  1. he would be cool if he looked at my post on his vid...lol
  2. hey GA_Z, I had a similar problem in my 74 260z with carbs. The car sat for 5 years with half a tank of gas. I even got the gas tank stripped and re sealed. It did not help any... I took a bicycle shift cable and pulled the center cable out of it and flared the end to make a little wire brush. I cramed it down the output tube on the gas tank until I knocked off the little screen on the end of the tube. I now run 2 fuel filters to catch any gunk that comes through. I had removed the fuel pump and reworked it but it was not coming on. I just ran a new wire with a switch on it so I could manually control it. Once the tank was clear and the pump was working I got excellent fuel pressure. It is a carb system but your EFI could ave a similar problem.
  3. just wait and save up for a Miller synchrowave200 for TIG. It is the new home edition and it does AC I believe. It is like 2 grand with everything except the argon tank. Give it a look. Personally I would like that one or a dynasty 200DX...but that is about $3500 with everything.
  4. yeah flux core is going to penetrate a lot more than regular MIG welding. The best gas for bodywork would be argon as it would penetrate the least and be the smoothest to weld with. Co2 penetrates more than argon and then flux core is more than that. It should work for tacking stuff but be sure to clean off all of your slag before you tack again near the weld.
  5. We talked about this one a while back... It is the standard MSA body kit 2 and the bottom part is molded in from another car.
  6. The first time I drove my Z with the new coilover suspension was awesome! It rode like a go kart instead of like a bus. Once I got my illuminas on the right numbers it handled very neutral through the corners with right foot oversteer...nice. I still have a lot to do to the front suspension though.
  7. how about rustoleum??? $40-$50 to do it and a bunch of different colors to choose from.
  8. sigh...that would be a lot of work...tripple SUs and EFI..
  9. pretty cool. For a second there I thought you painted your car gloss black...
  10. well Ms has more adjustability..If you are an engineer it's a dream. If you are not an engineer it is just picky. I'll be running MS before long...
  11. He said something about upgrading from SDS to something else. I say megasquirt it!
  12. yeah...maybe he just doesn't want to tell us that he decided to run regular Webers... so what would it take to convert a pair of SUs into a TBI setup? Obviously the big top would be where the injector sits but what about the other parts? what is needed fora TBI setup? I think the butterfly valve should work with some mods. I'll go get some pics
  13. and we all know dry sump costs $$$$...
  14. well here is one of my last updates for a long while. I did some more rustoleum painting yesterday and today. I was washing my car off to roll it into the garage for winter and I decided to grab a piece of 400 grit sandpaper and see how shiny I could get the paint. Before it was just unsanded rustoleum like so: Then after some 400 grit paper and then Mother's aluminium polish. So I decided to put some more paint on it of a darker color. I mixed some of my black and red paint and made this color: I just did a lighter color today my poor engine over there...the outer color is the one I was trying to get with red rustoleum. The "regal red" came out to be bright like my Dad's 944t. Not what I wanted. I like a darker red. A black stripe will be going down the middle. wetsanding woes... go inside and everyone freaks out 'cause I am covered in "blood"...
  15. that is really cool! I would be doing that if I was still using a stock dash...I am doing this light weight aluminium thing though. No more cracks ever! and you can now use your dash as a drum...
  16. plus you don't have to buy $600 of injectors to go big... I have such good ideas (lavishing in my sucess)...J/K...
  17. I know..and the price is too...but your intercooler can be VERY small.
  18. exactly... but then I read on the side of the can today while I was putting down another coat of paint and it said this paint is leaded...8-0 I guess you don't want to remove this paint with an orbital sander...some stripping liquid should be used. They don't hastle you with rustoleum. I changed to a different color today...the chocolate turned into a slightly purple color...go figure. I made a more red version and it looks good. I think I am becoming the master of rustoleum...
  19. Let me give an example...I have done this and it freaked me out. You put a block of this material on your hand. Once it is on your hand you put an ice cube on top of the block. In about 15-20 seconds the cube is completely melted and your hand is very cold. It sucks the heat out of your hand and puts it into the ice.
  20. here is the original hybridZ thread that has a link to the moparts thread. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=107977&highlight=rustoleum Yes I use a 2 inch wide high density foam roller. They are about a dollar each. The small areas can be painted with a foam hand "brush" that is about 2 inches wide. They use this kind of brush in kindergarden activities...
  21. It is sort of funny to see Austin't post on zcar.com and how they are praising the car and then go back to when Austin had the unfortunate wreck and they were all boudmouthing him...
  22. yep. Olie had a thread going with doing this to a perfectly good set of webers. I think I have a use for my old roundtops now...blowthrough SUs on a turbo. Since it "doesn't work very well" to do a blowthrough SU turbo setup...
