biodiesel. for under a $1/gallon you can't beat that. but, yeah, the point of this thread...will the p90a turbo manifold swap to whatever head may be on the diesel motor? i know absolutely nothing of the ld except for the knowledge of the crank when i was considering the l31et build. i did a search but very very very few results were found concerning biodiesel. anybody and everybody will be of help, thanks again guys.
  19. i was wondering if anybody had integrated the climate controls into an aluminum dash? i want to go to an aluminum dash when i do my 2jz swap due to ease of gauge installation and weight. it would be a daily (if you want to call it that) driver, but i will be going of to warrant officer flight training before too long so theres no telling when i'd be able to drive it. thanks guys
  20. now that is a great mind at work!
  21. i can get ahold of a '97 f-250 powerstroke turbo for a good price, i was wondering if anybody has had experience with this turbo on a gas motor i would like to use it in my 2jz na-t build. also, does anybody know exactly what turbo it is? with all the options garrett offers for the gt series is almost impossible to find the turbo on their website through what specs i do know of it. thanks
  22. paint scheme is bada$$, but move faster when spraying the clear...it won't look identical to an orange
  23. when painting the whole car in a closed space such as in your situation your going to have clear coat over spray....from my point of view i would find it easier to start spraying clear on the front of the car first with fans obviously blowing outwards from the garage. clear coat over spray when baked into fresh paint is easily wet sanded out...no biggie edit: i too work at a body shop but can't remember for the life of me the exact name of the wax/grease remover we use, if it helps any methyl ethyl ketone is used on plane fabric before painting...
  24. 70 degrees is perfect for painting, the hotter the better for curing...given the time of year it can only get so hot. from personal experience around 85 degrees ambient temperature paint starts doing some crazy $HIT! if i were you i'd wait til the later part of march if your going to be painting basicly outside
  25. apparently they're notorious for breaking shafts....damnit
